Owlstar
LightningClan || 81 Moons || Leader
It was time.
Nimble, gray paws led the lanky feline towards the Hill Top as gray clouds continued to settle within the sky. It was early in the morning, though the sun could hardly be seen through the darkness of the incoming storm. The wise molly figured now would be the best time to start the well awaited ceremony, fearing that it may end up raining later within that chilly Leaf-fall day.
Bounding up the small slope, the newly appointed leader stood proud as she parted her whitening maw to call for her clan in that familiar raspy voice. "All cats swift enough to race through the moors please gather around the Hill Top for a clan meeting." That sharp tone rang through the openness of the camp as warriors of multiple pelt colors shifted to emerge into the chilly morning air.
The bustle within the nursery was well noted as queens attempted to corral the kits into a somewhat contained manner despite their obvious excitement. Several young paws had recently reached their sixth moon, and unfortunately the Nursery was just not large enough to house each growing youngster comfortably. Besides, it was high time they took on a new role within their life, one that would lead them into warriorhood within moons of time and training.
A swell of pride rose within the elder leader's chest as Windspirit and Rosefire herded the group of eight as Dandelionkit stayed back with Cloudyfeather. The two she-cats were sitting comfortably at the entrance of the warm, milk-scented den. Owlstar had chosen to hold her back for a specific reason, she was gentle and kind and perhaps suited for a different route than that of a warrior apprentice. However, that subject would have to be brought up later with Kindleflare, for now it was time to announce the others in-front of the clan.
"Our nursery is full, Lightningclan is growing stronger with each passing moon. It's only appropriate that we watch as these eight young kits journey into the next important part of their life." Owlstar started, letting her wide gaze slowly travel over each feline that had gathered in attendance that morning. The gray molly had already figured out the mentors who would be taking each youngster under their proverbial wing, the leader always one for planning and strategies.
"Tigerkit, Swiftkit, Harekit, Snowkit, Daringkit, Noblekit and Valiantkit," That was a mouthful but Owlstar couldn't help the small snip of excitement that rose within her lanky form, though of course it didn't reach her near permanent and stoic expression. One of her true passions had always been to mentor the younger generations, and now she could stand there and officially move kits to apprenticeship.
It was truly a wonderful moment for the aging she-cat.
"You have all reached six moons of age. From this point on, until you receive your warrior names, each of you will be known respectively as Tigerpaw, Swiftpaw, Harepaw, Snowpaw, Daringpaw, Noblepaw and Valiantpaw." There was a flicker of the leader's long, thin tail as she listed off the names of the eight different cats, the delight in each pair of eyes as they stared up at her was amusing. Though her amber hues lingered upon the mischievous pair of pale Bengal twins who shared a look and a smirk. It was only a matter of time before their antics moved from simple nursery play to more chaotic adventures.
"Goldenblaze." Owlstar's gaze moved to look at the large figure of her oldest daughter, a she-cat that had more than willingly proven that she was ready for such a duty despite the youth of her moons. "You will mentor Tigerpaw, I hope you pass on to her your sense of duty and selflessness." Her rasp sounded within the quietness of the open camp before her gaze shifted to another warrior.
"Thunderheart, you will mentor Swiftpaw." Perhaps a shocker to many cats but the old she-cat had a solid hope when it came to this pairing. Swiftpaw was in many ways, similar to his new mentor. She truly hoped that this pairing could squeeze out a bit of maturity and responsibility when it came to the rather laxidasical warrior. "I hope you can pass on your curiosity and explorative nature."
"Sparkjaw, you will mentor Harepaw." Ah, the equally as mischievous twin of Swiftpaw. She had given them quiet the different temperments when it came to choices in mentorship. Thunderheart had always been less active within the clan, while Sparkjaw tended to be interested and rather hot-headed. "I hope you pass on your passion and ambitious nature."
"Russet-tail, you will mentor Snowpaw." While the young, broodish tomcat attempted to act like he could care less, it was hard to slip anything past the watchful gaze of the aging leader. The ginger tailed warrior had a softness when it came to the queens and their kits, and what better way to start him with mentorship than to give him a gentle natured she-cat. "I hope you pass on your honesty and reliable nature."
"Crowface," She was taking a chance with this one, and while Owlstar rather liked the black Oriental in general it was well known that she had a terrible temper and rather hostile attitude. Yet, perhaps it was best to light a fire under the youngster that was to be given to her. "You will mentor Daringpaw, I hope you pass on your loyalty and bravery." Daringpaw had been known to often be in cahoots with the rambunctious twins of Windspirit, perhaps a firm paw was just what he needed.
"Cloudthroat, you will mentor Noblepaw." Owlstar was rather pleased to give the older tomcat another ward, he was a calming note within the wildness of the clan among the Moors and a wise mind that was similar to her own. Noblepaw had often shown impressive intellect at such a young age, she would learn much from her new mentor. "I hope you pass on your knowledge and humble nature."
And lastly,
"Leopardheart." Yes, the former Treeclanner had come full circle and Owlstar believed that the young Bengal was ready to take the next step within his life as a warrior of Lightningclan. Being a mentor was a difficult but rewarding task, something that could not only help the young apprentice learn but also aid in the warrior's growth as well. "You will mentor Valiantpaw. I hope you pass on your dedication and hard working nature."
Her tail flickered as she concluded the ceremony, "We welcome you to the rank of apprentice, and I am delighted to watch you grown and learn within these next moons of your life."

Wisdom. Courage. Strategy.
