DETAILED INFORMATION [attr="class","box1"]APPEARANCE Summary » Blue-grey tom with sea-green eyes. This tom kit has short, silky fur that easily repels water. He can be considerably vulnerable to the cold, but during the hotter season, he gets a lot more release from the suffocating heat than his clanmates. The only part of him that's long is his whiskers, white and downy, swaying from his muzzle in an almost wispy fashion. His eyes are a pair of round moons, steadily absorbing everything around him. Above those eyes, his slender ears perk up from his fuzzy head, tapering to a fine point. The fluff inside them is a fainter blue than his coat, giving him an aged look even in his youth. Riverkit was, of course, named for the blue of his pelt. It is a striking, unusual shade of pale blue-grey, shifting colour depending on the lighting. His pelt is split into thick, wide stripes whose patterning gives him a regal, marbled look. His irises are a deeper blue-green shade that would put you in mind of the sea. His eyes are always earnest and bright with curiosity. His chin and throat pale to a light silvery colour, as his ears do. Despite his energy and ambition, Riverkit does not appear as though he is built for fighting. With a thin, wiry frame it almost seems a gust of wind could blow him over. His paws keep him firmly rooted to the ground, however, his paw-pads speckled with black and pink spots. PERSONALITY Any cat who knows this kit could tell you about his incredibly affectionate nature. He is adoring, thoughtful and sweet, always thinking of his kin and friends and going out of his way to cheer them up or make them smile. He is always full of compliments for others, to the point where it comes across as flattery. He is extremely eager to make new friends, and will even approach cats from other Clans with a cheerful attitude. Unfortunately, his love comes at a price. He can be clingy and prone to worrying about losing those he cares about. His possessiveness leads him to favour keeping his loved ones close, even if he isn't respecting their wishes. He tells himself he does these things for their own good, but ultimately his intentions are subconsciously selfish. He is so terrified of being alone that losing a friend or kin would shatter him irreparably, even if that "loss" is a misinterpretation on his part. He easily grows jealous when excluded, even temporarily, and this jealousy is rarely handled with maturity. Riverkit is extremely passionate about what he believes in and will stand by it no matter what. He knows precisely what he wants in life and he strives towards his goals with a fire in his soul. He dreams very big and will do anything in his power to achieve them. He's also not afraid to tell those dreams to anyone who will listen and won't be put off even if they laugh at him. He is not afraid to speak out if he disagrees, even at a young age when his opinions may be considered cheek. His ambitions tend to come across a little haughty to others, especially considering his dreams of one day leading RainClan, but for now, they are being dismissed as the fantasies of a silly kit. His ambitions secretly stem from a fear of being forgotten. He worries a lot about achieving something important, being a hero, being remembered as the legendary warriors were in his nursery tales. He wants to be a hero, and he can't think of any better way to become a hero than to eventually a great and noble leader. Riverkit is not very emotionally developed. Though that is normal considering he is still a child, his childishness will stay with him even as he grows into an adult. He can be surly, petty and resentful for long periods over minor discrepancies. He most certainly holds a grudge. Forgiveness only comes if the problem he was upset over is solved, and even then he will remain somewhat bitter for a time. His immaturity, though, will give him a unique knack for interacting with kits when he is older. He will be the cat the kits would consider "fun", always up for a game. He will be very good with kits, but likely not mature enough to make a good father in the future, at least until he grows up a bit. Say what you will about Riverkit's sensitivity and clingy nature, he is no coward. Even when afraid, he does not let fear stall him and will jump right in with both paws outstretched. He is not one to run away from a fight or danger, even as a kit. He has a self-sacrificing streak, in that he daydreams about the heroics of giving his life to save someone else or serve some greater cause, joining an honoured spot in StarClan's ranks... just like Swiftpaw in the stories. His ceaseless courage likely alarms his mother, as sometimes he seems to lack sense. His tendency to face trouble head-on will pull him into some extremely dangerous yet avoidable situations. He finds it nearly impossible to surrender and this may very well be to his downfall, as knowing when you are beaten is a key part of being a good warrior. Riverkit tends to act on impulse, not according to any plan or logic... just pure instinct. He will blurt things out at the wrong time, throw himself into danger when it would have been smarter to pull back, or other wild and unpredictable things. Asides from his dreams of greatness, he doesn't think much beyond the current moment, living each heartbeat as it occurs. This reflects in his hunting skills and fighting technique, too. When play-fighting, there is no rhyme or rhythm to his movements, he simply strikes at random until he either reigns victorious or fails. He will not have the fortitude for fishing, choosing to plop into the water after prey instead of patiently waiting by the banks like a normal cat. His ability to act in the moment, however, makes his reactions extremely swift. In a split second, he can decide on what to do and leap into action without a moment's hesitation. This could help in situations that happen rapidly, such as a bird of prey going for a kit or an enemy ambushing from the side. For now, he uses his quick reactions in nursery games and often wins at any game that involves speed, losing at the ones that involve planning and patience. You will never, ever get Riverkit to shut up. He will talk, and talk, and talk, and continue talking even if he's completely aware the other cat has lost interest. He has a bad habit of dominating a conversation, butting in with his own story about what had happened at one point in the evening or another. Riverkit seems to think that every cat needs to know everything that ever happens to him, no matter how minor. He's not very good at knowing when to stop, something he has been given out to over before. But this does not help him to change his behaviour, he simply feels embarrassed about it and continues to fall into the same patterns. When he is especially excited about something, this becomes a million times worse and it is unlikely you'll ever hear silence again until he finally tires himself out and falls asleep. Riverkit is very sensitive, and it is extremely easy to upset him to the point of tears. Though he is courageous in the face of real danger, he cannot handle criticism whatsoever and that possibly frightens him more than any fox or pike ever could. He just wants everyone to like him and get along with him and he can't stand it if that doesn't work out. He often runs to those closest to him for comfort after being upset, something that may become a bit of annoyance as time goes on. He is highly affected by the opinions others hold of him and will strive to impress those that aren't. His sensitivity allows him to relate to other cats very well, however. He is quick to comfort those in need of it and will always try to make himself available as a shoulder to cry on. He does not judge those who are like himself, sensitive and vulnerable. He takes his responsibilities to his clanmates very seriously and will always be the first one to volunteer to go on dangerous missions or tricky hunts. As a kit, his diligence will come in the form of offering to help around camp, whether it be assisting the apprentices in caring for the elders or carrying bedding material to different dens. He finds joy in being helpful, and will always attempt to do every chore or task to the best of his ability... though his lack of patience often ensures failure. HISTORY Some cats might have expected Lilygleam and Burrthorn to have raised their final litter of kits. The two were getting on in age and had raised a fine litter to adulthood already. Lilygleam's announcement to surrender her position as deputy to raise a new litter certainly blind-sided many. Soon there came Mistkit, Pebblekit and Riverkit, three little surprise bundles to be added to the nursery. Surprised though they were, RainClan rejoiced the arrival of the new kits. It was clear from the very start that Riverkit had big expectations for his future. His ambition may have derived from his undying admiration of his much older siblings, Brookfall, Gorgeleap and Silverstar. Nothing those three cats could do would be wrong in Riverkit's eyes, and he wanted to be exactly like them as he got older. Lilygleam's former position as deputy certainly added to these aspirations to greatness, and he spent many a time in the nursery pestering his mother to tell him about her time as deputy, and not quite understanding why she had given it up just to have him and his siblings. Unfortunately, the main obstacle standing in Riverkit's path to greatness is himself. His emotional instability and desperation to be needed and loved by every cat he encounters may very well prove to be his greatest flaw.
