NIGHTCLAN
lightstep | she-cat | 81 moons | Newtstripe's mother | image | bio
There is a silver lining to everything, and you have made it your life’s practice to try to find it in everything and everyone. Your kind heart and pleasant smile for everyone has set you apart from the rest, but while some roll their eyes at what they perceive as naïve optimism (it’s not; you’ve just learned that you have to make your own happiness in this world, and keeping your spirits up is how you’ve decided to do it), no one can deny your value as a warrior and a friend. However, it is family that has always come first for you. Though you have always loved kits, neither you nor Sunstorm felt any pressure to raise a family until you realized that you were getting older. With this sudden sense of urgency, you persuaded him to help you raise a family, and it was not a lie when you said that you thought he would be a wonderful father as you have always known he has a far kinder heart than that of his own sire. A near-death brush with greencough during the epidemic that struck the clan has reminded you again of your own mortality, and you make sure to remind your loved ones every day how important they are.

pipitwing | she-cat | 41 moons | Newtstripe's sister | image | bio
From the beginning, it was clear that winning the favor of her peers has always mattered more to this she-cat than it has to her siblings, and though she doesn't quite understand it herself, she has this visceral need to be loved and admired. If she has a clan full of friends, then perhaps they will never see that she is the black sheep of the family. Newtstripe has always held a special place in their father's heart, anyone with eyes can see that, and Stoatclaw's determination to make a name for herself can lead nowhere but to greatness. But Pipitwing? Pipitwing is the odd cat out, a completely average warrior who has always wanted to be more than that. No one in her family understands that she aims for popularity because her charm and beauty are the only things she has going for her. Pipitwing is drawn to impressive and powerful warriors like a moth to a flame because she hopes that their approval can replace that horrible feeling of incompetence that has buried itself deep in her chest.

Fake it ‘til you make it. You are the cat who has it all – intelligence, stunning looks, and a kind heart – yet you know that if anyone peeks behind the curtain, they’ll realize that perhaps you’re not as put together as you seem. You are the only kit to older parents who struggled to have offspring, and as such, you are very close to them (perhaps a little unhealthily so). Together, the three of you have put high expectations on your shoulders, ones that you’re constantly scared of not meeting. So you worry and you check yourself: are you good enough? It’s the reason you like well-defined boundaries and clear instructions so much – you know that you can meet and surpass expectations as long as you know the parameters of the situation. Change and new things are intimidating, but that’s what your best friend, Mothlight is for. Steady and unflappable, she is your rock who always knows what to say to reassure you.

You are the oldest of a pair of kits, but the untimely death of your younger brother cruelly cut your childhood short. With all four feet firmly planted on the ground and a sensible head on your shoulders, you often have valuable insights and always eager to help others, you love to share them. In particular, you are always keen to offer aid to those small and vulnerable things that have such a special place in your heart. You can relate to them, see? You and your brother have never been the healthiest cats – often sending you both in and out of the medicine cat den with alarming frequency – so you know how it feels to constantly not be at peak condition.

CLANLESS
JAY | Tom | 29 moons | Finch's best friend | image
You were always the one whose body never quite matched the spirit. Born the runt of your litter of five, you were, much to your distaste, quite often left behind by your bigger, healthier siblings. But it didn’t matter once you met Finch. From the start, the two of you were best friends, and soon everyone learned that you were inseparable. He was quieter than you and not quite as carefree, but that was okay, because you could always turn to him for advice and you knew (just like you knew that the sun would set in the evening and rise in the morning) that he would always be there for you. You complimented each other perfectly; what he wasn’t, you were, and what you weren’t, he was. You were better at making friends and talking with others, and you had dreams of proving yourself, of exceeding everyone’s expectations of the runt who was adopted into Finch’s family. You and Finch and Thunder were separated in the most devastating of ways. You watched as Thunder fell apart, unable to find Finch, and you spent the nights praying that whatever spirits were flying on birds’ wings would bring him back and make everything better. You were silently hurting as Thunder turned on you, wanting to love you like his own son, like he had all these past moons, but unable to stop wishing that it were you instead. You understood. It hurt, but you understood. (Sometimes you wished it was you instead, too.) Eventually, the two of you parted ways on awkward terms, not quite hostile but not nearly as friendly as you used to be. Ever since then, you have wandered and had your own adventures. You dream of one day perhaps running into Finch again, but you don’t know where he is or whether he is alive or dead. You’ve begun to move on and make your own life and prove yourself as you have always wanted to, but the ghosts of the past floating around inside your skull are not making it easy.

THUNDER | Tom | __ moons | Finch's father | image
You were bedrock, solid in your convictions and unmoving in your beliefs. You were never plagued by the doubts of others, because you knew one very important fact: you could survive whatever life threw at you. It was this confidence that made you an appealing mate for ___ and a good father to Finch (and Jay). You would do what had to be done, and you would do it in the calm and steady manner with which you always tackle challenges. But when ___ died in the fight against StormClan, your foundations shifted for the first time in a long time. You pushed the unfamiliar insecurity aside and focused on keeping yourself, Finch, and Jay alive. It worked until Finch was killed. You and Jay survived, but Finch was nowhere to be seen, and suddenly your world changed. You had failed to protect your son. The guilt ate at you and you took it out (unfairly, you knew) on Jay, who was suffering just as much, but that made you feel even more guilty and it wasn’t as satisfying as it seemed. You started wishing you could rewrite the story, replace Jay with your son – your real son, by blood – but that didn’t make anything better. Nothing made anything better. When you left Jay, you felt like both of you knew, silently, it was better this way. Your relationship had grown toxic, and neither of you could heal while the other was there. You don’t know where the younger tom is now (you barely know where you are now); you just know you’re alone and you don’t know how to fix it.

ASTER | Tom | __ moons | Finch's acquaintance | picYou could never resist helping others. Ever since you learned your first herbal remedy (dandelion, to help with the pain), you have wanted to do just that – ease everyone’s pain. You hate suffering, and if you could change one thing in the world, it would be to take away pain. But you’re smart, and you knew the next best thing would be to learn how to treat pain. So, through much trial and error and talking with others with similar interests, you did. You pride yourself in your fairly extensive knowledge on herbs and poultices, though you know it’s nowhere near complete and not nearly as impressive as that of the healers among the clans – still, it was your determination that got you this far, and you think that ought to count for something. When you met Finch, he was covered in blood and not in a good shape. You helped him recover, and you thought the two of you would be good friends one day. You liked him, and you wanted to help him with whatever seemed to be making him sadder every day. But then, three moons after you met, he explained that he wanted to go his own way. You were hurt, but not entirely surprised; you’re more perceptive than some cats realize. So you’re on your own again now, but you’re curious about these healer cats in the clans. Perhaps you’ll make your way over there sometime…
