Another day, another disappointment.
Orchidpaw felt a little bummed out that she wouldn't be attending the upcoming gathering, and it didn't help that one of her best friends, Dogpaw, would be going, meaning that she was going to be stuck behind, bored out of her mind with little to no entertainment until her Clanmates got back with all the news. After all, it was the first gathering! And she wasn't going! It was a historic moment for the cats in the valley ever since the earthquake had shattered everything they once held dear, and to be stuck sitting around moping about it felt crushing.
Today though, Cricketchirp had sent Orchidpaw to do some basic apprentice duties around camp in an attempt to try and busy the overactive apprentice's mind. They were busy doing one thing or another, whether it be counting fresh-kill and cleaning the crowfood out of the pile, changing the elder's bedding and tending to their complaints, or just doing general check ups with Shadowchaser and Rustfeather to see if there was anything that they could do for them. But it didn't take long before boredom began to scratch at Orchidpaw again, and they were looking for just about anything that could keep them busy.
Thankfully, it didn't take too long for something to spark in her mind. Amber eyes scanned the camp, looking out for a familiar face or searching for a familiar scent before Orchidpaw sprang to her paws when the recognition came over them.
Orchidpaw and her sister, Dahliapaw, could not have been more different unless they were born in different litters altogether. Where Dahliapaw was soft-spoken and trying to blend into the background, Orchidpaw was loud and boisterous and constantly having others turn their attention to them. Where Dahliapaw often struggled a little bit with socializing and keeping up conversations with her Clanmates, there was nothing stopping Orchidpaw from talking to whoever and whenever about anything from the weather to the recent news in camp. Where Dahliapaw always thought before she acted, there were times where it seemed like Orchidpaw had never had a single thought in her entire life, just going and doing the second that an opportunity presented itself. Nonetheless, it didn't mean the sisters didn't still have some sort of bond.
"Daaaahaliapaaaaw!" Orchidpaw cried out, chasing over towards her sister and skidding to a halt with excitement upon finding someone to help busy her overactive mind and paws. Of course, they still practically danced around in circles, looking excited for the first time all day after tending to what felt like the most boring tasks in the entire world. "What do you say to a little game?" the orange and white tabby asked excitedly, jumping down in front of her sister like a dog ready to play chase. StarClan above, it was a wonder as to whether or not Orchidpaw actually was a dog some days. "Truth or dare! You go first! Pick one! Pick one!" she then continued, hardly giving Dahliapaw even a second to accept or deny her littermate's request for a game. But by this point, Orchidpaw was practically spinning in circles like a kit who had only just been given their apprentice name and was about to leave the camp for the first time.
