Sagepaw Treeclan Medicine Cat Apprentice I swam through a vast world, past my own feelings of not wanting to regret anything The morning dawned warmly through the trees, but when she awoke, she saw that Acornpaw's bed was empty. Sagepaw rolled over one way, then the other, and she jolted up with a start. Her ears pinned backwards as she gave an exasperated sigh. You're not a kit anymore, Sagepaw. She just was so used to always being near her sister. Exhaling loudly through her nose, the blue Somali pulled herself out of bed and shook moss out of her pelt. She groomed herself as best as she could to look presentable as a young apprentice. She didn't want to be approach Falconstorm looking like a slob.
The young she-cat stepped out of the apprentice's den and was immediately accosted by a bossy TreeClan warrior demanding why she hadn't woken up earlier and gotten started on her chores. Before she was given a chance to speak, she was ushered off to the elders' den and pushed in with two other apprentices who were already putting fresh bedding in place. "Go take that out," one ordered, whipping her tail in the direction. She looked pretty enough, but all Sagepaw could think about was how snobby she sounded. She didn't argue though and rolled all of the old dirty moss together, ruining her groom job. She stopped to briefly lick her chest, but the apprentice tsk'd loudly at her until she left the den as quickly as she'd been shoved in there in the first place.
Sagepaw headbutted the tumbleweed out of the elders' den and dragged it past everyone in camp determinedly. The lithe Somali fought with it all the way out the small exit that the cats used to make dirt. She squeezed it through, yellowed moss sprinkling on either side of her. Although the moss itched terribly, she was grateful for its masking as she walked into the dirtplace. The sharp harshness of ammonia curdled her nose and she thrust the used moss across the ground. Turning tail, Sagepaw scrambled back through the hole, holding her breath the entire time.
"Ugh!" she dry-heaved. She wasn't paying attention to where she was going and without warning, Sagepaw ran right into a pale ginger tabby. The blue Somali's eyes widened as she started, leaping into the air on her spindly kittenish legs and hopping backwards. "OH! Sorry! I just couldn't breathe out there." She looked back the way she'd come and grimaced, walking backward until she felt the log wall press against her flank. "I didn't mean to bump into you. I'm Sagepaw, by the way..." She ducked her head in greeting. “I’m not giving up!” Just saying that won’t make it happen

The soft humming drew closer and closer as the pale ginger tabby pushed her way through the entrance of camp with a mouse in her jaws from her hunt. Her oceanic eyes took in briefly the go-ons within the familiar campsite she grew up in. Fresh eyed and bushy tailed as she was to be a warrior only that last 6 moons. Her heart went out when she noticed a young apprentice being scolded by a passerby warrior as soon as she exited the apprentice den. Primrosepetal watched with a small frown as she watched the young molly skitter her way to the elders den where she disappeared inside. The young warrior made her way towards fresh kill pile; curiously passing by the elders den to hear the snappy tones of the other apprentices obviously not too happy that the one molly had gotten there late. Heh, that just wouldn't do. Primrosepetal made her way to the fresh kill pile where she had originally had been heading to and dropped her catch onto the growing pile. It wasn't much but it was better then not contributing to the cause of feeding her clan. The ginger tabby warrior honestly hated the thought to kill an innocent creature but she knew it had to be done. She gave thanks for it's life right after she killed it and had taken it back home with her. She knew her fresh kill would provide for the clan no matter how many she brought back or how big or small it was. What Primrosepetal didn't expect to see was the young apprentice being seemingly bullied by the others around. She hadn't noticed it until now as she witnessed it first hand. Watching as the young apprentice pushed the gross smelling moss away from the den she worked on the ginger she-cat decided she would go and see if she could help. She'd remembered how awful it was having to change the bedding and from the look on the other's face she knew the apprentice didn't like it either. So, she followed the younger she-cat and waited patiently as she dumped the dirty bedding off and turned to leave. Except of seeing her first she seemed to not have realized just how close the other had been or that there was another cat there before she bumped into the ginger warrior. The look of surprise flashed across her face but Primrosepetal merely gave her a warm smile and shook her head stepping back.
"I'm sorry love! I didn't mean to scare you. I shouldn't have snuck up on you like that. It was my fault." She tipped her head to her.
Her eyes were soft and gentle as she watched the skittish younger she-cat. Primrosepetal had always had a gentle heart and she followed her intuition to follow this apprentice and talk with her. She loved the younger generation like the kits and the apprentices. Maybe it was because she herself was pretty fresh out of the apprentice den herself. She was only 18 moons old and had just been made a warrior so she understood how hard it could be for apprentices these days as she was still close in age to them.
"It's nice to meet you Sagepaw. My name's Primrosepetal." the larger molly smiled down at her. "I just wanted to see if you wished for some help perhaps? I saw you weren't really treated well by the others. I don't mind helping. I remember when I used to have to do that myself. It was awful especially having to deal with that awful smell! It could rival a skunk I'm sure!" she laughed softly and looked over her shoulder towards the den they had been working on.
"I remember my days as an apprentice. It wasn't always fun. I wouldn't mind helping you though, I don't want you to feel like you're being used or having a hard time with it." she looked back at Sagepaw with a curious look. "Do you get bullied often?" a small frown tugged at her pretty face. If anything, the young warrior was a bit childish and didn't have a filter so she didn't realized off the bat that it was probably not the best question to ask the younger apprentice after just meeting her. She didn't know how to go about talking about a sensitive topic; Primrosepetal just sort of blurted out what she was thinking. KARAZHALNote: Yay! This will be fun!

Sagepaw Treeclan Medicine Cat Apprentice I swam through a vast world, past my own feelings of not wanting to regret anything The wretched scent of cat-dirt and old moss was enough to blind any cat, and so she hadn't noticed the pretty young warrior Primrosepetal until Sagepaw barreled into her. Although startled by the she-cat's sudden presence, the quaint warrior's apology quickly won Sagepaw over and the blue Somali settled down. While the tabby talked, Sagepaw took the opportunity to groom herself, running her raspy tongue across her long fur. It had the added benefits of soothing her when she was stressed as well as ridding her of undesirable stenches. Although it may have looked like she was entirely focused on her own pelt, she was listening to Primrosepetal, as evidenced by her large ears pointed forward the whole time, twitching one way or another in reaction.
"Yeah, well, they're older than me, so it's to be expected," she replied with a shrug, pulling her tongue away from her slender right paw and setting her leg on the ground. She stood prim and proper, looking quite composed now that she was well-groomed again. "They're nothing compared to the way Falconstorm treats me." The light in Sagepaw's eyes dimmed, and she broke away from Primrosepetal's gaze to stare at her own paws. She wished her mentor could be more like Primrosepetal--gentle, soft-spoken, friendly. Although the tom's methods were good for toughening her up against other cats in the future, the young molly felt like there was little she could do right in the medicine cat's eyes. Either she was in the way, or unwanted, or outright ignored--she preferred being ignored over the yowling actually.
Sagepaw flexed her claws, not sure how to respond to Primrosepetal. She didn't want to vent about her mentor only to have him show up behind her, so maybe she would take up the she-cat's offer to help. "I don't want to seem like I can't pull my own weight, but if I haul another moss collection over here, can you be the one to toss it out?" She grimaced at the way she'd been, her nose curling at the sharp odor there. “I’m not giving up!” Just saying that won’t make it happen Fae Magic sage is glad for primrose's friendliness

Soft oceanic eyes watched the younger she-cat in front of her as she seemed to need a moment to compose herself. Primrosepetal hoped she had not come off a too nosy or too forward with her words as she watched Sagepaw. Now that she thought about it even if they had not officially met the ginger tabby had seen the young apprentice coming and going out of Falconstorm's den an awful lot. That's when she suddenly realized who she was speaking with. Again, not that they met before but Primrosepetal had been in such in her own world recently that she hadn't even realized who Falconstorm took under his wing as an apprentice. She knew he had one she just never had known who it was up until now. Smiling a bit brighter at the younger she-cat the young warrior tipped her head over her shoulder towards the medicine den with amusement sparkling in her blue gaze.
"Oh come now, just because you are young doesn't give them that right to bully. What on earth would Falconstorm say to that? I know he's a bit of a crusty elder sometimes but he does care in his own way I'm sure! Besides, he would rather him be the one to yowl your poor ears off instead of some other apprentices hmm? After all you are his apprentice, it's his job isn't it?" she teased
She really didn't mean much by her joking. She knew that Falconstorm was a great medic within the clan as she herself has once before been an apprentice eager eyes and bushy tailed watching him work and wondering once day if she could become a medicine cat like him. It was her own secret of course but everyone seemed to have had that thought cross their mind once or twice. With how sweet Primrosepetal was she was well known to not be really reliable when it came to the chance of a fight. She didn't like hurting others let alone other creatures. She prayed over every soul she took of innocent lives of the animals she hunted in the territory and she would never strike down or raise a paw or claw against anyone whether it be ally or foe.
"I once dreamed of being where you are right now; did you know that?" she sighed wistfully looking towards the medicine den. "I don't like hurting people or creatures of any kind...silly I know since I'm a warrior. I dreamed one day to be a medicine cat like Falconstorm...to be able to help others heal...not harm." she frowned looking down at the apprentice. "No one should get bullied especially someone so young. They should know better too; you are Falconstorm's apprentice which means you should be respected for your rank." she added before looking down at her paws thoughtfully.
"Anyways, don't mind my rambling...I'm just passionate about spreading the love." she laughed softly "But yes, I'll gladly help you take out the soiled moss. It'll be quicker that way if we both work together." she agreed.

Sagepaw Treeclan Medicine Cat Apprentice I swam through a vast world, past my own feelings of not wanting to regret anything "I'd rather it not be either, actually," Sagepaw replied coldly, scowling in response to the tease. Neither of her parents had needed to yell or hit her to keep her in line. She didn't see why others felt the need to do so, as if screaming at a young cat did anything more productive that calm conversation couldn't. A mentor was supposed to be the mature one, the one who has all his paws together. As Primrosepetal continued, Sagepaw got the impression that no one really knew who their medicine cat was. He kept them all at a distance unless they were in danger. No one ever willingly socialized with Falconstorm, and here Primrosepetal seemed to think everything was pure roses in the medicine cat den. Perhaps some of her mentor was leaching into Sagepaw, for she felt irritation rise in her tail-fur as Primrosepetal gushed about her own ideals.
"... help others heal... not harm." Sagepaw was grateful for the old moss she carried, hiding her eye rolling expression. "That's not all we do," she remarked, but she had no intentions on explaining further--it would only be a distraction. "And it's not bullying. I'm not helpless. Rosepaw's just lazy and pushes her work on others if she can get away with it. Like I said, Falconstorm's way worse." She looked Primrosepetal up and down with raised eyebrows. "You should ask him if you can take my place, you know, since it's your dream." And get a taste of the medicine cat's cutthroat nature. She almost took a little pleasure in the thought of Falconstorm inflicting his meanness on someone else for a change, but Sagepaw suddenly saw Sprucefur's disappointed expression in her mind and thought better of it. It would make her a bully.
"Uhh..." Spreading the love? "Thanks...," Sagepaw replied slowly, giving the hippie she-cat a weird expression but not begrudging her help. She started making her way back to the elders' den. Heaving a sigh of relief to see that Rosepaw and her sister were no longer there, she pulled some moss from the pile and dragged it over to Appleshade, switching out some of the bedding that smelled like mousebile. She greeted the sorrel elder fondly, for Appleshade was her father's littermate and she resembled her aunt greatly. Although she did not want to leave her, the mousebile stench was too much and she needed to dispose of the second load of soiled bedding.
Primrosepetal was right. It was much quicker when they worked together. "Thanks," she said again, this time with sincerity. “I’m not giving up!” Just saying that won’t make it happen Fae Magic i feel like sage is going to say something really really mean someday and just hate herself afterward

Primrosepetal's jaws parted slightly as if she was going to say something but nothing came out. She didn't mean her words to make the apprentice switch from shy to suddenly cold. The look on her face made the older molly hesitate wondering if she said something wrong. Primrosepetal didn't mean anything rude or inconsiderate by anything she said if the apprentice took it the wrong way. She didn't always realized the no filter on her brain could make others feel uncomfortable or her happy sweet nature make others think she's weird but the way the other spoke back to her after what she made her feel bad for whatever reason not fully understanding why it made her feel the way she did. The once genuine smile that was her face was now strained and only half hearted. Now she was the one feeling bad and uncomfortable not knowing how to deal with their conversation at this point. She she start a different on with a new subject or try and scramble to recover what was left of the mess the previous conversation was.
"Oh, yes well I'm sure Falconstorm doesn't want to change apprentices even if I were allowed to switch ranks." she replied back lamely as she looked away feeling uncomfortable.
This was why others didn't think she'd be a great warrior. She hated killing or hurting others; her personality was too soft and sweet to lay a claw on someone or something. Even if she was having a conversation with someone she was not always aware of how she came off to others that although made her loved by others most days could easily be flipped around to making others uncomfortable because of how she came off to people. Which exactly what was happening here. Keeping her mouth shut she just followed the younger she-cat and headed to the elders den where she was greeted with the sight of the elders and the scent of dirty moss. She smiled warmly over at the older warriors lying in the den.
"Hi, you guys okay? Have you eaten anything this morning yet?" she asked looked between them all. "I'll bring something by whenever I'm done helping Sagepaw alright?" she promise sweetly before turning to the pile that was quickly growing of the dirty moss and began rolling them away from the den to the waste area where they'd dump the dirty moss.
She sighed once she was by herself to breath a moment and gather herself for the conversation with Sagepaw before turning and heading back. When she spotted the apprentice she looked at her in hesitation before asking.
"Why did you become the medicine cat apprentice?" she was rather curious about that if she didn't seem too keen on being there anyways.

Sagepaw Treeclan Medicine Cat Apprentice I swam through a vast world, past my own feelings of not wanting to regret anything Well, she didn't act smug about it. Sagepaw's catty edge softened; she felt a little guilty seeing Primrosepetal look like that, but it had still hurt to hear that she should've expected Falconstorm to act the way he did, that it was normal or something. She didn't want it to be normalized. She wanted to be perfect at everything about being a medicine cat so Falconstorm didn't have a leg to stand on when it came to criticizing her about anything. She hated the way he criticized everything, from her to her clanmates to his den being out of order the moment she stepped foot in there. Being unwelcome was akin to making her feel useless!
However, she knew she wasn't. The elders had welcomed her warmly, and while they had their crabby moments, Sagepaw knew it was only because their bones hurt and their whiskers were failing. She was glad to help them out.
After Primrosepetal kept up her end of the agreement, tossing out the old moss, Sagepaw felt completely unclean and hated the fact that she couldn't clean herself, not unless she wanted the taste of mousebile clinging to her tongue. "I'll tell you while we go grab some fresh prey for the elders," she told the she-cat. She began walking. "I didn't choose it, if that's what you're asking. StarClan did. Lionstar was the one who told my parents but I didn't know until the ceremony." She wasn't sure if Primrosepetal had been there for the naming ceremony and had seen her dumbfounded expression. "I'm just glad they let me stay with my sister, Acornpaw. Do you have any siblings you relate to?"
“I’m not giving up!” Just saying that won’t make it happen

Primrosepetal did her duty to help the apprentice clean out the elder's nest of dirty moss while Sagepaw went about how she felt about her apprenticeship. The pale ginger tabby listened with an open mind. She didn't say anything just in case she said something wrong again as they finished up their chore and Sagepaw offered to tell her about her decision to become a medicine cat apprentice while they retrieved some fresh kill for the elders as Primrosepetal had promised them. As they walked the older warrior listened to her story of how her destiny was chosen for her by Starclan and that piqued her interest. As they nosed through the fresh kill offered from this mornings hunt she mulled over her words before looking up at the apprentice and gave her a warm smile.
"Then there shouldn't be anything to be so sour about. Look at it this way Sagepaw. Starclan themselves chose you, which means that you're something extraordinary. Not just special but something extraordinary then the others. Falconstorm can be a bit of a stick in the mud sure...but, that being said. Look at it from his point of view,. He was assigned the task of training someone that Starclan themselves chose for the task of being the next Medicine cat after him. That puts a lot of pressure on him not just you. Sure, you may feel pressured to be the best you can be because of the fact Starclan chose you. But, mistakes are human nature and Starclan knows that. No one can be absolutely perfect. Not even Falconstorm himself. He wants to train you to the best of his abilities to make sure that Starclan is happy...because the plans they have for you is something that is going to change our lives. You are special; whether Starclan says so or not. You try your hardest at what you do and no matter how much Falconstorm may yowl at you just remind yourself you're still young and have great many things to learn as long as you are open minded to the task at hand. Don't take his harshness to heart okay? Just think how he feels...not how you presume him to feel because of how he acts around you." she offered looking towards the medicine den in thought.
"I know it might seem unfair for you because your life was chosen for you before you were born...I know you might want to have a normal life. But think, if you chose to go a different path then what Starclan chose for you. What people would you miss meeting? What lives would you have missed saving? What wisdom would you have not given to someone who may have needed it if you decided on a different path?" she looked down at the apprentice and gave her a soft smile. "It's all in the bigger picture. Now, I'm not elder so I can't say too much on wisdom and what I just told you maybe from a dreamers heart and sound so foolish or silly to you. But, I believe that everyone has a destiny made out for them. It's just our choice on whether we answer that call in the end." she shrugged as she picked up a squirrel and tipped her head towards the elders den.
"Come on, lets go feed the elders. We can continue talking if you'd like once they're fed. Or you can tell me to buzz off or something, I wouldn't be mad at you if you got offended by what I said." she looked away sheepishly. "I don't have a filter on my mouth sometimes."

Sagepaw Treeclan Medicine Cat Apprentice I swam through a vast world, past my own feelings of not wanting to regret anything While they pawed through the fresh-kill pile searching for the tastiest choices for the elders, Primrosepetal spoke her piece regarding Falconstorm and Sagepaw. Sagepaw kept her ears from flattening but while she listened, her tail still puffed out in irritation. She was used to the soft closeness of her parents and sisters, where she could be coddled in their love for her and hear her out unconditionally. She didn't like that this she-cat kept demanding her empathy extend to someone who didn't show her a pawful. It was a lesson a future medicine cat should learn, of course, but the young she-cat was still a child wrestling with her own emotions, strengths, and insecurities. It was hard to care about whatever pressures Falconstorm was under. Couldn't he get over all that and just treat her like any normal cat would.
But he isn't a normal cat..., a voice whispered in reply, as if from beyond this world. It was there and then it was gone, leaving Sagepaw to her prey pile. When Primrosepetal looked toward the medicine cat den, the Blue Somali's eyes were burning into the fat squirrel at her feet. "I don't regret becoming the medicine cat apprentice," she huffed. "The others are perfectly nice enough," she said, referring to the four other medicine cats and their respective apprentices she'd met at her first medicine cat meeting. "Maybe I should just pray for StarClan to make him calm down and see all the pressure that's on me." Perhaps she was being selfish, but right now, she didn't care. She was the kid here. She was the only apprentice Falconstorm had ever had, and it felt like he was taking all his inexperience as a mentor out on her.
And yet... It's all in the bigger picture. Sagepaw blew air through her nose loudly and stared down at all the different glassy eyes in the fresh-kill pile. She wanted to be friends with Primrosepetal, as she did with everyone in the Clan, so she reluctantly admitted that the she-cat had some good points, even if she didn't like her presumptions about some things. Adults were always covering for each other, it seemed. She would have to talk to Acornpaw for her opinion, and she knew her sister would commiserate. The thought alone helped her feel better so she forced the bad attitude out of her tail and picked up the biggest squirrel she could see. Biting its tail, she swung it back and forth until it had the momentum to ragdoll around her neck and flop across her shoulders.
"I should be getting back to the medicine cat den after this," Sagepaw admitted. "I've been avoiding him because I didn't want to deal with my mentor's attitude. I guess I should take your advice and be open-minded in our lessons." She began walking back with the warrior to the elder's den with their meals. “I’m not giving up!” Just saying that won’t make it happen

The pretty ginger tabby gave the apprentice an apolgetic look. So, it seemed her words of wisdom and encouragement seemed to make the apprentice feel even worse...or at least get her temper rolling. Primrosepetal gave a strained smile but hid it by picking up a random piece of prey and nodded towards the other. There wasn't much left for her to say; she'd done enough talking with the apprentice. Whether she took her words to heart or brushed them off just like another warrior or apprentice talking crap to her or lecturing her. The warrior was not trying to make the other seem like she was bugging her over something like her training. She knew that Sagepaw wasn't happy at the moment and she didn't want to make her even more upset by speaking about matters that she probably didn't have the right to speak about. Primrosepetal did not know Falconstorm as well as Sagepaw might have or like others so she couldn't judge him any more then Sagepaw understood him. She just wished she could help the apprentice out; only it seemed Sagepaw did not wish for the help. She'd heard the words all over the place from others and was tired of hearing them. That was okay, Primrosepetal would take her leave. If by chance her words had hit home then that was a plus. But, at least their conversation and time gave them some time to bond...ish? maybe. Sighing around the random piece of fresh kill she had snagged she followed the apprentice back towards the elders den to give them one of their meals for the day. Feeling a little gloomy on her own part because she felt like she failed cheering up Sagepaw and realizing that the smaller female was no in fact as shy as she comes off at the beginning. She gave her offering to the Elders before backing up and gave a warm farewell to them saying something about having other errands to attend to before looking at Sagepaw and gave her a small smile.
"Thank you for letting me keep you company for a little while Sagepaw. Sorry if I made a fool of myself earlier about all that chatter. I didn't mean to make you upset in any way. I probably said stuff that got on your nerves; I have a habit of doing that. You can think about what I said or just ignore it. It's okay either way. Have a good rest of the day okay? I'll see you around I'm sure!" the ginger tabby told her before waving at her with her tail in farewell and padded out of the Elders den and into the clearing of camp; heaving a breath she shook the feeling away and straightened up. Looking for the next person she could help out in camp. Maybe she'll go visit the kittens in the nursery or something! That sounded like a good idea. Maybe hopefully then she would bother anyone else with chit chat that upset anyone. With that in mind she headed for the nursery poking her head in with a warm greeting for whomever would be inside; leaving Sagepaw to the rest of her day and whatever she had to do.
Note: End of thread for Primrose. KARAZHAL
