She cuddled up against her mother's warm fur and sighed; she could feel the bit of wind coming from outside bringing with it the chill of Leaf-Fall. Her little nose twitched at the scent of the wind and curious to think what outside looked like; her ears perked and listened to the faint chatter of others around camp and lifted her head so that her face was turned towards her mother. "Mama...can I go outside today?" she asked with a sweet and soft voice. Her mother looked down at her; rasping her tongue over her daughter's ears and purred. Wisteriakit didn't see the look of concern on her mother's face or see how she had turned to look at the entrance of the Nursery with a hesitant look in her eyes as she seemed to hesitate to answer the snow white fur ball that curled up against her belly. 


"We can go outside in a little bit darling. Right now though it's time for breakfast and a good grooming. It's cold outside so I don't want you to get sick." Wisteriakit's ears fell but she gave a forced smile and curled up against her mother once more; allowing her mother to groom her snow white fur without complains as she lay there.

The sound of paw steps coming towards the Nursery made the little kit turn her head with an excitable look on her face even if her eyes could not see the figure poking their head through.

"Good morning Daisylight. Sorry for intruding! Whitehawk and I just came back from a hunting trip! I was wondering if you'd like this squirrel?" a young tom's voice spoke up making the white kit curious to see who this tom was.

"Oh Tigerpaw! Thanks so much. That's sweet of you. I'd love it, say hello Wisteriakit. This is Tigerpaw, he's one of our apprentices." Daisylight murmured to her kit who stood up to take a few steps towards the scent of the male. Nose in the air and stumbling over her paws towards him. She would have fallen if it wasn't for Tigerpaw who reached out to allow her to fall against his leg so that she didn't hurt herself. She giggled and turned her head up towards the tom who grinned.

"I heard she's blind, but even so, is it okay if she comes out into the camp clearing? I can watch out for her of course...the other kits don't seem keen on playing with her. It would't be right for her to be left out." Tigerpaw offered looking towards the pretty tabby lying in her nest. Daisylight hesitated before she nodded with a smile. At least her daughter would have someone to play with.

Just then, Tigerpaw's name was called and the ginger tabby grumpily looked over his shoulder towards his mentor who'd called and sighed looking down at the sightless kitten before him. 

"Wisteriakit....I have to go a minute to talk with my mentor....why don't you sit right here and I'll be right back! Promise" Tigerpaw darted towards his mentor before the little thing could reply leaving her sitting there looking rather confused and disappointed. She sighed and laid down at the entrance of the den looking blindly outside and allowing the feeling of the cool Leaf-Fall breeze against her face. Saddened that she was once again alone and no one to play with.

<sup>There was nothing more dangerous than boredom. It was an insidious, creeping thing, settling down around Creek-kit's shoulders like a blanket of heavy snow. It could bite harder than the chilly Leaf-fall breeze sweeping through camp. It could squeeze tighter than a snake, making her want to squirm out of her nest to be free of it. But there wasn't anything to be done. The other kits in the nursery, including her own siblings, were all uninspiring. They lacked imagination and intelligence, and had whining voices that irritated Creek-kit to the core. It wasn't fun to play with them when it didn't even present the remotest challenge. It was like trying to play with mice. Whenever she used her brain instead of flailing her paws around hoping to get a lucky shot, they squeaked and cried about "cheating" and "breaking the rules". So here she was, sitting in the nursery, flicking her ear whenever she heard the soft murmur of a queen speaking to her kits.

The smell of blood and squirrel meat hit her nose, making the beautiful bengal kit raise her head in sudden interest. Her stomach rumbled in encouragement, so she sat up and quickly groomed her fur to look more respectable. The ginger and white tabby tom who pushed his way in the nursery made her blue eyes darken slightly. Tigerpaw. She hadn't spoken to him a lot, but from what she heard, he was a bit of a bird-brain. She set her sights on the squirrel that dangled from his jaws as he set it down on the nursery floor. A delighted purr rose up in her throat, eager to dig in to the fresh meal. She paused when he said something about Wisteriakit being blind. She gave the other kitten a sideways glance, whiskers twitching. Wisteriakit seemed to spend most of her time in the nursery, but Creek-kit had always assumed she had been sickly or something. Could the other she-kit seriously not see? "Thank you, Tigerpaw!" She chimed out, her voice sweet as honey and high-pitched with youth.

As she bent her head to sniff at the squirrel, she listened in on the conversation passing between Tigerpaw and the kit, her boredom slowly draining away as an idea began to brew in her mind. Apparently Tigerpaw was going to take the blind kit out on a little adventure. Well, that sounded stupid. Wisteriakit could get eaten by a fox and she probably wouldn't even notice she was inside its stomach. She smiled in silent amusement at the thought. Ah, but then Tigerpaw was getting called away on an errand, leaving Wisteriakit bewildered and alone at the entrance. She looked so lost and helpless, framed in a shaft of light leaking in from the outside world she couldn't even see. Creek-kit abandoned the squirrel. It was of less interest now. She sidled quietly up to Wisteriakit's side, intentionally trying to mislead her into thinking no-one was approaching. Sitting down quietly, she looked Wisteriakit up and down like she was sizing her up. Her blue eyes were thoughtful. "I could play with you, if you want!" Creek-kit purred, her tail looping around her paws. "The other kits don't like playing with me, either. But they're birdbrains. If we play together, then they're the ones getting left out."</sup>

It was sad to think that she was used to the loneliness that she felt within her small chest. As she heard Tigerpaw's paw steps run off her head followed where she thought he'd gone. She could hear the other kits outside play and the talk of others throughout the camp. Her ears drooped slightly at the prospect of having to lay beside her mother and listen to her talk with the other queens of the nursery gossiping among themselves. Wisteriakit didn't want to think so badly of her days within the nursery but she was starting to hate just sitting around not doing anything. Even when her siblings went off to play with the other kittens within the nursery walls Wisteriakit was used to being left out of the fun because of the burden others saw her lack of eyesight. She didn't often like to show that she was sad in front of her mother but the white fluffball was starting to feel it more deeply as the days passed. She didn't understand why others didn't want to play with her. All because she couldn't see? How mean was that?!

The sounds of voices and movement around the den were faded into the background as Wisteriakit stared blankly straight ahead in her own thoughts. That's all she did anyway when she was bored. Created a make-believe world within her head that she could be loved within those imaginary walls. In her world, she had all the friends she wanted even if she didn't have eyesight. She was loved and she had the possibilities to be a normal kit to play and grow up young and youthful with others around her instead of feeling that she wasn't wanted around because of something she couldn't control. Her colorless make-believe world shattered when she heard a voice speak up and she stumbled back in surprise with a small gasp. Her small heart pounding heavily in her chest as her head twitched back and forth as if she was searching for whoever spoke up. It took a good second or two to catch her breath and realize that another kit had come up to her.

Her face screwed up in confusion as her small brain tried to process what was being said. "What?" she spoke up before her mind could comprehend the words.

"Wait a minute...A-are you actually talking to me?" she asked a bit confused as she straightened herself up. Blue murky eyes wide with surprise and wonder that another would like to actually give her the time of day besides her siblings.

A small smile began to form on her face when she rethought over the words that she'd previously missed and she began to get excited. Someone actually wanted to play with her! She stood up to her paws and nodded her head eagerly.

"I'd love to play with you! No one likes to play with me because I'm blind. But you are willing to play with me?! That makes me so happy thank you! she chirped excitedly.

"What would you like to play? I know there isn't much that I can play that don't involve eyesight but I'd love to still play! Maybe you can teach me some games!" she spoke up.

[attr="class","creek-content"]Creek-kit snorted as Wisteriakit raised her head in amazement, seemingly bewildered by the fact that anyone wanted to play with her. Which... did make sense. "Of course, birdbrain." She teased, trying to make her tone sound lighter than the very real scorn in her blue eyes. What a silly little thing. She was pretty, though, with her pure white coat and her small, sightless eyes. Like a little flower so easily throd on underpaw.

"Why wouldn't I be? It's not like you've got greencough." She gently whisped her tail against the smaller kit's side, like a mother duck guiding forth her impressionable brood. "We'll figure something out. Lots of games without sight are fun." The growing smile on Wisteriakit's face was a clear indicator that she was hooked. Wisteriakit's expression of excitement with little chirps and hops very much reminded Creek-kit of a little bird chick. She'd often seen a sad little dead chick slumped on the prey pile, waiting to be eaten. Some unfortunate little scrap that had fallen out of the nest too soon, or had been abandoned by their parents. "I know a really great game that you'll probably be good at."

Using her tail as an anchor between the two very different youths, Creek-kit brought Wisteriakit cautiously into the clearing with the promise to her concerned mother that she wouldn't let the white kit out of her sight. Raising her chin eye to dissuade the bewildered and even mocking looks from her littermates at the company she kept, they arrived in the middle of the camp where the sunlight slanted down through the overhanging rocks. "In this game, it's your job to try and catch me." She told her newfound playmate... or plaything. She spoke clearly, a mischievous smirk crawling across her face. "The hunter always has to keep their eyes closed, but this game works for you because you can't even cheat! When you call out "mouse", I have to reply with "squeak" no matter what, and you use the sound of my voice to find me." She butted her head against Wisteriakit's side, a friendly gesture. "Sound fun?"
