WHITEHAWK
Day 20: A rare morning of warmth sends cats hurrying in search of their favorite sunning places.
A singular yellow-green eye peered up at the sky, the sun basking against a pure white pelt. A soft tail hung behind a pair of rather bulky legs, and large paws held on to the edge of a boulder. Despite the warmth that covered him like a layer of moss from the sun’s light, there was a cool breeze that wove its way under his short fur, sending a chill down his spine.
This day was rather warm compared to the others, but this didn’t stop the small signs of Leaffall to make themselves known. Despite Leaffall starting to near its end already, it still clung to the valley with a heavy claw, trying to provide the clans at least a little bit of final warmth before Leafbare settled in. This meant that it was also time to hurry up and get as much training done as possible while the days were nice.
At this thought, the larger tom turned his head to peer behind him at the figure that followed. He remembered the very first day that he and the golden tabby were assigned to one another during his Apprentice ceremony. Tigerpaw was so young and rather small back when, but that was not the case anymore. Compared to himself, Tigerpaw was smaller, though average sized. But compared to his size when he first became an Apprentice, he had grown into quite the handsome young cat.
Their first few moons had been...rough, to say the least. Not because they didn’t get along, but because he had been assigned an Apprentice at a rather inopportune time. He still sometimes thought back to those days, back when he had to apologize for their training starting a bit later than normal. But he was sure that he had been forgiven by now. At least he hoped so.
The white tom waited for his student to reach his side before he looked forward once more, turning his head in each direction to look around them.
“The sun is starting to give off less warmth, so we need to do as much hunting as we can today while the weather is nice.” With a proud grin, Whitehawk briefly straightened his posture and looked to the tom next to him with a rather professional appearance, unlike the rest of the time they spent together. “Tigerpaw. You have been training under me for about seven moons now. I have watched you grow and become more talented over time, both with and without my help.”
His head turned back to the sky, peering at the white clouds above in silence for a moment. When he spoke again, a small smirk much more like himself pulled at his maw. “I think this is quite a nice day for a final hunting assessment. Wouldn’t you say so?” At his question, his one eye glanced sideways, though his head did not move. Regardless of his answer, the white Warrior knew that his Apprentice would do well.
