nightfur (he/him) | galeclan
Nightfur stepped out of the warriors den, stretching his legs one at a time and letting out a large yawn. He looked skyward, realizing that the morning had very much started without him, the day nearing sunhigh with every passing moment. Feeling a little bit of guilt rise in him, the tom stood on his paws and shook out his black fur, which had already begun to soak in the heat after only a few moments in the sun. He had always gotten exhausted quickly during greenleaf, and while he far preferred the warmer seasons versus the cold just for the ease of every day activities and feeling fed, it was still sometimes difficult to push his way through extra sunny days. Nightfur felt as though he drank far more water during greenleaf, thinking that he could drink the entire lake that sat along the border that was shared with MistClan.
It seemed some days that the rival Clan claimed the entire length of the pond for themselves, which Nightfur wasn't entirely sure he understood. Did they really need the land along the shores that were closer to GaleClan camp, land that they would either need to walk a long way past Crayfish Beach to reach, pass the Whispering Gully or swim across the lake to reach? He wasn't even sure he agreed, and felt that perhaps GaleClan deserved a share of this land since it was so far from the reach of MistClan camp anyways. He didn't dare bring this up to Owlstar or Nightrunner though, unsure if it was truly his place to mention.
Nightrunner. Speaking of the deputy, Nightfur realized that he hadn't even been given a patrol to take part in today, and suddenly felt a bit of his guilt fade away. Sure, he should be taking it upon himself to join one of the patrols as a good, loyal warrior of GaleClan, but was it not the deputy's job to prepare the patrols for the day? The tom began to nervously wonder whether the deputy was perhaps past his prime - after all, most cats his age were retiring to the elder's den. Maybe bringing up his feelings about the shoreline of the lake with Owlstar wouldn't be a terrible idea ...
For the time being, Nightfur pushed the thought out of his mind. Instead, he searched his gaze around the camp to try and spot any other cats who maybe didn't have any plans for the day. His gaze passed over mentors and apprentices who likely either had training to get to or may be enjoying a simple day off of training in the warm sun, and of course passed over any elders, queens and kits who wouldn't join the warrior unless GaleClan was desperate for the extra bodies. But, the fact is that they weren't desperate, and he should be able to find a warrior to join him to stretch his legs.
As though StarClan had heard his exact thoughts, Nightfur managed to spot a large, brown tabby tom who perhaps had also only recently woken up. The black-furred warrior got to his paws and trotted over, his tail high in the air with a friendly disposition as he approached, "Bearbelly!" he called out happily. The two GaleClan toms had always been rather friendly with one another, both being quite chatty cats who enjoyed watching over the younger cats of the Clan. In fact, Bearbelly was a bit younger than Nightfur, though not by many moons - simply enough moons for Nightfur to have been an apprentice by the time the tom was born, and have received his warrior name by the time he became an apprentice. Nightfur thought back to his earlier life, thinking about times he might have even done his best to try and give Bearbelly some friendly advice to get through apprenticehood or early warriorhood, even if he had never been the tom's mentor directly. Nightfur certainly never tried to take the spotlight away from Bearbelly's actual mentor, Jaywing, but there was never any shame or frowns from other cats for any cat who simply wanted to help give advice to make their Clan - whether LightningClan or GaleClan - the best that it could be.
"I was thinking of doing some hunting while it's still Greenleaf, care to join me?" he asked pleasantly, looking around the camp for any other cats who looked like they might have a spare morning to join. It was true that leaf-fall was just around the corner, though Nightfur didn't want to admit that he relished the slightly cooler weather. He'd always enjoyed leaf-fall, when the weather was warm enough for prey to still be active, but cool enough that he didn't feel like collapsing after running through the open fields for practically no time at all.
