Sandstar
it’s hard to imagine
but one day
you’ll end up like me
Admittedly, his mind had been far from relaxed and calm for the past few days. Memories of his encounter with Violetclaw mingled with thoughts of her behavior, which had yet to truly return to what it used to be, and all of it was interspersed with worries about the recent activity on their border along the mountainside and the usual anxieties about his clan’s well-being. Of them all, the lattermost issue posed the most severe problem in the long run, for the focus of the activity seemed to rest along the land that they had gained from their attack on StoneClan. It could be interpreted as a sign of the clan’s restlessness, perhaps growing strength as they regrouped in their sanctuary, which was presumably in the mountains. Apart from ensuring that the fifth clan had not taken shelter in the vicinity, he had not sent cats out to try and locate StoneClan, and found no reason to do so. As long as they were not in their old land, they could live in the mountains all they wanted. However, this activity was worrying.
That was why he was there, padding along the now-familiar path toward the rocky part of their territory. Unfortunately, rivers and streams were scarce in this terrain, though he had quickly begun to appreciate the beauty of the Sky Springs, smooth patches of water that reflected the sky above with a startling clarity. To think that StoneClan had hoarded such beauty for themselves… Perhaps he would indulge himself, just this once, and stop by on his way to the border, where he would investigate the area himself, though he doubted that he could come up with a different conclusion. A meeting with Redstar might be in order.
With his mind made up, it did not take long for RainClan’s leader to end up at the clear pools of water, and lowering his head, he lapped up some of the fluid, amber eyes watching as ripples spread across the surface, disrupting the smoothness. The image provided a good analogy to leading a clan, he realized idly. Any large decisions he made had far reaching effects within his clan and affected most of the cats in RainClan, disturbing what might have been a smooth surface with ripples. His gaze was drawn to the brilliant sky reflected in the pool, and he raised his head, tipping his chin upward slightly to compare the sight to the real sky. They were one and the same, as always. Lowering his focus to his surroundings, he noticed a figure nearby, and recognized her almost instantly. Timberwing?
