personality

russetpaw is a rather impulsive cat, often doing before thinking, if he thinks at all. he is quick to always try and see the best in any cat around him, sometimes missing out or purposefully looking over their flaws, but because of this, they are also quick to forgive and want to see others better themselves into the best version they can be. he believes that there is good within everyone, somewhat naively, and is all around a rather friendly young cat.[break]

that being said, russetpaw has an affinity for attaching himself to others. he has a hard time being alone, and can become almost obsessive over others. his current obsession is flintstorm, a silver tabby tom who rescued them during the earthquake. he looks up to flintstorm deeply, even ignoring their own father from time to time to dedicate time to the silver tabby instead, aspiring to be just like them when he grows up. in his somewhat naive nature, russetpaw will also attach only good personality traits onto those that they look up to, and takes on a bit of a hero complex both in themselves and those around them, ready to dive in head first to trouble. it's not unlikely that when russetpaw becomes an apprentice, and eventually a warrior, that they might be likely to get themselves caught in some real trouble simply by acting before thinking while trying to do the right thing.

russetpaw is clearly quite strong even for his age, a cat who will likely grow up to be broad and strong to use his brawn over his brain. their eyes are a yellowish-green colour. most noticeably, russetpaw has a very lovely reddish-brown tabby coat, and on his chest and the underside of his muzzle is a patch of white. as well, there is a small bit of white fur on the bridge of their nose right between their eyes, as well as light amounts of white fur around both of their eyes. while all four paws still have a reddish-brown hue, they are a tiny bit lighter than the rest of russetpaw's fur, as well as a similar patch of somewhat lighter fur tips the end of their tail.

history

russetkit was born in the former lightningclan to embercloud and weaselstrike alongside his littermates, honeykit and tawnykit. all in all, the three had as relatively normal of an early kithood as they could have. during their play sessions, russetkit could often take the upper hand with his brute strength, but if his sisters decided to tag team on him, he could have easily been outsmarted.

when the earthquake hit, russetkit lost their mother, embercloud, as well as both of their sisters. in fact, the kit was nearly swallowed up themselves, struggling to keep up with their father. in a final moment, when all hope seemed lost, they were saved and scooped up by a silver tabby by the name of flintstorm from the gaping earth. unable to find weaselstrike in the chaos, russetkit stuck alongside flintstorm until everything finally managed to clear away.

this has continued to this day. ever since the earthquake, russetkit has nearly attached themselves to the hip of flintstorm, almost seeming to favour them over his own father, weaselstrike, much to his dismay. russetkit has deeply looked up to flintstorm ever since as his savour and his hero, practically idolizing them and wanting to be just like them. it's very clear that he hopes for nothing more than for flintstorm to become their mentor when they soon reach apprenticehood.

but that dream did not happen. instead, on the day that owlstar gave russetpaw his apprentice name, she instead assigned him nobleflame as his mentor. there was a moment that russetpaw was crushed, not totally understanding why flintstorm wouldn't be their mentor. but all the same, he knew he was going to have to put in as much work as possible to show flintstorm what they were missing by not getting to train russetpaw themselves.
