curiosity is not a sin...
...but we should exercise caution with our curiosity
Shadowchaser
"Shadowchaser, I found something."
The voice that beckoned him from a nap turned out to be Nettleheart's. That something turned out to be a wide-eyed kitten close to apprentice-age, with a mouth gaping open and a tail quivering with barely suppressed excitement. Shadowchaser padded forward, the curiosity evident in his voice.
"Does the 'something' have a name? Mine is Shadowchaser, Medicine Cat Apprentice of NightClan." He could tell by the noncommittal somewhat mountainy scent coming off the she-kit's dark chestnut fur that she belonged to no Clan. Or if she had, she must have been left on her own for quite some time. Nettleheart looked inconvenienced - no, embarrassed.
Shadowchaser cocked his head. Had something happened?
"I was out with Buckfur and Cricketpaw. We found her in the forest in some shrub or whatever. She hasn't eaten in who knows how long, so we brought her back for Darkstar to decide what to do with her." Nettleheart hadn't come any closer to the entrance to the den, nor had she lingered near the kit she'd all but hurled into the middle of Clan life. Is this bringing back painful memories? Shadowchaser kept these wonderings to himself, though the words burned on his tongue, eager to escape.
Nettleheart was not the type to enjoy being cross-examined, or open to the idea of a heart-to-heart with a cat who wasn't too much older than she was.
"I see," he replied, gently smiling in the kit's direction. She smells of bay leaves. "How about you fetch her something to fill her belly and I'll check her over for any ailments or discomforts? If that's alright with you, of course."
The last line was directed at the youngster, though he'd been watching Nettleheart in his peripheral vision long enough to see her disgruntled look at the errand she'd been given. Buckfur was likely talking to Rainfur or Darkstar. How are you going to treat someone entirely at your mercy, Darkstar? Shadowchaser let that question hang in his mind like cobwebs, the potential answer growing more intricate with each passing second.
He had a job to focus on, however. Provided his newest patient was willing.

Leaf-fall 1: The day is pleasant and mostly sunny, with the occasional cloud drifting across the sky.
Ghost the Undead Goddess (Buckfur mention!)
@zen (keeping Darkstar in the loop, possibly hopping in later?)
