shadow of soaring eagle is a cat with goals to accomplish, and she will find the best way that she can meet those standards. she often has a bit of a difficult time making friends, often trying to choose companions who are more likely to help her get farther in life rather than dedicating time to those who are emotionally interested in her as a cat. it's not unlikely that eagle will shoulder off a cave-guard who insists on helping protect her while she hunts, claiming that she can fend for herself, but will often in the end allow the cave-guard to join her simply to avoid the inter-tribe conflict.[break]
eagle is fiercly loyal to the tribe, seeing it as superior to the clans. she holds the belief that the tribe should expand past their mountain range, seeing the forest for themselves as well, though she often holds her tongue on this. though she holds very fast and firm beliefs, eagle is also a rather stoic and intelligent cat, knowing when to speak her mind and when to keep quiet. she does not see the need to create conflict within the tribe itself, though she thrives to see conflict arise among the clans.

shadow of soaring eagle is a rather slim, smaller cat. she has sleek brown tabby fur and piercing green eyes. she has a long tail, and spends a fair amount of time keeping her claws as sharp as possible so that no cat can get the upper hand on her, though she often claims it's simply so that she can swiftly kill her prey. the fur around her muzzle is a little lighter than the rest of her body, and there's a small patch of reddish fur on the bridge of her nose. eagle has a small collection of various scars that she has gained in her lifetime, though none outstanding.

little eagle fell on the smaller side of her litter, the child to osprey that rides the wind and light of rising sun, alongside her littermates strut of ring-necked rooster, jagged rock under tree root and song of shadowed stream. during her early kithood, another kitten by the name of stag in morning light lost his mother, and he was added into the litter, making them a rather large litter of five. eagle was a quiet kit, but she was never one to back down, even from simple play fights. she was often doing her best to prove that she was more than her size, not afraid to take on anyone, even her larger littermates.[break]
eagle wanted more than anything to take on becoming a cave-guard to-be, to finally get her chance to prove herself even further. she eventually became a cave-guard's to-be after enough persistance that she would be able to keep up, despite her smaller size. but training proved to be harder than she expected, though she continued to push herself.[break]
at the young age of only nine moons, eagle's mother, light of rising sun, lost her life in an avalanche. the entire family greived, though there was a small part of eagle that swore she would never let herself fall in anything other than battle, defending her tribe and proving her worth. coming to the realization of a death in the family, she started thinking about her own eventual death, knowing that she wouldn't be able to live forever.[break]
she continued to throw herself into her training, but when it came time for her rite, eagle failed her first time miserably. she was easily tossed aside by the larger cats, which frustrated her. eagle had prided herself on trying to use her size to try and outmanuever some of the larger cats, but her skills weren't useful when it came to her actual task. she needed to be able to let her opponent move around her so she could tire them out, but in a rite where her job was to prevent cats from moving past her, it was no use. soon enough, eagle's second failure came, and she had to plead to the skyteller to let her have one more try at the cave-guard's rite. this is what she wanted.[break]
unfortunately, the third break didn't work out for eagle. she was eventually forced into training into becoming a prey-hunter instead, much to her dismay as she watched her littermates pass their rites and become full fledged tribemates. as much as eagle didn't want to admit it, she fell into the rhythm of being a prey-hunter very easily, using many of the exact manuevers she used against other cats to outsmart prey and sneak up on them, taking them down without much of a fight. on her first rite attempt as a prey-hunter, eagle passed with flying colours, and joined the prey-hunters rather than the cave-guards she had so desperately wanted to join.[break]
eagle drew into herself for a bit, trying to shrug off the looks from cats who felt unsure about the cat who had wanted more than anything to become a cave-guard, only to fail her rite and become a prey-hunter instead. but, she managed to find things she loved within being a prey-hunter, primarily finding the joy that she could actually kill with her own claws, rather than simply injure or scare off. as a prey-hunter, she was expected to draw the blood of her hunt, and as much as she still held envy to her littermates who became cave-guards, she did everything she could to fall into her new role.[break]
after some time, eagle looked towards lead prey-hunter. she realized that what she loved, and what she hungered for, was power. she loved the feeling of when she took down a bird and stood over it, feeling big and powerful against this tiny little creature, and she held such deep devotion and dedication towards her tribe that she believed that she could find a new goal. she could still have power, even if she wasn't the cave-guard she always wanted to be as a kitten.[break]
after a fair amount of time as a prey-hunter, eagle began to feel the pressure to have kits of her own. while she held no desire to be a mother, she still felt the obligation towards her tribe and knew the importance of expanding the tribe. she also knew that any kits she might have could be strong, and would help continue to prove her loyalty towards her tribe. she was not picky about her mate, simply having the kits to help expand the tribe as an obligation rather than out of love, and found a suitable mate in glory of morning sun. eventually they had two kits of her own: doe that never slumbers and lone camellia in the sun. eagle hated being a kit-mother, though she adored her kits, and longed to return to being a prey-hunter. as soon as her kits were old enough to no longer need her by their side, she returned to her duty.[break]
after the earthquake when a handful of clan cats joined the tribe, eagle grew a strong distaste for them. she didn't like the idea of outsiders joining the tribe, feeling that clan cats were inferior - after all, they couldn't keep themselves together during this earthquake and needed to turn to the tribe for help. she often distanced herself from any clan cats, preferring the company of other tribe cats, and wasn't afraid of letting her stance on that be known.

Shadow of Soaring Eagle lay in the nursery, her paws tucked underneath her as two kittens; one brown like herself, and one ginger like her father; curled up against their mother and against one another. They had both had their fill of Eagle's milk, and were now slumbering away, one of them kicking out every now and so from a dream of some sort. Looking across the nursery with green eyes, Eagle leaned down a moment and licked the heads of her two daughters, trying to look like a gentle and caring kit-mother, but the truth was that she knew she was not fooling anyone. Any kit-mother worth her salt knew Eagle's truth.
[break]
And that truth was that she held no deep desire to be here. Doe and Camellia had not been born out of love between Eagle and their father, but out of duty and responsibility. It was seen to be an obligation for all Tribe cats to help expand the ranks, and that's exactly what the brown tabby she-cat was doing. She wanted to keep Tribe blood strong, especially with the recent moons seeming to bring in more and more Clan cats who wanted to leave behind their Clan ways and join the Tribe. It was one thing when loners and vagabonds found a new home within the Tribe, but Eagle found it hard to trust a Clan cat. After all, if they couldn't stay loyal to their own Clan, what reason did she have to believe that they could be loyal to the Tribe?
[break]
Feeling a rustle in her fur from such thoughts, Eagle stood from her nest in the nursery. With Doe and Camellia asleep, she knew she was safe to leave them be a moment. If there was one thing she was grateful for as a temporary kit-mother, it was that all kits were seen to be raised by all kit-mothers, and it did not fall solely on the shoulders of the cat who gave birth to them. That meant that in another moon's time, when her daughters would have likely weaned from their mother's milk, Eagle could leave her nest in the nursery and return to her old nest. The slight she-cat sat outside the nursery, looking across the camp to her old den, knowing in there was a nest with a comforting warmth and smell, though she hoped that no eager to-be had tried to claim it in the time that Eagle had been gone.
[break]
She opened her mouth briefly, longing to return to her old life before giving birth, wishing more than anything to run out of the camp and chase down a bird. She wanted to soar into the sky like the creature she was named for, feeling her claws dig into a creature as its warm blood trickled between her toes. She wanted to creep through the undergrowth, tracking down a creature that didn't realize its life would soon drain from its body as the prey-hunter would dive out, killing it before it even had a chance to say its prayers. When Eagle opened her eyes once more, she looked down to see her claws digging into the ground underneath her, evidently eager to break into a run and feel free once again. One more moon she would have to stay in the cramped nursery, the stuffy smells of milk flooding her nostrils.
[break]
But after her kittens were weaned, she would return. Eagle knew she had so much more ahead of her. She longed for greatness and for power. She had fulfilled her duty to her Tribe and given them two lives, born of strong pure Tribe blood. And if they were lucky, before they knew it, Camellia and Doe would be able to say with pride that their mother was not just any Clan cat, but the Lead Prey-Hunter. Eagle knew it was in her future, and she was ready to do what she needed to get there.
