• As the ceremony he'd longed for all his life concluded to the ebbing cheers of his Clanmates, Glacierspring walked slowly to the entryway of camp in order to begin his warrior vigil. The morning had dawned fiery red and purple, and sunset was much the same now. As the sun dropped down beneath the trees, shadows grew long, far longer than the long tom's legs and ears. Chilliness crept into the air all of a sudden. Although technically this was not guard patrol, Glacierspring dutifully looked every cat in the eye as they passed him, making sure he recognized their face and that no cat was a stranger to him. The day dimmed and as the dusk patrol departed, all of TreeClan's camp dwelled in stillness, leaving just him and his fellow newly-made warrior Robinflight to their vigil. Some cats might have judged Robinflight for taking so many moons to complete her apprenticeship. True, she had been one of the older apprentices when Glacierspring had just become Glacierpaw, but the tom had never paid much attention to the accomplishments of others (for better or for worse). As the apprentice of the fierce deputy Pumafang, the silver tom had enough to worry about on his own plate without constantly comparing himself to others or their progress with his. As much as he longed for a normal life, he was glad that he'd been taught to be so humble. He left all the comparisons to his sisters, whose pettiness and court intrigues left them wanting for allies in the apprentices' den. He used this vigil to think about his life so far and how he wanted to grow as a warrior. He was proud of his successes so far. He had shown Pumafang and Lionstar both that he was qualified as a warrior. He'd fought with glory against NightClan. The lanky tom took in a deep breath, his silvery ruff whitening as his chest expanded and spiked out the fur there. He pulled his long tail in around himself so it wouldn't get stepped on. As the sun set further in the sky, the warmth was sapped out of the day. Coolness crept into the camp, keeping the tom from nodding off as day became night and stars glistened through the canopy overhead. He stood as still as a well-rooted tree. Occasionally, he glanced at Robinflight out of the corner of his eye, but the stoic statue kept his attention on the pitch-black night sprawling out ahead of them. Grasshoppers chirped in the dark. Fireflies blinked and danced in the air. He could tell it was going to be Greenleaf soon because of all the bugs, but he disliked this uncharacteristically cold night. Glacierspring glanced over at Robinflight again and flicked his tail in her direction. When he thought he had her attention, the tom tilted his wedge-shaped head and wagged his ears, wordlessly asking if she was doing alright. He shifted his weight, preparing to switch places if she wanted to move to keep herself awake. After all, their shared vigil required them to be utterly silent and awake the whole night through. current calendar Newleaf 20: The morning dawns with fiery red and purple clouds, and while the day is pleasant, the night gives way to unseasonably cool temperatures. | GLACIERSPRING of TREECLAN • warrior • 12 moons • #4a6c92 out-of-character remarks ♛ 𝔽𝕒𝕓𝕣𝕚𝕔𝕒𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 quick warrior vigil thread for robin and glacier <3 maybe they can hear something strange in your reply or challenge a opossum into going the other way? |
