currantpaw[break] nightclan apprentice[attr="class","currantpaw-text"]
She was officially an apprentice, which meant that her mother couldn't keep her locked inside the nursery anymore. But that didn't mean that Currantpaw was one hundred percent comfortable with what it was that she was now to do. Stoatclaw hadn't given her a task today, and she finished some of her chores already. All that was left was to check on the elder's but she had checked on them, and most of them were sleeping. So, she figured that it would be the best idea to just, leave them be for now.[break][break]
The tortoiseshell she-cat made her way to find a spot to lay down while she waited. Once she found herself a spot, she curled up into a bit of a ball as a small gust of cold wind blew through her coat. The wind actually made the female shiver a bit before she wrapped her tail around herself. The sun might be up, but the wind was still cold, which seemed to counteract the whole warmth that the sun might have given her today.[break][break]
One of her ears stayed turned toward the elder's den, waiting to hear signs of movement so that she could go and do the last of her chores. Her other ear was moving with each sound as her eyes closed a little, thinking on what else she might be able to do while she waited.

WORDS: 440 | TAG: @caelia with Currentpaw | NOTES: decided to say hi with my big boy
The large charred and alabaster feline shifted his physique, malachite visage averting between the apprentices and warriors’ den. He remembered the days when he slept in the den, finding it rather comfortable and less enclosed than being surrounded by a ton of warriors. The numbing leaf-fall always called for attempting to manage body heat. He remembered the long, leaf-bare days where he’d snuggle close to his mother in the Nursery, not favoring the frigid weather. The first time he opened his menacing luminaries was looking upon a vibrant terrain of alabaster, bitter to the touch. The leaf-bare was upcoming after the falling of leaves, that turn crisp and crunchy between the toes. Badgerscar found the familiar sound satisfying, the silence of the forest with the crunch beneath his foundations. The crispy leaves shouted Leaf-Fall.
Atop umber leaves, beneath cloud coddled skies, the aroma of the fall is within earthen solemn grace. He found the season a beautiful one, with the plentiful array of colors, varying from yellow, to red, to orange, to brown. There were hints of other colors as well, the image of leaf-fall was something he looked forward to. Well, except the constant shift between cold and warm, in between, or just plain frigid. It was irksome how the weather shifted in this time of year, but then again, he didn’t complain for the beauteous scenery it provides. He was unprepared for the possible blizzards to come in leaf-bare or the scarcity of prey. He couldn’t even hunt so what did that even matter to him. Badgerscar certainly wouldn’t want to starve to death.
The behemoth, herculean tomcat noticed an apprentice who appeared alert and prepared to do something next. Attentive, or so, he assumed. Badgerscar ambulated toward the damsel, shoulders held low as he advanced forward. He walked funky, in an intimidating and menacing way as if he was going to attack. Upon his approach, he placed himself amongst his haunches in form that he was quite harmless. ”Currentpaw, if I’m correct?” He somewhat stated and inquired, decent with faces and names of others. He was observant. He couldn’t help but think back on his apprentice days, never giving training much of a break. ”How’s your training with Stoatclaw coming along?” He questioned, wondering what other apprentices had done when he was that age. All Badgerscar focused on was his combat skills which is why he lacks in hunting.

currantpaw[break] nightclan apprentice[attr="class","currantpaw-text"]
Between the slight wind blowing her own scent downwind, it was a bit harder for her to know when someone was walking up on her by smell. So, she had to rely on her hearing more than anything, and with the bustle of the clan, that still made things hard. But, she wanted to get better at basically all of her training, so she needed to really focus. After what seemed like a lifetime, she heard some paw steps.[break][break]
At first, she thought that they were coming from the Elder's Den, like she was hoping, but that was soon mistaken when she nearly jumped out of her fur when another cat spoke to her. Her eyes instantly opened and she looked at the tom in front of her. She kind of recognized him, but not much. Another reason to blame her over protective mother, Currantpaw didn't even know the name of her clan mates.[break][break]
She nodded soon enough and slide to side back on her haunches instead of laying down. "That is correct." Her vocals were soft, showing the shy nature that was apart of the she-cat. She had been about to ask the tom to remind her of his own name, when he instead asked her about her training. She thought for a few moments before she came up with a response, and the nerve to not want to stutter.[break][break]
"It's going well. I know that I need a lot of work though to be of full help to the clan." Each word that she spoke had bee thought upon as she said them aloud as well. It was a way for her to try and get over the fact that she was nervous and shy. Plus, it still helped her with that factor of talking when she just wanted to shut her maw and be quiet. She couldn't do that, not in a one on one conversation.[break][break]
But, now seemed to be the moment to ask for his name, just so that she could commit it more to memory. "I.. am sorry if this sounds.. rude, but could you remind me of your name?" She was fully prepared to be berated for not knowing a clan mates name, but she was at least attempting.

The young warrior pondered about his future, wondering about how many skirmishes he'd participate in and risk his life. Badgerscar hadn't been very ambitious, sort of just going with the flow with whatever is ahead of the brute. The tom finds himself doing plenty of thinking, often questioning the when, how, if, why, where, etc. The future rests not on the authority of the empowered, but upon the forgiveness of the abused and enslaved. It is the capacity of their hearts to embrace those who wielded power and accept the free help they rightly offer to heal and move forwards that is the salvation of all. He could only empower through himself, improving himself for the better whether it's mentally or physically.
Many figured the tomcat was lonely, considering he was mist seen doing things independently, enjoying the company of himself. The presence of others seemed as if it almost made Badgerscar uncomfortable. That wasn't the case, however; he was just asocial and preferred to be alone. Badgerscar's fixated his gaze upon the apprentice. His eyes were every hue of the forest, rimmed coolly with moss. Their lightness might have reminded others of summertime, when the sun-rays warmed each extended leaf. Next to the shade of coloration of his pelage, that deepest grey and vibrant alabaster, he was alive in the same way birds are, casually wild.
The feline's visionaries were the glimmering color of emerald, sparkling in the light of the morning sun like a fresh sheen of morning dew. When he would turn his head, this way and that, they caught the light and played tricks with anything and everything that screamed 'spring.' And when he lifted his countenance to the cerulean abyss above, emerald shifted into the color of deep ocean shimmering in the moonlight. The gaze of Badgerscar was quite intense, with the evergreen of his visage cascading through rocky ridges with speckles of umber freckling his eyes.
Badgerscar felt perplexed and vexatious, unsure of whether this conversation was going smoothly or not. It was challenging for the socially awkward tom to depict whether or not the conversation was decent or not. The tom swallowed thickly, shoving the lump within his throat down his trachea. "You're still young and have plenty of moons to improve," He gazed forward, his visionaries glistening in the sun's rays, "I still train myself to this day." He chuckled, feeling rather sheepish. Was that normal? He hadn't known.
The conversation started to fall, plummeting when he was inquired about his name. Badgerscar realized this was his mistake, huffing softly at himself for forgetting to mention his name. I really can be a mouse-brain sometimes. He thought, dubiously departing his maxilla from his mandible to speak. "I apologize, that isn't your fault Currentpaw, it was rude of me, not you." His tail flicked, "I am Badgerscar, a pleasure to officially meet you, Currentpaw."
Badgerscar was rigid when it came to conversation, not sure of what to say next. The tom was left momentarily contemplating as he awaited a response from the mademoiselle. "What skills have you learned so far? Have you gotten past the whole boring part; learning the territory?" He inquired, raising his crania to the sky, "I never enjoyed that part. I was a wild apprentice, wanting the action as soon as possible. I was lazy doing chores considering I wanted to be out and about training."

currantpaw[break] nightclan apprentice[attr="class","currantpaw-text"]
It almost seemed as if this tom was just as shy and awkward around others as she was. That was kind of a blessing in her own little way, because it meant that she wasn't the only one feeling like things were hard to come up with to talk about. But at the same time, wasn't that a bad thing? It just meant that the two of them were going to have a hard time thinking of things to say. But, while he seemed to be almost lost in thought, she just stared at him, the social norms seeming to slip right over her head as she stared at his emerald green eyes.[break][break]
That was a sign of respect right? To look another cat in the eyes? Wow, she really was lacking in this a bit and the mere thought of that made her tail flick behind her for a moment before wrapping around her paws. "You do?" Yes, she by passed the part about her age and how she still had room to grow, that wasn't what caught her attention in that statement anymore. No, instead it was the fact that a warrior had to continue to train as well. Did that mean that training technically never ended?[break][break]
"So, if you're training still, does that mean that training never actually ends? Or is it just to keep on top of things?" This was possibly the most she has spoken so far without having to think on her words. She was curious, and that was showing through the shy demeanor, for at least a second until she realized how much she actually just said. It wasn't until he apologized for not introducing himself that she felt slightly bad. She had a feeling that not a lot of the other apprentices have this issue.[break][break]
Her brother probably even knows others by now, even if just by bullying them. "The pleasure is mine Badgerscar." She might lack a bit in social skills, but she was still respectable, and that was proven as she dipped her head in a greeting as well as she returned his greeting. Her mother might have been over protective, but at least the queen had the right mind to make sure to teach manners to Currantpaw and her siblings. Whether her siblings followed them was a different story, one that Currantpaw would like to say that she knows well.[break][break]
"I'm actually still working on memorizing the territory. There's just so much, and of course there's the scent markers, but I don't want to have to rely on those only to know when our borders end." While Badgerscar stated that he liked the more action filled part of training, Currantpaw could happily say that she didn't mind the boring and mundane parts. "I don't mind training, but I also enjoy helping around the camp, so I tend to do my chores more often than other apprentices might."

Badgerscar raised his crania to the aerospace above, which wasn't akin as it was at night. The two different times of day were unique and different, as one spread light across the valley bringing smiles, while the other expressed darkness and silence. The changing of time was amaranthine, the day azureous whilst the night was an inky color. His favorite times were sunrise and sunset, at the colors are displayed differently for each time. The black and white tomcat found Blackstag's ambitions cavil and deadpanned. Badgerscar wasn't sure how to think about his past, disappointed with the way he forged his techniques. Through the violence of his brother, Blackstag. He hoped to never grow like him, wanting to be his own individual. There were times where he feared his vindictiveness would get ahead.
Badgerscar enjoyed the act of revenge, as it was a rather selfish trait. He was mentally stable, of course, he just felt relief after the retaliation has been successful. As he looked above, he descried a robin, wishing he had worked more on his hunting skills as an apprentice. The tom couldn't quite complain, which the disparity of Blackstag's training, he was a combat-ready feline. He continued to envisage his memories, the moments every time Badgerscar was struck by Blackstag, eventuating in a plentiful amount of scars. He was bemused, curious if his older brother Blackstag would flout StarClan's code or the leader's. Badgerscar assumed his brother would go one way or another, but it wasn't really his business.
Compared to him, Currentpaw was infinitesimal, towering over the young apprentice. Badgerscar had grown to an immense size and mass, using his strengths to his advantage any time he has the opportunity. He figured he'd instigate more conversation, feeling somewhat at ease speaking to someone younger than himself. Badgerscar could remember meandering through forest only to be ambushed by his mentor, Redoak. He swallowed thickly, retracing his memories in his craniul. The behemoth tomcat's ponders were eventually interrupted by Currentpaw's soft vocalizations. Finally, it seemed he piqued her interest. Badgerscar couldn't help but simper, nodding his crania in response before speaking up. "Yes, I do, and I suppose, it's a bit of both for me. I enjoy keeping my body toned and in shape for anything I should be ready for. I typically wake up at dawn and find myself in the territory, and when that happens, I hone my techniques."
"Memorizing the territory is normally the boring part for apprentices, and can become extensive to those who don't pay attention," He exhaled softly, shifting his piercing gaze toward the damsel, "I'm glad you enjoy your apprentice duties. I never did. I always attempted to skip them to train. I dedicate myself to the protection of myself and others which is why I focus so much on my skills. I suppose you can say I like to be somewhat impressionable or noticeable in the clan. I haven't had an apprentice yet, but I'm sure it will be a wonderful experience."

The multicolored she-cat watched the charcoal-grey tom carefully. She was curious about what his answers were going to be, and she wasn't really surprised when she heard them. She thought on what it was that he was saying. Just because he was a warrior, didn't mean that he still didn't need to practice and train. So, that meant that it was going to be the same for her as well. She didn't seem to mind this at all as she thought on it.[break][break]
It made sense to her though at the same time, because by training and practicing all of the time, it guarantees that the warrior doesn't doesn't get rusty. "That makes sense..." She trailed off as she thought about it some more. The more she thought on it, the more that it was making more and more sense to her. She wondered if it would benefit her to try and make a friend though.[break][break]
Would a friend make it easier for her to be able to train and practice? That would probably be a better question for another day though. "It's not easy. I want to be able to know everything that Stoatclaw can teach me, but it's far from easy." She looked at him though, curiosity clearly in her eyes as she studied him. Listening to the aspirations he had, she couldn't help but wonder why he really wanted to be noticed within the clan.[break][break]
But that was also just her normal shy and quiet self internally wondering that question. "Do you.. ever train or practice with someone else? I just wonder.. if it makes it easier." She thought on his comment about having an apprentice, and she flicked an ear lightly. "I'm sure Darkstar will find the perfect apprentice for you."

WORDS: 390 | TAG: @caelia with Currentpaw | NOTES: --;- Badgerscar observed the apprentice momentarily before his vision trailed elsewhere. He began to gaze into the vast, cerulean abyss that was above them. Badgerscar exhaled softly, closing his green hues for a moment. The silence in the moment put the tom at ease, muscles loosening. A bitter zephyr pulled through, rippling his pelage, alongside his whiskers. The goodness of the autumnal foliage and berry comes to the winter cradle, asking this icy queen to return them to their mother, Earth. Leaf-fall was dissipating before their eyes, being dragged into the icy wrath of Leaf-bare. He shook his crania, fretting for the upcoming season.
The atramentous and alabaster tom found leaf-bare tedious and dreadful, bringing despair amongst the clans. He remembered the first days of leaf-fall. On this first day of autumn, the late summer blooms are the vibrant earthly echoes of the elder tree berries above. The summer dancers have taken their rest as autumn takes the stage, her rich late blooms, her banquet of berries, her promise to turn green leaves into gold. The more leaf-fall aged, leaf-bare would begin to take control, freezing the water sources, killing off their herbs, prey escaping to hibernation or death, frigid temperatures. It was the worst. He scoffed, shaking his head at the thought of leaf-bare. The leaf-bare was capricious and enervating to everyone.
Badgerscar offered a small smile toward the young apprentice, "When I was an apprentice, I would ask my older brother, Blackstag to assist me in training. However, in my age now, I've grown more independent," He shrugged his shoulders, auditories oscillating, "I like being on my own, but my technique might be sharper if I trained with someone else. I'm not a sociable type, so I don't really have anyone to train with. Not close with anyone here in the clan, I suppose you could say." He explained.
The brawny, tattered feline's mandibles departed, exposing sharp dentations. He closed his mouth, teeth clattering together as it closed. "I'm sure Darkstar will as well, I have hopes." He exhaled, turning his gaze down toward Currentpaw. "What are you most excited to learn during your training? Or, hoping to learn? I'm assuming all mentors are different with their teachings."
no one is actually dead, until the ripples they caused in the world die away.
