[googlefont=Playfair Display,900][googlefont=Nunito,400,400i,700,700i][googlefont=Space Mono] GUARDIANS OF THE FOREST gorgeclan leader auditions [attr="class","cp cp-shooting-star"] introduction When the valley shattered, two great Clans lost their leaders. StoneClan's Birdstar sacrificed himself to save those who needed help the most, Sorrelclaw lost her life to the crumbling mountainside. Pumastar vanished among the rubble of the destroyed Clans, with Mossheart too shaken to take up the mantle. When the Clans finally gathered together the courage to investigate the reshaped territories, they discovered that the valley could no longer support five Clans standing apart. Refusing to once more abandon the home they had made, they would join together and form three great new Clans. With these newly founded Clans, they could continue to thrive amongst the ruins of their ancient homes.
Now, there is one question remaining. Who will take up the post of the first leader of GorgeClan? With so many high ranks lost to the disaster, the need for a unifying, strong leader to govern the forests is greater than ever.

- Applicants can be from any Clan, so long as they intend to live in GorgeClan.
[attr="class","cp cp-crown"] duties & responsibilities Before deciding if you should apply your character to become GorgeClan's leader, we ask that you consider the new IC role your cat will play in the roleplay, as well as the new role you yourself will play in our community. These tasks will be your responsibility, so be sure that you'll be able to stay on top of them before you apply for this role! [attr="class","cp cp-heart"]- You will be required to post at least three times a month as your leader.
- You will have to manage the training tracker of GorgeClan and keep up with the progress of kits and apprentices.
- Your cat will be expected to host ceremonies to name apprentices, warriors and other ranks such as elders.

- Your character will be responsible for making huge decisions for GorgeClan and settling conflicts within the Clan.
- You will be expected to brainstorm with staff and the other leaders on plot ideas for GorgeClan.
scenarios & prompts [attr="class","cp cp-clapperboard"] SCENARIO I[attr="class","cp cp-paw"] It has only been a very short time since you have become leader. The newly founded Clan has had its ups and downs in terms of inner-Clan conflicts, but everything seems to be going smoothly. That is, until one day you witness a heated argument in the middle of camp. Two young she-cats, both only recently made warriors, are bickering about something but you cannot discern what they are saying. Cloverfoot storms off in a huff, while Ruetail marches back into the Warriors den. Ruetail refuses to explain what the argument was about. A few days later, Cloverfoot approaches you to explain that she was convinced Ruetail was sneaking off to meet up with a young MistClan tom at the border. That very night, you spot Ruetail slipping out of camp alone. How do you handle this situation? SCENARIO II [attr="class","cp cp-squirrel"] Greenleaf has come at last, and with the warmer season returning to the forest, a group of kits who were born in GorgeClan have now become apprentices. Their parents, Tinystrike and Tawnywish, had both been TreeClan warriors in the days of the old Clans, and these kits would be the first raised by GorgeClan. After considering several options for mentors, you chose Rustythorn, Brackenwing and Thrushfoot. Crowpaw, Darkpaw and Softpaw seem excited to begin their training, but you notice that their parents share an alarmed look between them. A few days later, all three mentors approach you, dejected apprentices trailing behind them, along with two very angry-looking parents. Tawnywish loudly announces that the StoneClan warriors, Rustythorn and Thrushfoot, were incapable of properly training the apprentices to hunt in GorgeClan's woods. It appears that Thrushfoot refused to teach Softpaw to hunt anywhere except the open grounds and steep slopes that she was used to. While Rustythorn had made a genuine attempt to teach Crowpaw forest hunting, Tawnywish was adamant that she had no idea what she was talking about and was hardly qualified. What do you do? SCENARIO III[attr="class","cp cp-drop"] It soon becomes apparent that the stream which once fed into the forest territory is not a reliable source of water. With an intense heatwave comes an unexpected drought, drying the waterfall to a slow trickle. It is enough to keep the thirst of the most vulnerable kits and elders quenched, but with so many cats in the Clan, it is clear that this will not sustain the Clan for long. You know that GaleClan too have been badly impacted by the drought, as thieving patrols have been stealing across the border not to hunt, but to desperately collect what little they can from the drying falls. MistClan, however, have lost very little. At the gathering, you can tell that their lake had depleted noticeably, but that none of their warriors looked dehydrated at all. However, there appear to be more and more patrols along the border with MistClan. They appear to be guarding their water very, very closely. With your cats beginning to fall ill from thirst, your deputy suggests sending a covert patrol onto MistClan land on a mission to steal some of their lakewater. How do you proceed? [attr="class","cp cp-clipboard"] application template Here is the code you will use for your application. Please fill out all information, but when it comes to the prompts/scenarios you need only complete one of them. However, you are more than welcome to complete all of them if you wish! Also, if you have any trouble at all with the code in the template, let me know! If you're mainly a mobile user, feel free to send me your answers and I can fill it out for you. Also, HUGE thanks to the lovely Fab, who put all of this together. [attr="class","cp cp-heart"]

[googlefont=Playfair Display,900][googlefont=Nunito,400,400i,700,700i][googlefont=Space Mono] [attr="class","grclangrad"]1 MY APPLICATION FOR gorgeclan leader [attr="class","cp cp-info"] basic information Name: CLOUDTAIL Age: 63 MOONS Gender: TOMBiography: Link.Clan: STONECLAN Rank: WARRIOR Former apprentice(s): ASHPAW general questions [attr="class","cp cp-question"] - Why do you want to take this position?
I am interested in this position for several reasons: I am excited at the prospect of helping build a new IC clan, I would like to help with site-wide plot events, and I think I would have a lot of fun with a leader character. I am hoping to make a leader character who is 3 dimensional and dynamic, someone that other people affiliated with the clan will want to RP with, and I intend on being the kind of RPer that brings the clan together. - What traits do you believe would make your character a good fit for leader of GorgeClan?
Cloudtail is a very down-to-earth sort of character. He is practical and observant, and of course he cares very deeply for his clanmates. Cloudtail is also willing to work on his flaws and biases, realizing that his younger years were filled with misinformation and undeserved hatred, and makes a very conscious effort to make time to really listen to his clanmates. He tries to find the middle ground for any dispute, but he won't hesitate to lay down the law if he has to. - What flaws does your character possess that might impact their role as leader?
Cloudtail has a bad temper. He has to work very hard at keeping calm, especially when cats bring problems to him that he believes are stupid and frivolous. Cloudtail has difficulties relating to his clanmates when it comes to personal things like love and affection, and he can come off as uncaring. He gets frustrated when a solution he comes up with doesn't work right away, and is often impatient. - Are you confident that you will be able to maintain activity as leader?
By filling out this application I am making a preemptive commitment to this position. I believe that the responsibilities of being the leader of Gorgeclan will be part of the joy of being the leader. Leveling up apprentices and running ceremonies is one of the many things that made me interested in the position to begin with, and I think that writing 3 posts a month is very reasonable (especially after participating in NaNoWriMo!). I am confident I will be able to maintain activity as leader, and it is my goal to increase activity in Gorgeclan as a whole anyways. [attr="class","cp cp-paw"] scenario I Cloudstar had hoped that the argument between Cloverfoot and Ruetail was little more than a spat between young warriors. He remembered being a freshly made warrior, and all the arguments he had been part of over mousebrained notions of pride. But Cloverfoot’s accusation of Ruetail having out-of-clan relationships had been worrying, and the white tom couldn’t help but keep an eye on the other she-cat.
He felt guilty for not trusting his clanmate. He wanted to believe that Cloverfoot was wrong, that she had misunderstood the situation. He wanted to give Ruetail the benefit of the doubt. But that night, as he was about settle down for a much needed rest, he spied her sneaking out of camp. She went out through the dirtplace tunnel, which was a classic escape route for many young warriors and apprentices who wanted to get into mischief. The oldest trick in the book, he thought as he stood and stretched and prepared to track Ruetail.
It was easy enough to follow her, since she did smell like dirtplace afterall, and a bright white cat like Cloudstar had to learn to be especially stealthy so as not to be seen or heard. Ruetail was at a disadvantage. He followed her all the way to the Mistclan border, where she stopped and waited anxiously. Cloudstar had never been in love before, but he knew the signs, and Ruetail certainly was lovesick. He sighed inwardly at what he was going to have do now.
“Ruetail.”
The she-cat puffed out and spun around to face him, her eyes wide, “Cloudstar! I, ah, I was just—”
Cloudstar silenced her with a flick of his bushy tail, “You were meeting with a Mistclan warrior, weren’t you?” She looked down at her paws and said nothing. Cloudtail padded to her side and sat, “Are you unhappy, in Gorgeclan? I know the changes have been difficult. Even I’m finding it hard. When I was a Stoneclan warrior, Birdstar suggested we bring in cats from outside the clan, and I thought he was completely mad. Now we’re all living together, and cats have kin in other clans…it’s a difficult time.”
Ruetail flexed her claws on the ground beneath her, “I just miss them so much.”
Cloudstar nodded, “I know, I have friends in other clans now too. But you can’t live in both clans, you must choose one, and you need to be loyal to that one clan. No matter what.” He stood and shook his pelt, his voice becoming hard and cold like ice, “I’ll let you think about over night. If you come back in the morning, I will know you chose Gorgeclan. If not…I wish you luck.”
“Thank you Cloudstar.”
Cloudstar grunted and turned back to walk towards camp. He did not know if he would be one warrior short the next morning, or if he had made a terrible mistake. Would this open the door for his entire clan to desert him? He looked up at the stars pleadingly, “Oh Birdstar, I hope I’m doing the right thing.”
scenario II [attr="class","cp cp-squirrel"] What a mess!
Cloudstar had been so proud to graduate kits to apprentices, the first to be raised in Gorgeclan, and he had thought he had appointed appropriate mentors. But the parents, former Treeclan warriors, evidently thought otherwise. Now he had five warriors bickering at each other, and three very miserable looking apprentices. He could feel the fur beginning to rise on his shoulders. As leader he needed to be tactful and calm, but this nonsense was getting on his last nerve!
“Enough!” he yowled. They all stopped and turned to him, the apprentices cowering behind their mentors. Cloudstar took a big, calming breath, and said tersely “Tawnywish, Tinystrike, you can’t expect every cat to be experts in hunting like Treeclan warriors. Rustythorn, Brackenwish, and Thrushfoot are fine warriors and I will not reassign them. However,” his tail lashed behind him, “You do bring up an important issue. If we’re going to be one clan, we need to share our skills. From now on, hunting patrols will be led by cats from each of the old clans, so we can all learn the hunting techniques. Tawnywish and Tinystrike, you’ll lead the first patrol at sunrise. Understood?”
No cat seemed thrilled by the decisions, but they all nodded and went off their separate ways, grumbling to each other. Cloudstar hissed: he needed some space. Some quiet. Some time to himself. He stood and padded past his deputy on his way towards camp entrance, “I’m going for a hunt. I’ll be back by sundown.”
[attr="class","cp cp-drop"] scenario III (This scenario will be OOC)
Cloudstar would respectfully, but firmly, decline the plan to sneak into another clan’s territory. Especially since Galeclan had been sneaking on to Gorgeclan territory, he would not want to be a hypocrite and say it was wrong for Galeclan to do it but right for Gorgeclan. Instead he would do the following:
- Cloudstar would meet with the Galeclan leader to try to get their support in making a deal with Mistclan so that everyone could drink from the lake
- If Galeclan agreed, he and the Galeclan leader would make their case with the Mistclan leader. If not, Cloudstar would go alone.
- Simultaneously, he would send patrols out to scour their territory for any possible hidden sources of water; it’s always best to be self sustaining
- If none of these things worked, he would resort to a covert operation.

[googlefont=Playfair Display,900][googlefont=Nunito,400,400i,700,700i][googlefont=Space Mono] [attr="class","grclangrad"]1 MY APPLICATION FOR gorgeclan leader [attr="class","cp cp-info"] basic information Name: HERONDIVE Age: 78 MOONS Gender: SHE-CAT Biography: Link.Clan: STONECLAN Rank: SENIOR WARRIOR Former apprentice(s): MEADOWFLIGHT general questions [attr="class","cp cp-question"] - Why do you want to take this position?
In short, I miss it. Some of my fondest memories surround being launched into the position woefully unprepared with Hawkwing a few months after I joined the site. Hawkstar became such a significant part of my drive to write throughout his time on the boards. From learning to be leader, to rebuilding a Clan that had been shattered by war they had so little control over, to doing everything he could to soothe the hate that bubbled beneath the pelts of the younger generation, Hawkstar was my biggest challenge but also my greatest accomplishment on the site. I loved working with the staff members and the other Clan leaders to create interesting dynamics that wouldn't shake the foundations of a Clan (because I'd had it done to me; I'M LOOKIN' AT YOU FAWN ):< ) but now we're in an era where the foundation has already been shaken and a new stability is so desperately needed. I'd love a new challenge to take up, and to see first hand just where the new Clans are headed. - What traits do you believe would make your character a good fit for leader of GorgeClan?
Herondive grew up among the uncertain times of StoneClan ravaged by StormClan. She let that hatred fester in her heart, and for a time despised anyone who was not StoneClan. It was her father, Hawkstar, and her mentor, Eagletalon, who ultimately guided her on the path to relinquishing that hate. She made her mistakes, going so far as to falling in love with the TreeClan medicine cat. Though her loyalty was eventually curved back to StoneClan, this rough upbringing has taught her to try and be fair in passing judgment upon those not born of StoneClan. She has spent a lot of time teaching herself that the actions of an individual or a group of individuals does not represent that of an entire Clan, and she will work hard to ensure that everyone feels at home in GorgeClan, regardless of their Clan of origin. She has inherited her father's belief in family being the core of a Clan. A family that goes beyond blood. It is the trust in one another than makes the foundation of a Clan, and in a time where Clans are merging, her belief could certainly come in handy. She has grown thoughtful with age, and is no longer likely to rush headlong into decisions recklessly. At 78 moons, she has had plenty of time to make mistakes, and to learn from them. If she were to be made leader, she would do her best to bring that to the Clan. Something she admired greatly from her father's time as leader was his use of a council in terms of making difficult decisions. She would likely bring this to her reign as leader, but go further to ensure the council includes more variety in it than just well-respected senior warriors. She'd be interested in hearing the thoughts and concerns of as many as possible, while still remaining efficient in her dealing of situations. Less of a trait, and more of a fact: Herondive isn't the youngest cat in the world anymore. She only has a little while left, so she wouldn't be walking the leader path for years on end. Through working with, say, a younger deputy, Herondive could help GorgeClan find its foundations, and ensure that they are in good paws with a younger leader for the future. - What flaws does your character possess that might impact their role as leader?
Herondive isn't always certain she's making the right choice. It can make her hesitant at times, especially with the weight of her father's legacy suspended over her. As a leader, she would constantly question herself as to whether her father would have made the same choice as her or not. She would have as much growing to do as the newly born GorgeClan, but given the changes that have been brought upon the Clan lands, perhaps this isn't a terrible thing. Her theoretical council would help with some of this, though she would still need to work on being firm with her decisions when necessary. One of the lingering darknesses in her heart remains the unwillingness of other Clans to help StoneClan when they had needed it most. She doesn't want anyone to ever have to go through what her Clan did, and thus turning away those in need will be something she will struggle with mentally. It is likely that her deputy and council will be relied upon in situations involving Clans asking for help. She is a believer in second chances. Having grown up far from the image of a perfect daughter, she believes that cats change. Though this can be seen as a good thing, there are situations in which she may be too lenient when punishment is due. Don't get her wrong; if your actions purposely harm someone, you will see little mercy from her. But she doesn't necessarily believe in dolling out the harshest punishment right off the back. She believed that some of her father's punishments and criticisms were unwarranted and would aim to be a more 'fair' leader; perhaps not always the optimal decision for the Clan. There is a part of Herondive that does still want to have her own family. Although she hasn't had kits yet, they are not out of the picture for her just yet. Thus, at some point, her deputy may have to take on more responsibility than typical, while she births and nurses the kittens. Of course, this is but a theoretical, as she does not currently have a love interest. Just something to consider. - Are you confident that you will be able to maintain activity as leader?
As I mentioned before, Hawkstar was a big part of what drove me to write. When I couldn't find the muse for a character, I would turn to Hawkstar and he would rekindle it. Since his passing, I've struggled to find someone capable of doing that for me; Herondive is the closest I have, though right now she lacks plots since all of hers have fallen through for various reasons. Leadership would provide her guaranteed plots, and a new drive to write. I've upkept two high rank positions before, and do believe I could do it again. [attr="class","cp cp-paw"] scenario I The cream-and-white leader stepped from the dark confines of her den to gaze upon the stars. She found herself looking to them more and more often; though she did believe in a StarClan, she wasn't so foolish as to believe the sky would bring her an answer. The quiet stillness simply brought her comfort. This nightly stargazing had become a ritual to her. Sometimes, she would speak to her father. Whether he could hear her or not mattered little. She just needed to hear her problems out loud sometimes. To voice them so they became real, acknowledged. Heronstar knew she couldn't keep it all bottled inside her.
A pale ear twitched as a sound disturbing the silent night. Brilliant blue eyes blinked, dropping from Silverpelt above to the walking world around her. It was the briefest of glimpses, but she caught the back end of Ruetail's form disappearing from the Clan's entrance. Her ears pricked forward, and her heart clenched in her chest as she remembered the argument she'd witnessed but a few days ago. Concerns that Cloverfoot had been correct in her assessment of Ruetail's disappearances suddenly overtook her. Stepping down from her den entrance, the she-cat took a less inconspicuous way out of camp. Pausing briefly by the camp guard to let them know she was going out for a walk, Heronstar was quick to veer toward where she'd last seen Ruetail.
Quick to pick up on the scent trail, the GorgeClan leader pushed her strong hindlegs to propel her forward quickly but quietly. Since her focus was more toward speed than not making any noise, it didn't take all too long before Ruetail's trotting form came into view. Slowing to a walk when she drew within earshot of the other she-cat, Heronstar gave a friendly "Ruetail." as a greeting.
Despite her efforts to not startled the other she-cat, Ruetail's distracted state meant she didn't hear the well-built leader's approach and quite nearly jumped out of her pelt. Wide and guilty eyes snapped toward Heronstar as the younger she-cat suddenly stammered. "H-Heronstar! What are you- I was just- I mean, lovely night?" Dipping her head in acknowledgment of her name, Heronstar lowered herself to a seat. MistClan scent drifted to her on the wind, only further feeding the question in her mind. When Heronstar spoke again, her voice was quiet, but it held no accusation to it.
"Are you visiting him again tonight?" The question seemed to take Ruetail aback, and though she tried several times to say something, only distressed sounds left her maw. With a wave of Heronstar's tail and a shake of her head, Heronstar continued. "I am not hear to judge, Ruetail. I... I'm hear to offer you my take. I don't require an answer from you tonight, only that you listen to what I have to say. Can you do that?" Hesitantly, Ruetail nodded, though she glanced over her shoulder as though waiting for something.
"I fell in love with a TreeClan tom when I was still a StoneClan cat. I lived with my paws in two worlds, because he couldn't abandon his role in the Clan, and I lacked the courage to leave StoneClan. I lived through exactly what you're doing now; late nights to see him, sleepless nights counting down the days until I'd see him next. And... And it's was taxing. On me, on him, and on our Clans. I'm not here to tell you not to see him. I'm here to tell you... Don't live with your paws in two Clans. Ruetail, if he brings you happiness, make you choice together. Should you decide to go to MistClan, I will walk you to the border and wish you farewell myself. If he decides to join GorgeClan, I will do everything in my power to ensure he is welcomed as a GorgeClan cat. But for your sake... You need to make your choice eventually." The smile that crossed Heronstar's features was tinged with regret that could only come from someone who knew the pain. "Go, visit him tonight. But don't tarry on this decision."
With a wave of her tail, the GorgeClan leader turned to set off back toward her den. Blue eyes drifted toward the sky once more. I'm sorry, Dad. I... I know you wouldn't have said the same. But my broken heart tells me I did the right thing. scenario II [attr="class","cp cp-squirrel"] Brilliant blue eyes blinked in alarm at the shrill voice of Tawnywish. The squirrel at her paws was quickly forgotten as it became clear to Heronstar that Tawnywish would not wait on this issue. Slowly rising to a sit and licking her lips to clear them of any of her meal's debris, Heronstar considered the situation before her. Pale ears tilted backward as her gaze dropped to her paws while the cream and white leader wracked her brain for a solution. Clearing her throat softly, she looked back up at the gathered group.
"H-Hang on Tawnywish." She half-choked on a remaining piece of her prey before continuing. "I understand your concern. I will admit, I didn't consider that this could be an issue." Looking toward Thrushfoot, she offered what she hoped was a reassuring smile. "I can't say I wouldn't do exactly what Thrushfoot did, especially with a new apprentice. As warriors, don't we all want to look good in front of our apprentices?" Lifting her tail to request silence as Tawnywish looked ready to argue once more, Heronstar couldn't stop herself from chewing nervously on the inside of her cheek before she continued.
"Our territories have changed, just as our Clan compositions have changed, Tawnywish. It is of no fault to Thrushfoot or Rustythorn that they aren't... Well, comfortable or confident hunting in trees. I imagine, however, that you'd encounter something similar if you put Brackenwing on those steep slopes to teach Darkpaw. Again, not a fault of Brackenwing. This is not TreeClan, just as it is not StoneClan. Moving forward, we are GorgeClan. And if we are going to be GorgeClan, then we need to help one another."
Her tail curled over her paws as she swallowed, desperately hoping that what she would say next would satisfy the disgruntled parents while also leading toward a better GorgeClan. "In the short term, I'll make sure that Brackenwing and Darkpaw spend time duo training with both Rustythorn and Thrushfoot and their apprentices. Not only will Brackenwing help teach hunting techniques for the trees to the apprentices and their mentors, Brackenwing and Darkpaw will also learn from the others how to hunt on the open grounds and slopes. In the long term, all GorgeClan cats will need to learn the techniques to hunt appropriately in any environment present in GorgeClan's new territory. Tawnywish, Tinystrike, I would be honored if both of you would partake in this endeavor, to help spread your expertise to all those who need it. In fact, if you would allow it, I'd... I'd be honored to have you teach me TreeClan's ways in the near future." [attr="class","cp cp-drop"] scenario III Her tail flicked nervously behind her as she paced along the inside of her den. She could feel her deputy's eyes on her as she moved, though the thrummed of her heart was far more off-putting to her than that sense of being watched. Steal from another Clan? Surely that wasn't the answer, right? There had to be some other way; Heronstar wanted to avoid taking from another Clan as had been done to StoneClan so many moons ago. Yet a piece of her kept screaming that lives were at stake. They couldn't keep going like this for long; already complaints of thirst were becoming a daily occurrence. How long before even the stream refused to produce what little it could?
"N...No. I'll go talk to MistClan myself. Perhaps, leader to leader, we... We can come to an agreement. I have to believe that MistClan is not unreasonable. We... We'll deal with GaleClan later; the water is our primary concern. I will leave for the MistClan border as sunhigh passes." The deputy glanced away from her for a moment, and Heronstar grit her teeth. It made her sick to her stomach to think what could happen during that meeting. What if MistClan refused? What did GorgeClan have to bargain? A looming promise, an IOU... This was a terrible thing for a Clan to be saddled with but what else could she do?
Her Clan needed water, and her loyalty had to lie with GorgeClan. This... This is what her father would have done. Surely MistClan and GorgeClan could work something out. And if they didn't? A darkness passed over her eyes before she slowly looked up toward her deputy once more. "Speak to our slimmest and quickest warriors. But... Only ones who have the right temperament to... To accept what must be done. I will return before moon-high. Take a patrol to MistClan's border while I'm gone, and take note of... Of their patrol patterns. If I don't come back with an answer to our problem..."
The bile was thick in her throat and stomach as she barely managed to choke out the next words. Father, forgive me. "Take the patrol over MistClan's border, and take what you can." [newclass=.grclangrad]font-family:icomoon;font-size:50px;color:#6a914a;div-align:center;[/newclass]

[googlefont=Playfair Display,900][googlefont=Nunito,400,400i,700,700i][googlefont=Space Mono] [attr="class","grclangrad"]1 MY APPLICATION FOR gorgeclan leader [attr="class","cp cp-info"] basic information Name: Whitehawk. (Will add his image soon) Age: 61 Moons. Gender: Tom. Biography: Link.Clan: Stoneclan. Rank: Warrior. Former apprentice(s): Whitecry (Status Unknown), Tigerblaze (Fae), Wisteriapaw (Fae - Current). general questions [attr="class","cp cp-question"] - Why do you want to take this position?
I've been apart of Fate for almost 3 years now (holy hell, it does not feel like that long >.>) and I have always adored our clans and all of our characters. This site has been a relatively big part of my life for a good while now, and in that while I have been fortunate enough to watch as some long-lasting Leaders who were here for years fall, I've seen new ones rise, and the impact those characters left on the valley in character and how important they were to our members as well. Seeing just how much these characters, all created by some amazing and talented people in our community, meant to everyone both in and out of character and just how big of a mark they left during their times in Leadership, it is honestly extremely inspiring. So many grand cats left a large impact on their respective clans and formed them into what they were. And with these new clans forming and merging together, it would be an honor to play as the cat who got to impact the fate and story of Gorgeclan in its formation. - What traits do you believe would make your character a good fit for leader of GorgeClan?
When it comes to safety and the well-being of others, Whitehawk is just like his namesake: a hawk. Despite only having one eye, that one eye is always looking out for those around him and ensuring that those he cares for are safe. And, a perk with the merging of the clans, his range of those he cares for extends further than just those originally from Stoneclan. Non-xenophobic and greatly empathetic towards all of the cats within the valley, regardless of clan or background, he would never hold a bias towards those from his own original clan and would do what he could to make the merge as smooth as possible. In this same fashion, when it came to politics with the other clans, he understands the importance of everyone working together, but also keeping their space. Should the other clans need assistance, he would look for some sort of deal or agreement to help them, and should Gorgeclan ever need help, he would ask for help in return. On the opposite side of things, if any conflicts were ever to arise with the other clans, he would use logic and rationale to look for a peaceful and non-violent alternative, or just a way to smooth things over. He understands that Leaders must do what they feel is best for their clans, and as long as the decisions of the others do not harm his own clan, he will continue to support them. Cross-clan politics aside, within Gorgeclan itself, Whitehawk has always been someone to naturally gravitate towards the role of a mentor. Eager to pass on his own knowledge and the knowledge he has learned from others, he takes great pride in watching as the new generations of cats rise within the clan. While he himself is currently on Apprentice #3, even beyond his own Apprentices, he has always been a volunteer when it came to helping with the training of others. Him becoming a Leader would not change this fact; he would continue to train his own Apprentice, as well as assist anyone who may need it, or hold group training sessions with multiple Apprentices and mentors. Ensuring that the next generation of Warriors is well trained in the ways of their kind is of great importance - they will be trusted protectors of the clan one day, afterall. In addition, while Whitehawk is always looking to find ways to please those around him and make sure that everyone is well and happy, he is no pushover. He would not allow the other Leaders to put him down, nor would he let anyone within Gorgeclan do so either. He understands that, with cats from multiple clans forming into one, things will be difficult, things will be tense. But it would become his duty to solve these inner-clan conflicts, and should he make a decision that some do not like, he would not let a couple of opposing opinions sway his choice if it was chosen for good reason. You can never truly make everyone happy. Of course, he would not simply ignore the voices of his clanmates, quite the opposite. He would look for any input and advice he could get from everyone on things they feel he can improve, things he should focus on, ect. And should those voices change his decision, then so be it, as long as it is for the better. In the end, he is only one cat, and he may not always be what everyone wants, but he sure as hell will try. Finally, there is something a little bit unique about the sort of Leader Whttehawk would wish to become, something that could be seen as good or bad, but good in his own opinion. Whitehawk would be a Leader, not a dictaor. He knows that he is not perfect, nor will he ever make what everyone would consider the "right" decision. So, in an attempt to make light of those situations, when it comes to his own clanmates, he does not lead with an iron paw. More often times than not, if he is handling a situation within the clan, he will give those in question options rather than make a declaration. Not all situations are fair, and often times there is a very hard decision to make involved. With his empathy towards others a primary trait, he would not consider it fair if he decided to make those decisions for them. Yes, he is their Leader, but he is not them. They deserve to make their own choices, as everyone does. Mind you, in extreme situations, such as handling a murderer or some other serious offense, this would not be the same. In those cases he would make the decision, and he would make it for the good of everyone. But besides those cases, he offers choices, not demands. And should they make their choice, they chose their own fate. They cannot take it back so soon after making it. Should someone return with regrets or a genuine case for themselves, perhaps he will reverse the choice. But, as in life itself, no one ever gets three chances. - What flaws does your character possess that might impact their role as leader?
Something that some others tend to notice about Whitehawk, which in a way can relate to his above listed positive traits, is that he greatly cares for all cats, not just those within his own clan. And should it ever happen that another Leader asked for his help, he likely wouldn't be able to say no unless it was for an extreme reason, such as his own clan having too many troubles at the same time. Open to deals and negotiations of many sorts, it is highly likely that some within Gorgeclan would suspect that he doesn't hold their wellbeing first, or priortizes the well-being of the other clans far more than he should. Which is not correct, Gorgeclan would always be his top priority, but if he did fall into the position of Leader, he would feel far more sympathy for the other Leaders than before. They would also be handling the merge, like himself, and even in the future he knows that they too want what is best for their clans. If he could configure any possible way to assist the other clans, he would, which could be both good and bad in multiple aspects if he makes a decision to help another clan when the rest of his own does not approve. Something else that could possibly be both good and bad depending on the scenario, and in relation to his empathy, Whitehawk would never be one to turn down outsiders or those in need. Cats such as loners or lost kits would likely be welcomed immediately, which by themselves isn't too horrible. But you can never truly predict what sort of effect the welcoming of non-clan cats will go with the rest of the clan, especially now that there are multiple clans forming into one already. To sort of lighten that situation, in the beginning he would be slightly more hesitant towards rogues and cats from the other clans. The merge was recent and everyone had the chance to pick where they wanted to go; if you didn't want to be in the clan you are/were in, why did you go there? He would be suspicious due to this at first, but further down the long he would likely be more lenient on it, which could potentially cause problems depending on who he lets in. Now, all of this doesn't necessarily mean that he would allow these outsiders to stay if they ended up causing trouble, but sometimes even the presence of someone unknown can cause a disturbance, or they will cause it themselves. And should that ever happen, Whitehawk would then have to face the consequences of his own actions. In addition, Whitehawk tends to be a little bit...strict...and kind of overprotective, if that would be the word. Or perhaps paranoid would be more accurate. His concern and focus on safety for his clanmates heavily lingers for a long time, almost annoyingly long. When it came to dangerous situations, he would likely overdo every order he gave and treat every situation as if it would be life or death of the clan itself, even if it very much is not. In a similar way, this would go towards multiple aspects of his Leadership style. Extra long recovery periods for those injured or sick, extra moons for Apprentices who might not be doing as well as they think or if there are too many other things happening in the clan, multiple assessments conducted by specifically himself, or in different punishment scenarios. This part would depend on the severity, but due to his extreme focus on safety, a clanmate doing something that would put others in danger, or plotting some sort of scheme, or even causing trouble between Gorgeclan and the other clans, he would likely not be overly forgiving. Under normal circumstances, as a Warrior, he would be more reasonable. But as a Leader, he could not afford to let someone take those sort of actions. Its hard to say exactly what he would do for certain situations unless they did arise, but the punishments would likely be either rather severe or just very long. Though, in a way he sort of combats his own harshness in the end. He could punish someone, he could notice patterns in their behavior that are not to his liking, they could take some course of action that is awful or seen as fround upon. But, in time, should they return claiming to have "changed", he would give them the benefit of the doubt, which could be a large mistake. From that point, the process would likely repeat. - Are you confident that you will be able to maintain activity as leader?
I will admit that I have had activity dips in the past, we all have. Now that I have a job, while also facing personal mental struggles,I do sometimes find that acitivty is difficult. But I do truly believe that if Whitehawk was given this position, that responsibility would fuel me to have more muse and involve myself more when it comes to plots with everyone I can. And quite honestly I really actually like organizing, making to-do lists, all that. That feeling of looking at a full to-do list and seeing everything checked off is just so damn satisfying. Plus, I have seen firsthand some of the responsibilities players of multiple other Leaders have done during their time, and usually seeing something done helps you do the same thing yourself. And even if I did struggle with any of the responsiblities or have some acitivty trouble, I would make sure that I voice this or ask for help rather than stay quiet. I know what sort of commiment is coming with submitting this application, and by doing it anyway, I know what is expected of me and fully intend to follow through with my responsibilities. [attr="class","cp cp-paw"] scenario I It was to be expected that the beginning would be very rocky. Cats from different groups, all of which had different lifestyles, coming together to form one. There was sure to be conflicts and differences, all of which he would have to work through. Though, admittedly, the issue he found himself facing in this moment was...not one he was prepared for.
“You think...Ruetail is seeing a Mistclan tom?” Whitestar’s voice was full of confusion, as was his expression. Multiple questions came to his mind, none of which had answers that made sense to him. He glanced to the side, considering her words. He turned back, brows furrowed slightly. “What proof do you have of this? Have you actually seen her doing this or do you suspect that she is?” The answer he was given troubled him greatly. Ruetail had been spotted sneaking out of camp at night? How could that be? Just in that sentence alone there were multiple concerns that came to mind. For one, a clanmate sneaking off to see someone from another clan, and so soon after the merge? And for two, how was someone managing to sneak out in the first place? Whitestar had made sure to have at least three guards posted around camp during the night, since the clan still wasn’t fully accustomed to the territory, so how was she finding a way out? Both of these problems were things that would need heavily investigated. But the sun was already falling below the mountains in the distance...he would have to just inform the guards to keep an extra eye out until the next morning.
Whitestar had hoped that this would be a good enough temporary solution until daylight returned, but as night fell over the valley and the clan settled in, he found he was unable to sleep. The white tom’s chin rested on his paws, his eyes looking out towards the camp from the entrance of his den. He listened intently to the quiet sounds that drifted across the gorge into the camp, but it was not a sound that caught his attention. For a cat with only one eye, even he was surprised that he caught the movement out of its corner. It still caught his attention, nonetheless.
His head lifted, peering across the camp to see a figure slinking along the edges of the dens. To his surprise, he lost sight of them, their form disappearing almost in thin air. Any signs of drowsiness forgotten, he got to his paws, padding from the den and out into camp. He made his way to where the other feline disappeared and, much to his surprise and displeasure, he found a small hole carved into the thicket branches that grew along the outer edge of the camp. A frown formed on his face as he turned, padding to the entrance of the camp itself.
“Fernsight, Willownose, I am heading out for a walk. I won’t be far.” He nodded to the two guards on post before ascending into the gorge below, turning to walk along the large crack in the earth. He had hoped that he would not find what he suspected he would, but alas, he did. Ruetail’s scent found his nostrils rather quickly, just as the movement in the far distance of the gorge caught his gaze. He followed quietly behind, watching the smaller she-cat ahead of him closely. He would not lose sight of her again. She didn’t seem to notice him, which brought him to believe that she was set in wherever she was going. Suddenly she stopped, glancing around her upwards at the walls of the gorge, primarily to one side. The side opposite of further into the territory. She’s looking for a way up. He too stopped where he was, looking to the side and quickly scanning the wall. He managed to find a series of small boulders that stuck out in an odd pattern along the slope. Ruetail, as far as he knew, didn’t have as much experience with the more rocky terrain that those once from Stoneclan had. This sort of pattern wouldn’t have seemed like a viable way up, but it was for him. He ascended the side of the gorge, reaching the top relatively quickly and padded along the cliffside. Just as he suspected, not too far ahead he saw movement come over the edge of the cliffside, a head followed by a body.
“This isn’t exactly the best place for a casual night stroll, you know.” At his voice, Ruetail froze in place, wide eyes finding him quickly. She didn’t speak, her mouth moving to do so, but voice failing her. The large white tom slowly approached, eye locked with her own the whole way, though she looked away many times.
“I..I just...I’ve been wanting to..practice climbing and-”
“You don’t have to lie to me, Ruetail.”
The two both went silent for a minute, the she-cat looking for some defense or excuse while Whitestar waited. She didn’t seem to find the words, so he chose to speak instead.
“I know about the argument between you and Cloverfoot. And I need to know if what I was told is true.”
She visibly swallowed, still unable to meet his gaze. She continued to remain silent, her eyes fallen to her paws. When she did eventually speak, her voice was low and audibly hurt. “I...I liked him...before the merge….he chose a different clan than I did...”
A spark of empathy went through his chest. He didn’t want to pry, but there also had to be a reasoning behind them not going together. “What made you choose not to follow?”
“......family…”
“I see…” Whitestar looked in the distance to where he knew Mistclan’s territory to be. On one hand, he understood. In a situation like that, he too would have chosen to stay with his sister and those closest to him. But at the same time, the course of action she was taking to combat her own decision and his...it was not going to work. He let out a sigh, looking to her.
“Listen. I can see that this hurts you. You had to choose between the tom that you like, maybe even love, and your family, and you chose family. That is something that I respect; I know that decision likely wasn’t easy. But...you can’t take back your decision now. Everyone was allowed to choose where they wished to go, you had both options to pick from, and you made your choice. You couldn’t have both, so you had to choose, and that statement still stands in this moment. You chose to live in Gorgeclan while he chose to live in Mistclan. You can’t make your decision and then expect to be able to dabble in the opposite choice. You are a Gorgeclan Warrior, and he is a Mistclan Warrior. Even if your relationship would have been ok previously, it isn’t now, and this cannot continue.”
Ruetail looked to him, ears flattening to her head. “But I-”
“You can’t keep sneaking off to see him. Unless you intend to leave Gorgeclan and go to Mistclan, you cannot be together. So while I am sorry about your circumstances, I have to place my paw down. I need to know, right now. Do you want to stay in Gorgeclan, or do you want to go and be with him? If you aren’t set in your loyalty, then I have no reason to trust you.” His voice was regretful, but he had no choice. “If you wish to be with him, then you may go. But if you go, I expect you to stay there. If you wish to stay with Gorgeclan, then we can go back to camp together, and you will not be permitted to go anywhere outside of camp alone for a while.” He paused, glancing sideways. “And that hole in the wall you made for yourself? I am going to have it patched and fixed first thing in the morning. So you need to choose.” scenario II [attr="class","cp cp-squirrel"] It was a very warm feeling that bloomed in the hearts of many the day that some of the first kits of Gorgeclan were born. That day, Whitestar had gone to visit the Nursery personally, a feeling of pride swirling in him when he first laid his gaze on the three little ones at Tawnywish’s side. There was something almost satisfying, looking down at the three. These were Gorgeclan kits. Not previously-Treeclan or previously-Stoneclan kits. They were Gorgeclan, and Gorgeclan only. A very similar feeling, only multiplied tenfold, came the day that he stood upon the clan meeting-place, calling out to the clan in ceremony. Those same kits were becoming Apprentices, and he had spent quite a lot of time considering who the best mentors for them would be. He had made his decision based on personality and ability; in truth he had not even taken into account what clans each of his candidates came from. He focused on skill and knowledge, and he had hoped that he chose the right cats for the job. But as fluffed-up tails and troubled faces came storming towards him hardly any time later, it seemed his hopes had not followed through.
“Whitestar! This is unacceptable!” Tawnywish’s voice was the first that he heart, for her tone and the volume of her voice rose above all the rest.
“What is-” He was cut off as the she-cat continued on, clearly enraged, and rather than stop to listen, she seemed persistent in putting her whole case in his paws at once. He listened carefully to what she said, speaking what he interpreted as her opinion on the training of her children. Though he remained quiet and allowed her to finish, there was a twinge of anger in his temple as the two mentors in question were referred to as ‘Stoneclan Warriors’. As she seemingly finished with her outburst of concerns, another within the group began to speak, but a flick of his tail and an ear signalled for them to wait. When he spoke, there was no hiding the flecks of both disappointment and annoyance in his voice as he addressed Tawnywish.
“Firstly, the way you have presented all of this to me is also unacceptable.” He saw Tawnywish blink a few times in surprise, but he continued. “You spoke of these two as if they were from some other clan, but they are not. Regardless of where any of the adults in the group present were once from, we are now all of the same clan. Yourself, your mate, and all three of these Warriors are Warriors of Gorgeclan, and I expect you address them correctly.” He just barely caught the small reactionary glances he received from the others at his scold, but no one spoke.
“Now...” He turned to Rustythorn. “I know that you are a good Warrior, you are a good teacher, and you are very smart. Despite not having as much experience with that of the forests, I know that you would not avoid them or neglect to at least try and teach your Apprentice how to go through those areas. I do believe that you have been doing your best, and I am very grateful for your efforts.”
A more troubled look crossed his features as the white tom then turned his attention to Thrushfoot, his eyes taking on a harder expression. “As for you, it seems to me you are admitting to doing that exact thing. I understand that trying to teach someone about an area you are not familiar with is difficult, but you cannot just refuse to teach your Apprentice how to traverse the area that makes up a large portion of our territory. That sort of teaching not only puts your Apprentice at risk and at a large disadvantage to their peers, but it could also cause problems in the future when they become a Warrior, and I will not have that.” He paused only for a moment, glancing between the others before looking back. “If need be, I will start forming small training parties with a mixture of cats who are familiar with either the open lands or the forest so that everyone can learn the territory better. But if this behavior continues, I will have no choice but to assign your Apprentice to another Warrior more capable of training them, unless you would prefer that to be done so right now.”
His single green-yellow eye looked at each of the cats in the party, gaze finding its way to the three Apprentices. “Crowpaw, Darkpaw, Softpaw, I would like the three of you to go to Ebonyheart and see if she needs any help for the day.” Whitestar then turned to the adults of the party. “Tawnywish, Tinystrike, the two of you will be joining the next hunting patrol sent into the territory. Thrushfoot, Rustythorn, I will call for you both when I am ready. I am going to find -Deputy name- and discuss getting all of our Warriors trained in how to work in all parts of our territory.”
With this, he flicked his tail in dismissal, waiting for all of them to depart before letting out a sigh. He had to hope that this would be the only time something like this would be presented to him, though he had his doubts.
[attr="class","cp cp-drop"] scenario III - Due to the length an IC post of this would take, this one will be explained rather than written out. - - Whitestar would take note of the actions of the other clans, both those of Galeclan trespassing seeking water and those of Mistclan heavily guarding their large supply of water.
- Before anything else, he would be quick to turn down and highly discourage his Deputy in their suggestion and their way of thinking in this scenario. One of Whitestar’s large priorities is keeping the relationship between Gorgeclan and the other clans as peaceful as possible to avoid unneeded violence. And while he gets where they are coming from with Mistclan being so protective and Gorgeclan falling ill, such actions would do far more harm than it would good.
- He would first focus on Galeclan, for crossing borders for any reason holds more concern than another clan guarding their border heavier than normal. He would seek out the Leader of Galeclan, likely in a private location along the border and with other Warriors from both clans by their sides. He would make the argument that while he does understand that Galeclan needs water, Gorgeclan is also in need of water in these hard times and that sending patrols into Gorgeclan territory is pointless, for they have no more water than Galeclan itself.
- He would instead suggest that they both take one of two courses of action: Both clans seek out water outside of the territory of any of the three clans, along their outer borders that aren’t shared OR they both request a meeting with the Leader of Mistclan to try and work out a solution.
---Should they decide to seek water elsewhere, Whitestar would hold up his agreement and would begin to send patrols along their outer borders in search of any remaining ponds, lakes, ect. that they may not have found during the exploration time period. ---Should they agree to try and meet with the Mistclan Leader, Whitestar would have one or two of his own Warriors, as well as one or two Galeclan Warriors if they were willing to do so, go together into Mistclan territory and send the message that the other two Leaders wish to meet with their’s. - In the event that the Mistclan Leader agreed to the meeting, as well as the Galeclan Leader, Whitestar would attend the meeting and would likely step forward to give his proposition, as well as listen to any suggestions from the other two. In an attempt to solve the situation as peacefully as possible, Whitestar would offer to make a fair trade: If Mistclan would be willing to share a small portion of their lake with Galeclan and Gorgeclan until the drought was over, Whitestar would allow Mistclan to share a small outer-ring portion of Gorgeclan’s territory for hunting during Leafbare, since they likely rely on the water for much of their food.
---If the Mistclan Leader accepted these terms, they would discuss where exactly in the lake they are allowed to partake from, and Whitestar would demand that all of his clanmates follow these limitations and do not cause trouble with either of the other clans during their time in this area. And when Leafbare arrived, he would more than likely meet briefly with the Mistclan Leader privately, and if they make it known that their prey is running low, he would put his offer into action and would show what portion of his territory the two clans would temporarily share until Newleaf. ---If they did not accept the offer and insisted that they were going to keep the water for their own clan, Whitestar would attempt to convince them to change their mind for the betterment of all of the clans. But if in the end he was not able to change their mind, he would revert back to his initial plan discussed with Galeclan: seek out water outside the clan territories.

I haven't been on the site for awhile for a various of health reasons and such like that, among other issues I've been having in real life. Now that I'm back, I want to contribute back to the site that I have missed for all these months. I feel that I would be a lot active on here with the position as leader and that both me and Crowstalker can grow as a part of this. - What traits do you believe would make your character a good fit for leader of GorgeClan?
Crowstalker is an intelligent, and observant cat. I feel that he would make a good leader because of these traits that was bestowed upon him from his former mentor, and that he can use what he learned from her to benefit his clan. He's very loyal and pride's himself in protecting something that he vows and cherishes. As leader he would protect his clan and everyone in it with his life. - What flaws does your character possess that might impact their role as leader?
As mentioned above, Crowstar is a very protective cat. He cares a lot about those who are in his life and while this is a good thing it can be a vad thing as well. His loyalty to those he loves, can always turn him into an overprotective and overbearing cat. It will be to the point that the ones he loves and are loyal too, could possibly be smothered by him. Also and while he's intelligent. This does not mean he's the smartest cat ever. He's young and can easily make mistakes like everyone Coupled with his lack of experience as a leader, his intelligence can easily make him believe he knows what's right, even when he's wrong. - Are you confident that you will be able to maintain activity as leader?
I know life has its struggles but I am done being absent from the site. My active will increase and I know that I will be able to maintain my activity as leader. I jumped at the opportunity to prove that I can be active and that I would be devoted to the postion if I am awarded it. As for how active I would be, I would be as active as I can be. I would personally be on every day as long as real life will allow me to be, but I will be ten times more active than I am now. If I also able to get this position, I would restart everything on the site and would keep Crowstalker as my only character, that way I can keep him updated for the site. [attr="class","cp cp-paw"] scenario I The conversation that he had previously had with Cloverfoot spun around and around in the leader's head like a kit playing mossball. While he had not taken her words to heart, at that moment. He had dismissed her with a simple wording that he would see it for himself. Crowstar had to admit, that he was vaguley concerned about the entire situation that had occurred. Which was the only reason why he lay out in the middle of clan. Nightfall had long since darkened the camp, basking the normally wide and active view with casting shadows, and low rumbling snores from the nearby dens.
The young leader, eyes casing pools of amber, cast themselves out upon the warrior's den. There had been no movement since he had left the comforts of his own den, awhile before, an uneasy determination alone, keeping him from drifting off to sleep. The wanting to prove that Cloverfoot 's accusations had truth to them, the only thing that was keeping him awake. Of course there was much more than that as well. A mingling of so many different cats into a new clan, would of course bring out problems so early on. In Crowstar's mind, it was all about squashing the problems before they became a bigger problem down the line. A single triangular ear flickered, and there was a flicker of movement as a slim figure slowly emerged from the warrior den's entrance. The slim shape, hidden well, but not well enough was easily recognizable.
Crowstar was silent in his observation, his eyes glued on the she-cat. Obviously lacking the training she had been taught (which had Crowstar, questioning his own motive for making her a warrior in the first place), the she-cat made no move to check her surroundings. It seemed she was determined to get out of camp as fast as she could, because she hadn't even taken the time to even notice that she was being watched. She moved, effortless and quietly however. Slowly moving herself out of the camp's entrance, until her form disappeared off into the forest. Crowstar slowly pulled himself to his feet, and padded off towards the direction she had gone towards. He paused briefly, taking in the scents before moving to follow behind her. His paws were silent as they carried him, forward, lost in the darkness of the night and the full sounds of other animals scurrying around. Ruetail's scent was clear and evident to the young leader and the thick smell of MistClan, clearly told him enough, as their clan's scent bathed over his tongue.
Cloverfoot had been right.
Slowing to a stop, in a few bushes nearby, Crowstalker, slowly lowered himself to the ground. His tail flicked silently as his glaze fell upon Ruetail, who had thankfully, not crossed the border. But being so near, with ears perked and eyes glued outwards, had Crowstalker, pondering who she was waiting for. The leader, didn't have to wait long. A few moment's passed before the nearby bushes rustled, and a figure emerged, approaching from MistClan's territory. It was, a pretty short haired brown she-cat who clearly had no oppostion to disreguarding the marker. That was shown when she jumped the border, without so much as a thought and moved towards Ruetail.
"Ruetail" The other she-cat purled happily, nosing Ruetail gently, "I'm glad you came"
"I'm glad I came too," Ruetail said softly. "I missed you, Maplepetal, I wouldn't have missed this for the world. I'm sorry it took so long to come back to see you. I have to be more guarded now a days, especially since Cloverfoot won't get off my back about seeing you.."
Maplepetal gave a sympathetic sniff, before letting out a sigh. "She's so nosy, I wish she would just leave us alone"
Ruetail's tail twitched but she nodded, "I agree but she wont...and I guess I do understand where she's coming from. This is...going against so many clan rule-"
Maplepetal snorted interrupting, "I don't think she's right at all! We love each other! Why should it matter that we are from different clans? I want to be with you, Ruetail and you want to be with me, right?" Ruetail nodded, and in that Mapletail continued, her tone more confident, "Well in that case, you should join MistClan, that way we can be together all the time!"
Still very much hidden as the conversation continued, Crowstar, felt his entire body stiffen and his eyes flash at the mere thought of this. While regretfully, he was not close to Ruetail, she was still a warrior of his clan and the mere idea of her leaving, his clan. A low growl began to seep out from the corner of his maw, and clearly tired of this, he slowly pulled himself from his hiding place.
"That is quite enough" He called out to both she-cats, who immediately gasped when the noticed him. "Crowsta-" Ruetail gasped out, "I..I..um..I-" But Crowstar was not having any of the excuses she was planning on uttering in her defense. "I don't want to here it" He cut off simply. His tone, while angry and sharp but was surprisingly calm, even with this betrayal coming to the surface. "I expected more from one of my own warriors" He looked to Ruetail, who lowered her head in shame, but when he turned to look to the other she-cat. There was no surprise to him, that Maplepetal was much more defiant and instead glared him, the fine fur on the back of her nail, spiked and ruffled.
The leader frowned at this. The clear disregard for the rules, the obvious distain and hate in her eyes, and the earlier stepping over the border, told him something clearly. This she-cat was not bound by rules. She cared little for boundaries and would do as she wanted, whether it hurt others or not. But maybe...just maybe she really was in love with Ruetail and she alone had changed her. It was hard to really notice if that was the truth but Crowstar had grown over the course of his leadership. He could tell that it would devastate both she-cats if they weren't allowed to see other. He could only think of one option by this point and while it hurt him. He wanted to do what he could to make his warrior happy.
He let out a sigh, before shaking his head. "I do not like the way this relationship was carried out in secret and the many mindless fights this brought up but...I will not stop you from leaving with her, Ruetail" There was surprise on both she-cats faces and it was quick to melt into happiness. But Crowstalker was not done there, however. "If you do, however you will no longer be a part of GorgeClan, and if you step on this territory again, you will be treated as an outsider" Crowstar, swallowed the lump in his throat, forcing himself to continue, "If you choose to join her, in MistClan, you will relinquish your ties to this clan, too whatever family you have here...are you okay with that, Ruetail?"
There was no hesitation from the warrior. She took a glance back at Maplepetal and then looked back to Crowstar. His heart sank. He already knew her answer before she even uttered her next words. "Yes...I am...I..I love her, Crowstar. I'm sorry, I do, I...I give up my life in GorgeClan to be with her...I'm...sorry" There was sorrow in her voice, but Crowstar forced himself to only nod his head. He understood, and while had never experienced love like this, he understood what it felt like to love someone. To want to cling to them, to just be there for them and no one else. Oh, he understood that all to well.
"Very well" He spoke again, his words steady and cold and as firm as steel, "You have relinquish your position in the clan and you do this on your own accord. Leave my territory with your new mate and do not return" The two she-cats cast glances between each other before nodding. Maplepetal moved first and pulled herself back over the border, while Ruetail lingered, her eyes glued on her former leader. Crowstar, watched her in return, his glaze slowly softening after a few minutes. He bowed his head to her and smiled at her, his voice softer this time around. "Take care of yourself and be happy. I'll let your family know that you're safe. Go and live out your life, Ruetail"
That brought a dazzling smile to the she-cat and with a purr and a wave of her tail, she turned and padded over the border. Crowstar, watched for as long as he could, as the two she-cats faded back into MistClan's lands and disappeared out of sight. scenario II [attr="class","cp cp-squirrel"] Pools of amber locked onto the group of cats before them. Ears, once relaxed, now sat poised and alert as they took in the obsessive bickering. It had been but a few days since the apprentice ceremory and the apprentices once happy and filled with joy. Now sat almost dejected and disheartened behind their mentors. It seemed, as the conversation continued, the kits moods were slowly pulling them away from the once excited whims, and it was slowly beginning to drawl on Crowstar's nerves. After a moment more, he had enough.
Letting a loud yowl, that alone broke the daunting and overbearing uncomfortable bickering of this wary talk and brought all attention towards the young leader. Crowstar was silent for a brief moment, forcing the anger out of his body and took a breath. A moment later, amber pools were dancing between the party members casually, while his tail flicked. He turned towards Thrustfoot first. "Thrushfoot, I understand your relucate to teach Softpaw on lands you're more comfortable with but she needs to learn on how to hunt on other plains of the territory in order to gain experience. I suggest using another cat's expertise in the matter to help you in that areaw. In that way you can teach your apprentice, while learning yourself"
There was a mumors of agreement and a few nods, before Crowstar looked to Rustythorn and Tawnywish. "Now, Tawnywish, I know you have expertise in that area of hunting but you should not belittle Rustythorn about what she knows. Two cats are able to produce different results in training and so I suggest you both go out with your apprentices and teach them both in the areas you feel are stronger in this aspect. You can compare notes from there and then you'll be able to come up with a more precise way to do the training"
[attr="class","cp cp-drop"] scenario III "I do not want to get into an unnecessary fight with MistClan over water" Crowstar's words were sharp and blunt, and held the strong edge of steel within their depthst. It was tone that said that the idea of itself was not something he wanted to pursue and he watched his deputy's reaction in response. When there was no remark to this, the young leader let out a sigh before twitching a single ear. His tail flicked to the side, before he spoke up a moment later, "I see why MistClan is increasing their patrols and doing what they are doing, but I do not feel that giving into the urges to steal is something we have to stoop to...-"
"Then what do you suppose we do, Crowstar?"
The black tom looked towards his deputy, there was concern in his voice that pulled another sigh from the leader's lips. "The best thing I can think of that wont have us going to war, is for me to go and talk to MistClan's leader myself. I will take two warriors with me, to show that we mean no harm to MistClan or to its clan" He looked back to his deputy then, "I'll leave you to watch the clan until I return"
"And if they do not agree to letting us use their water source?"
Crowstalker frowned at this and nodded also. He knew it was a possible outcome but hadn't wanted to think about it. Still. He knew his deputy wanted his answer and he had never been the type to keep his thoughts to himself. "I hope they come to reason, for I have kits and elders to think about, but if that plan fails. I am sure there are other parts of our territory that we have not searched as of yet. Send out a few patrols to scout out more of our territory. I will return as soon as I can"
As he paddled off to form his small party to move towards MistClan, Crowstar, could only pray to StarClan, that at least one of these plans would work out. [newclass=.grclangrad]font-family:icomoon;font-size:50px;color:#6a914a;div-align:center;[/newclass]

[googlefont=Playfair Display,900][googlefont=Nunito,400,400i,700,700i][googlefont=Space Mono] [attr="class","grclangrad"]1 MY APPLICATION FOR gorgeclan leader [attr="class","cp cp-info"] basic information Name: Orioleflight. Age: 42 Moons. Gender: Female. Biography: Link.Clan: StoneClan. Rank: Warrior. Former apprentice(s): Slatewing. general questions [attr="class","cp cp-question"] - Why do you want to take this position?
Honestly? I want Orioleflight to follow in her father’s pawsteps. Wolfclaw was Hawkstar’s deputy for many seasons, and they were a powerhouse together. It’s a bit selfish of me, I know, but I loved watching StoneClan grow and transform under Wolfclaw and Hawkstar’s rule. There were so many trials they faced, so much that they went through, and it really helped to shape not only the character that Wolfclaw became, but it also shaped and defined much of my early time on the site. So, it’s a bit of nostalgia, a bit of wanting to go back, and a bit of wanting to see the torch passed on. I want to see GorgeClan (and StoneClan’s remnants) grow and prosper, to become a strong, safe Clan to raise kits in, despite their challenges and struggles. I want to see Orioleflight grow as a character to fill the legacy her father left behind. - What traits do you believe would make your character a good fit for leader of GorgeClan?
Orioleflight is, above all, a passionately loyal cat. She’s fiery and determined, and with no living blood relatives remaining, her Clan is her family. Growing up as the daughter of StoneClan’s former deputy, she learned the value of her Clanmates, and how important every member is, even down to the youngest kits. Wolfclaw taught her the importance of protecting the Clan and respecting them as family. She’s eager and energetic, more than willing and able to put herself on the frontlines to defend her Clan. Orioleflight is a very open and honest cat, and her love for StoneClan will quickly and easily extend to all of GorgeClan. She knows that they are stronger together and that it takes everyone working together to thrive. - What flaws does your character possess that might impact their role as leader?
Orioleflight hasn’t yet balanced out her fire. While she’s eager and passionate, she’s also a bit headstrong and can be hotheaded at times. She’s working hard on reigning in her emotions, and getting better at controlling her reactions, but she’s still a work in progress. Training Slatewing to warriorhood helped her to realized some of her flaws, but progress and change aren’t always easy to accomplish. Sometimes her determination and drive can turn into a single-minded focus, turning into a tunnel vision that blocks out everything else. She’s also been known to overwork herself, pushing herself past her limits either for the good of the Clan or because her single-minded determination won’t let her realize her body can’t keep up with her spirit. - Are you confident that you will be able to maintain activity as leader?
Yes! I have recently discovered I can use a bluetooth keyboard with my phone, so I don’t have to waste extra precious energy finding a place to set up my laptop xD I’m also really making an effort to get back to posting regularly, and I’m hoping that the extra responsibility will give just a little extra push~ [attr="class","cp cp-paw"] scenario I The stars offered a comforting glow as Oriolestar sat, mulling over the events of the past few days. There had been a public spat between Cloverfoot and Ruetail, and Cloverfoot had approached the young leader earlier in the day to bring up her suspicions about the other warrior. She had claimed that Ruetail was sneaking out to meet up with a tom from MistClan. Oriolestar looked up at the sky. Cross-Clan relationships weren’t unheard of, though they were generally frowned upon. She herself had no issues with who anyone chose to love, but if it came down to a question of loyalty, it was another matter entirely. StoneClan had welcomed cats of other Clans to join their loved ones before, but how would it fare now? There was dissent back them, even her own father had had doubts; now they were more than just StoneClan, they were GorgeClan.
As she mused, a flicker of movement caught her eye. Golden amber eyes pinpointed a young she-cat slipping through the shadows, not knowing she’d been spotted. Oriolestar hesitated a few moments after the she-cat had exited the camp before leaving her post to follow. The scent belonged to Ruetail, and her eyes narrowed as she followed the young warrior’s trail. It seemed she would discover for herself whether Cloverfoot’s words were true.
Ruetail’s path led straight to their border with MistClan. Oriolestar followed, staying out of sight, but the she-cat seemed too determined on her goal to pay much notice to her surroundings. When Ruetail stopped at the edge of the territory and sat down to wait, Oriolestar made a decision. Intentionally, she rattled against some underbrush nearby, drawing Ruetail’s attention. ”Who’s there?” Ruetail called out.
Oriolestar stepped from the brush. ”Ruetail. What are you doing out on our borders this late?”
”Oh, O-Oriolestar...what are you..doing here?”
”Someone came to me earlier today with a...concerning suspicion. I was sitting out, thinking it over, and noticed you leaving the camp. And well, since the suspicion was concerning you, I figured it would be best to put these rumors to rest myself. So again, Ruetail, why are you here?”
Ruetail’s head dropped in shame. ”I’m sorry, Oriolestar. I just...when we were with the Tribe, I met someone...we ended up following our families to our new Clans, but went in different directions from each other. I don’t..I don’t know if I can be without him.”
Oriolestar listened quietly, her tail gently swaying in thought behind her. Her voice was gentle, soothing, when she next spoke. ”Ruetail. I know how important family is, and I know how difficult it is to lose someone close to you. I know you probably don’t want to hear it, but you are going to have to make some difficult decisions very soon.” Ruetail’s eyes shot upwards, full of fear, but Oriolestar held up her tail in a ‘wait’ gesture. ”Personally, I don’t care if you choose to love a cat from another Clan. However, I cannot have my warriors’ attentions and loyalties divided. The way that I see it, you have three options. Option one, you cut off all ties to this tom, end these late night trysts, and become nothing more than distant friends. Option two, you can leave GorgeClan and attempt to join your tom over in MistClan, but that will be contingent on Cloverstar’s acceptance of outside cats and will require you to cut ties with the family you have here. The third option is, if you and this tom decide that you want to be together, he can leave MistClan, and we will allow him into GorgeClan on a trial period. If he can prove his loyalty lies here in GorgeClan, then eventually he can be awarded the privileges given to our own warriors and be welcomed as one of us. Know that you may have to face the same trial if you decide to try to join MistClan’s ranks, and know that there is the chance that neither of you will make it through the other Clan’s trials. That does leave a fourth option, however it is, in my opinion, the least attractive. You can both decide to leave your Clans and your families and live as loners, but that is a hard life to live.”
Oriolestar looked at the young warrior with a soft expression. ”I know this is a tough decision to make. I will give you three days to discuss with him, discuss with your families, and decide.” She stepped forward and touched her tailtip to the younger cat’s shoulder. ”This is not a decision to be made lightly, Ruetail. Think it over carefully, and make the decision that feels the best for you.” With that, Oriolestar turned and left, returning back to GorgeClan’s camp, casting her eyes to the stars along the way. ’I hope I made the right call.’
scenario II [attr="class","cp cp-squirrel"] Oriolestar was chatting with some of her warriors, just passing the time until the patrols returned with their reports, when a large group approached. It was Rustythorn, Brackenwing, and Thrushfoot, followed by their three apprentices, and by an irate-looking Tinystrike and Tawnywish. She heard a soft “uh-oh” from one of the warriors she currently had nearby, and she turned to dismiss them with a smile. She rose and padded across to meet the warriors and apprentices, feeling a tingle down her spine as she braced herself for what was coming. The black and orange leader listened quietly as Tawnywish spat out complaints regarding the former StoneClan warriors training their kits, and it took a great amount of effort to prevent her hackles from rising. When Tawnywish was finished, Oriolestar thanked them and then turned to the three mentors, looking for their perspective on things.
After acquiring both sides of the story, Oriolestar sat for a moment, contemplating. It was something she had been working on, thinking about her words before speaking them, and she’d found it quite beneficial, if a little tough and time-consuming. After a moment, Oriolestar looked up to address the five adults.
”My choice will stand. Rustythorn, Thrushfoot, and Brackenwing are all capable warriors and have their own qualities I hope they impart upon their apprentices. That being said, I think it is important that we all adjust our perspectives a bit. Tawnywish, Tinystrike. Please try to understand that every warrior mentors differently, and that even though we may come from different backgrounds, we are now one Clan and all have the same goal: to strengthen GorgeClan and see it thrive. Please try to have some patience. Crowpaw, Darkpaw, and Softpaw have only been apprentices for a few days, perhaps their mentors are trying to focus on the things they are familiar with to ease into the training. Thrushfoot, please keep in mind that we are no longer cats of open mountain air and stone. While it’s important to impart as much knowledge as you can, do not let it be at the expense of teaching Softpaw how to make the most out of their territory, and that means learning to hunt in the forests. Rustythorn, I’m excited that you put forth the effort to teach Crowpaw forest hunting. We did not have many trees in our old territory, so I know there will be a learning curve for us here as well. I truly appreciate your effort, and again ask for patience from Tawnywish and Tinystrike. We are trying, but we still have so much to learn from one another. For now, I want Rustythorn, Thrushfoot, and Brackenwing to train jointly. Call in a few extra warriors who are skilled tree hunters to assist in the forest hunting lessons, but also call in a few warriors who are skilled at open ground hunting to assist there. We will also work on getting all of our other warriors trained in new hunting techniques. Our territory has both rocky slopes and forested land, and I want all of our members, warriors and apprentices alike, to be able to safely utilize all of it.”
[attr="class","cp cp-drop"] scenario III ”We should send a patrol to gather lakewater from MistClan. We can go under cover of darkness and not be spotted.”
Oriolestar looked at her deputy like he had grown an extra tail. ”We will not fall so low as to steal what we need. Cloverstar seems reasonable enough, and I will not risk war when we are already weakened.”
”Then what do you propose we do?”
”I will go discuss this with Cloverstar directly,” she paused, thoughtful. ”I shall have to seek an audience with Owlstar, as well, to discuss the evidence of her patrols crossing our borders. The Clan needs water first, so I shall take two warriors with me and travel to MistClan. Guard the Clan while I am gone; I want to have this settled immediately.” Oriolestar glanced around the camp, seeking out two suitable warriors.
”Icefang, Tanglefur, with me. We’re taking a trip to visit MistClan.” Icefang was a senior warrior and Orioleflight trusted her level head and wisdom, and Tanglefur was an unassuming tom with a gentle disposition. She trusted both of their skills should things go south, but knew that the three of them wouldn’t give off a hostile vibe. With her warriors in tow, she headed off toward MistClan’s border, filling the two other cats in on her plan. ”We are going to request a meeting with Cloverstar regarding the drought. We will be polite and civil, and are going to request access to the lake so our Clan can drink. There will likely be some tradeoff, though. Icefang, I may ask for your input on that. Tanglefur, I know you have a level head; I’d like to keep it that way. Let’s try to remain peaceful, even if they refuse.”
”And if they refuse?” Tanglefur questioned.
”We’ll figure something else out.” Oriolestar decided. [newclass=.grclangrad]font-family:icomoon;font-size:50px;color:#6a914a;div-align:center;[/newclass]
