She was doing nothing in particular. Maybe she should be doing something but her attention was often flickering through like the sun through the foliage. Today was going to be a bit unproductive. It wasn't like she minded just sitting around and enjoying the newleaf weather - but she also knew she had to do her duties as a warrior. Oh, she had every intention of doing something to bring back food to RainClan though! Sedgenose just found it hard to concentrate. Rather than let food escape through her paws or being in a daze for a patrol... well, she was off trying to clear her head.
It didn't really work as well as she thought it could. Standing in the middle of the cove, she frowned softly against her features. The scent of prey was tempting - but she would not take before feeding her Clan. She'd just that motivation to find something. Then nobody could say she was doing nothing today. Dropping into a crouch, she'd follow the scent of a squirrel. Ahead of her, it was scurrying around. A piece of food in its little paws. She felt bad it had to be killed to feed her community, but swiftly ended it as quickly as possible so it didn't suffer. As she bent her head over the corpse, she sent a silent prayer to StarClan.
Her prayers, however, would be interrupted. A twig snapping alerted her of something else. Sedgenose's eyes snapped open, staring around wide but unafraid. "Anyone there?" she called out, wondering who would answer her.

Poppytail meandered through the tiny streams and brooks of her Clan's territory. Although she was mostly white, her circular calico patches broke up her shape and allowed her some camouflage. However, she wasn't hunting (not yet, anyway) and so she did not really care if prey could see her or not. She just wanted to leave camp--and her insufferable brother, Perchpelt--behind and hope that the beautiful terrain could clear her head. She and Berrybreeze often wandered RainClan's territory when they were still apprentice and mentor so it was a source of comfort to tread the babbling brooks and listen to the wind blowing through the reeds.
She smelled the blood first.
Blinking wide bright green eyes, she lurched forward, running around the wooded cove and tracking the scent. A twig snapped underpaw in her haste. Suddenly, a voice called out Anyone there? and Poppytail's head jerked in the direction. The smell came stronger now, and she relaxed as she also caught the scent of prey. Poppytail let out a low sigh of relief. "Just me, Sedgenose. Sorry for the intrusion." She indicated the squirrel with a submissive gesture, showing that she wasn't going to challenge her clanmate for the prey. Her tail slumped. She would have to find another place to relax away from Perchpelt. The last thing she wanted was to bring Sedgenose's mood down. The other she-cat had been so nice to her when Poppytail had still been Poppypaw lagging behind. Unlike her siblings, Poppytail had become a warrior later, so she felt embarrassed and inadequate being around another young warrior. The morning was cool and clear, the rains of the previous night refreshing the valley as the sun made its way above the mountaintops. Frozensong was out of camp early, the crisp newleaf air filling her limbs with a restless vigor. A stroll through RainClan's territory was the first thing on her agenda, to be followed by a bit of hunting so she wouldn't return to camp empty-pawed. Long white fur stirred in a gentle breeze as the large she-cat made her way through the territory. Despite her size, she moved with surprising grace, floating on her paws very much like a cloud. The wooded cove came into her sight, and she smiled slightly. The long-stranded willow trees were one of her favorite parts of her home, and she knew she could waste hours at the little stream if she let herself. With an extra bounce in her step, she picked up her pace, eager to enter the little haven. With gentle steps, she ducked into the cove, eyes widening against the shadows. Frozensong began picking her way over the roots of the trees, seeking out a space to rest and recline. With her eyes on the roots, she didn't realize she wasn't alone. Finding a spot nestled against one of the trees that looked promising, Frozensong circled twice before finally looking up. She started a little at the sight of two of the Clan's younger cats a distance away, but her alarm quickly smoothed out into a smile. Abandoning her would-be nest, the fluffy warrior bounced over to the other two. Upon approaching, she waved her tail in greeting, offering a gentle "mew" as well. After a closer look at the two she-cats, her open smile grew slightly concerned. She edged closer to the shorter-furred calico, head lowered and eyes wide. "Meow?" she asked, concern lacing into her voice. 'Are you okay?'--------------------- @lackadaisy, KARAZHAL"I speak." 'I think.' I am.

It was RainClan territory, so of course there would be RainClan warriors about. This didn't surprise her, even if part of her did want something more exciting to happen. She was always around her Clanmates - and she loved them dearly - but often she'd be drifting away on patrols or wandering around by herself. Hoping to catch sight of another Clan's cat or even a loner. Sometimes, Sedgenose was bored of her daily routine. There had to be some excitement out there, somewhere. RainClan was doing well, prospering in a civil war's aftermath that she never really got caught up in.
In essence, she was looking for something fun to shoo away the dulling creep. It didn't have to be a fight or small dispute. "Oh" she uttered simply at first, her eyes focusing on the younger she-cat. Her voice was whimsical and dreamy, as if being woken up from a long nap. It was like a long sigh. "hello, Poppytail" the other warrior apologized for intruding, causing the long haired she-cat to chuckle and shake her head. "no. No, I was just done here." her eyes shifting to the squirrel's body below her paws. Yet, before she could even speak further, another cat came from seemingly out of nowhere.
Frozensong, if Sedgenose recalled correctly. Sometimes the clan was so big, she failed to recall all the names. The amber smoke could not say she had ever spoken to Frozensong for more than a few seconds, however. The new female would immediately approach Poppytail, her vocals laced in a sympathetic concern. Was something going on, something that Sedgenose did not know about? She mentally checked over the other she-cat, finding her physically fine. But she also knew the mind was a terrible thing. "Frozensong thinks something is wrong" she proclaimed softly "did a meeting happen when I wasn't there at camp? Or...?" she leaned forward, allowing Poppytail to explain if something was indeed wrong. Or... if she did not want to, Sedgenose was giving her an out.

Poppytail's body jolted slightly as a fluffy walking cloud descended right next to her. Frozensong may have been the deaf one, but Poppytail hadn't been looking in her direction and her approach took Poppytail by surprise. "Oh! Frozensong, hello!" The white calico chirrupped and nodded her chin in greeting to her clanmates. Her brindled tail lifted up at Frozensong's arrival.
Her head swiveled back at Sedgenose's question. "Um..." Poppytail shifted uneasily. A meeting? "Not exactly." She paused before letting out a low exhale. "Someone..."--another pause, and she pressed her lips together, swallowing audibly--"Um, my... dad died." She felt awkward saying this even though Frozensong had shown concern and interest in her wellbeing. "I came out here to get away from camp. Go for a walk." She shrugged half-heartedly and she leaned down to the tiny bell-shaped blossoms hanging nearby. She nudged them in Frozensong's direction to encourage her to take a whiff. "Smell the new flowers. I don't know..." She trailed off.
Poppytail leaned to the side to sink against Frozensong's soft pelt and give it a gentle lick to reassure Frozensong that she would be okay, even if she didn't feel like it right now. It would be a lot to explain about her brother. Maybe the two she-cats could help her mind get off her problems. It was newleaf, and fresh rain brought beautiful weather and greenery back to the valley. Poppytail wondered if she'd feel better getting lost in the wildflowers. Pale green eyes scanned over the calico she-cat next to her. Physically, she seemed fine, but ages of silence had taught Frozensong to read deeper into the body languages of the cats around her. Lowered tail, lowered eyes, and a general air of sadness hung about Poppytail. Her gaze flicked to Sedgenose; she seemed to be picking up on what the older warrior sensed. Poppytail meowed, and Frozensong watched her intently, seeing how difficult it was for her to get the words out. Her heart went out to the younger she-cat. As flowers were pushed in her direction, the white she-cat leaned down to sniff them, purring at the sweet scent. Then there was a weight against her, and Frozensong shifted slightly to better take Poppytail's weight against her. Out of reflex, Frozensong turned to groom the younger cat, rasping her tongue gently over the calico fur. She began purring, loudly, hoping to further soothe the other she-cat. She didn't know what was wrong, and there wasn't really a way for her to find out, but there was one thing she did know. Poppytail needed comfort, and Frozensong was more than willing to offer her as much comfort as she possibly could. It was one of the things she was best at. --------------------- @lackadaisy, KARAZHALIt is little and took forever and I'm sorry, but here it is."I speak." 'I think.' I am.

The small, sensitive she-cat wanted to just feel better already. She wanted the weight in her chest to grow legs and crawl off her, but sadness clung to Poppytail like a fistful of burrs. Perhaps what made it so poignant was that her father had died before her mother, and yet it was Cygnetwing who was older. In fact, she had moved to the Elder's Den that season; Poppytail didn't know if she would last the year, although she never said it aloud lest her mother drop dead at the mere mention. With these thoughts of her mother and father on her mind, Poppytail was easily lured into comfort by Frozensong's tongue across her pelt. Sniffling, she turned and gave the pure white she-cat a few licks of her own. None of her siblings except Carpleap tolerated sharing tongues with her.
Frozensong's purr startled Poppytail. She jolted, pressing against her source of comfort, and she was reminded sharply of her six moons in the nursery. That was when everything had been the most normal in Poppytail's life. If only she could go back to being Poppykit forever. Giving a little brrrp? in response, the young warrior felt Frozensong's sides vibrating against her. Before she could stop herself, tears burst out of her. She squeezed her eyes shut, but the water seeped through and trickled down the corners of her eyes, causing strands of Frozensong's beautiful pelt to cling to Poppytail's face. Finally, she could cry without fear of Perchpelt happening upon her and criticizing her emotions.
Swallowing thickly, Poppytail pulled away and looked up at Frozensong's face with a grateful smile. She looked over at Sedgenose and her meal and then nudged Frozensong in the other direction. "Sorry to disturb you from your meal. Catch up with us when you're done, okay?" she told Sedgenose. Facing Frozensong, she continued, "Would you like to go see the wildflowers with me? So I don't get lost?" She took a few steps forward and then looked back to see if Frozensong had followed. TAG Amber OOC poppytail has adopted frozensong as her mom lol

She felt something drip onto her fur, and the white she-cat tilted her head to catch a glimpse of Poppytail's face. Seeing the tears falling from the younger she-cat's eyes, Frozensong gave a soft, hopefully comforting "mew", and resumed grooming Poppytail's shorter fur. Frozensong knew what it was to feel sorrow, and knew how important it was for her to just be there for Poppytail. There wasn't anything she could say, but even if she could properly communicate with her, there more than likely wasn't anything she could say to help. Presence always seemed more important. Frozensong let the young warrior cry against her, keeping up a steady purr as she smoothed down the calico pelt. She would let her have as long as she needed, in a heartbeat. Frozensong's heart ached for the younger cat, so young, yet in such pain. Suddenly, the other cat pulled away, but there was a small smile on her face. Frozensong's face softened into a gentle smile of her own. She watched as Poppytail spoke to Sedgenose, then to her. Having no idea the words spoken, she stayed put when Poppytail stepped away. When the younger cat looked back, expectantly, Frozensong perked up a little. She bounced over to the younger she-cat, and nodded pointedly to her tail. Making sure Poppytail was looking, she flicked her tail-tip twice before taking a step forward. It was her signal for "follow me", and she was hoping to teach the other cat, that way she wouldn't get left behind if they decided to go on more walks. She gave another "mew" before repeating both the gesture and the step, smiling at Poppytail and hoping she understood. --------------------- KARAZHAL Frozen has adopted Poppy too, don't worry~ ^-^"I speak." Although neither of them knew it, the two she-cats were in similar situations. Frozensong, the daughter of the most ruthless cats the Valley has ever seen. Poppytail, the daughter of a Purist returned to camp in shame. Both of them knew nothing of the legacy they'd been born into, nor did they understand the prejudice some of their clanmates held against them. They were quite lucky to find each other. Poppytail was glad she did. She didn't normally seek out Frozensong for anything. The calico she-cat was cheerful but shy and insecure; she felt like she would just be bothering anybody she talked to. Deep down, she doubted that any cat would willingly want to be around her. Therefore, it really soothed the molly's spirits to be so welcomed by cats like Sedgenose and Frozensong.
Poppytail's expression stayed soft yet timid as she waited for the deaf she-cat to follow. She brightened when Frozensong approached and nodded at her tail. Poppytail glanced to her brindled black and ginger tail then back at the other she-cat. Frozensong flicked her tail twice and walked forward, looking back expectantly just as Poppytail had done before. "Oh, is that a yes? Follow?" she asked. Although she knew well and good Frozensong couldn't hear her, Poppytail was not the type to mistreat the she-cat by blatantly refusing to talk just because she wouldn't be heard. She'd have to adjust, sure, but she felt it would be good for Frozensong to be able to read her muzzle. Poppytail bounded ahead and wagged her tail twice.
"I want you to see this. I haven't even told Fogcloud about this place," she said. She made sure Frozensong was close behind her before she dipped inside of a fallen log. The bark was soft and mulchy under her feet, smelling quite pungent with each step. Sunbeams shone through the breaks in the wood above, dappling the inner log in a cream hue. Moss and mushrooms layered the floor ahead, cushioning Poppytail's pawsteps.
She stopped in front of a spindly flower that bobbed as she passed by. Tiny bell-shaped flowers hung off the stem. Proudly, Poppytail turned around and presented it to Frozensong. "Isn't it beautiful? It's white like you!" TAG @lackadaisy OOC <3
