Owlstar
LightningClan || 81 Moons || Leader
It was a beautiful day.
Ominous, but beautiful as the heavy fog that came with Leaf-Fall practically coated the wide, rolling moors of Lightningclan in a dense blur.
It was a great time to hone specific skills that didn't involve the use of eyesight, which of course was a gift to the Tunnelers themselves as they were used to travelling below ground in the darkness of the earth. It was also a great time to work apprentices by taking away the one sense they relied the most on. As kits and youngsters alike, they heavily use their sight to learn and repeat motions that happen but it was time to strip them of that ability.
It was a rather intellectual assessment, but one that could be fun for them as well. The lanky gray leader had run the idea past her new deputy, Nightrunner, as well as Batear who held the seat of her Council Huntress. The exercise was a modified version of cat-and-mouse and required three young Lightningclanners to hone their ability to hunt effectively as a team, their reflexes and the use of their nose and ears. As for the four apprentice, they would be the so called 'prey' of the game, attempting to figure out how to escape their three denmates' hunting party.
Flickering her long tail, Owlstar shifted from where she sat after dealing out jobs and assignments for her warriors. Though it was normally a job dedicated to the position of deputy, the elder she-cat had already given her large smoky black second a job of his own. He had been tasked to gather four of their several apprentices, including the leader's own ward, Maplepaw. She then of course, informed Nightrunner that she would be along as soon as duties were passed out.
"Rosefire," The raspy tone of the leader called out within the width of the open camp, capturing the attention of her ginger and white tabby sister. "Do watch the camp while we're out." It was simply but a polite request as Rosefire gave a soft nod towards the more general like of the siblings before Owlstar pivoted on her nimble paws, lanky limbs leading the rather thin looking she-cat through the damp morning grasses.
A large ear twitched upon the long, narrow head of the dilute Oriental while she made her way near silently through the fog-coated hills. She knew her way through Lightningclan's vast territory as if it were her own nest, though of course she had spent eighty long moons padding below Starclan and her warriors. For a moment, the matte gray feline felt like she could feel those who had given her lives padding beside her... Though the sudden intrusion of the wind brought her back to the present and the scent of her deputy and several bouncing youngsters within the Flooded Grasses.
"Good Morning." Owlstar started in the second her paws met the ground where they were awaiting her presence. Her tone was curt and raspy, as she turned to dip her head respectfully to her former apprentice, "Nightrunner." And then in turn to her growing apprentice, "Maplepaw." That long tail of hers flickered behind her as the general-like molly turned to officially face the other future warriors of her clan and watched them with an intense, unreadable amber gaze.
"Today you will be doing a hunting exercise, in which three of you will attempt to 'hunt' the fourth."

Wisdom. Courage. Strategy.
