Smokefur had been vertical for far too long, a fact which all four of the aging medicine cat's paws reminded her of as a dull ache occasionally throbbed through them. Each step sent a pulse through the corresponding joint as Smokefur made her way to her nest, and as far as she was concerned she had done more than enough to earn a nap. The day had been filled with general chores, some dull but necessary, others perhaps even slightly fun. There had even been a few... interesting encounters to fill out the gaps in Smokefur's schedule. The time for all that was over now though, Smokefur longed to shut her eyes and as she stood over her nest ready to lower herself into its sweet embrace she yet again heard a rustling at the entrance to her den. Resisting the urge to swear the she-cat looked to see Bramblepaw making her way into the den. "What can I do for you?" Smokefur mewed as politely as she could manage given the situation.

Bramblepaw had waited until the very last moment to bother going to the medicine den, because to be quite honest she felt incredibly foolish and was sure that Smokefur would probably report her to Darkstar for being an idiot. If her warrior ceremony got delayed over something as stupid as this, she would be incredibly annoyed. Pushing her way into the shaded little den in the corner of the underground camp, her golden eyes swam with nausea as she faced the grey tabby medicine cat. "I-" She broke off into a coughing retch, covering her mouth with one brown paw as she struggled to fight back the acid that broiled in her stomach. "I might have eaten a bad toad." She mumbled, her belly groaning. "Me and Hollowpaw found this- dead toad, and it didn't look like it was crowfood yet." She looked as green as it were possible for a brown-point feline to look, her tail twitching. "And he dared me to eat it- pushed it towards me."
It was the first time in awhile that the she-cat looked embarrassed for one of the antics she had pulled, of all the pranks and dares and jokes the apprentices had given each-other, this was the dumbest one she had ever accepted. Upon biting into the toad, it was clear it was a lot more decomposed than it had first appeared, and the taste had been entirely putrid. Hollowpaw had the good will to look genuinely guilty and concerned, but she had powered through a bellyache for the entire day, even lying to Greywolf about what was up with her. Now that she still felt quite queasy, she had finally resigned to admit what she had done. "Please don't punish Hollowpaw- he didn't think I'd be frogbrained enough to eat it, it was only a joke." Bramblepaw looked quite wretched, and her tail drooped in remorse.
