looks
He is one of the larger cats in RainClan. This big-bodied tom has long fur that often poofs out when he's running. His tail looks as thick as a tree branch. It often appears he's wearing pants because his hindlegs have white fur up to the ankle and the brown fur is very fluffy around his butt and legs. Moosejaw is a brown tabby whose stripes are predominantly seen on the face and front legs. He has hawk-like golden eyes.
His big head has a short muzzle ending in a pink nose. A snip of white shows on his upper lip before completely flowing down his chin and throat. The rest of him is entirely brown with darker brown tabby markings. Moosejaw possesses two white socks on front and two white stockings in back. All of his pawpads are pink. Because of his long fur, Moosejaw is best suited for leaf-fall and leaf-bare conditions. He does not shy from any physical confrontation so he's covered in scars. They're more obvious on his face and his legs since his long hair overlaps everywhere else. One of his legs has a prominent section of hair missing after a beaver's teeth sheared him.

behavior
Moosejaw is a very loud brutish fellow. He's big, he's boisterous, and his fighting style can best be described as "castle". He draws attention to himself so that his heavy pelt and fighting strength can fend off attacks while allowing other Clanmates to either move in or escape unnoticed. He doesn't like dealing with anycat's nonsense. After suffering through a hellish civil war, he will immediately shut down any talk regarding exclusion of a fellow Clanmate. He becomes incredibly defensive if anyone doubts his intentions or loyalty. His quick temper can get him into trouble. He dislikes lying and is bad at keeping a secret. Thankfully, he forgives easily enough and generally doesn't hold a grudge.
While the Warrior Code specifically indicates 'kit' under protected classes, Moosejaw considers himself the defender of any weak cat and will come to the aid of any cat who can't defend themselves. While he tries to be respectful, he is protective over she-cats to the point of being condescending. He can be a little chauvinistic; he sees himself as a manly man and sometimes you gotta claw his ear and remind him of his manners.
He is goofy and playful for his age. His fur can hide many sleeping kits tired after good playtime. Moosejaw has a competitive nature that comes out when he's around friends and they're spinning tall tales. Otherwise it just pumps out his continuous energy for games and training. When he and his best bro Elkheart get together, they roughhouse a lot and enjoy running and swimming. He has a high self-esteem. He's rarely concerned about what other cats think of him unless it starts to affect his quality of life. As such, he can be oblivious to another cat's hints or flirts.

history
Moosekit and Elk-kit were the only kits who survived after many attempts of raising kits to apprentices. Their parents were large cats in their own right, and all of her litters were difficult for Horizonlight to birth. Sadly, her previous kits succumbed when a flood destroyed RainClan's camp. When Moosekit and Elk-kit were born, all of RainClan rejoiced with the queen and shared in her happiness. It was a beautiful New-leaf season.
As a pair litter, Moosekit and Elk-kit became very close and there was little that one would do without the other. Basspelt and Horizonlight decided not to try again after that. They were content and in love with their family, even if it was a small litter. The two grew quickly into apprentices, and it was difficult but necessary to separate the siblings while training them. Razorstar designated Troutfur to be Moosepaw's mentor, a stoic but caring tom in comparison with Elkpaw's extremely strict mentor. Elkpaw's mentor hated the loud obnoxious brother of her apprentice and tried to keep Elkpaw on tasks whenever she could. Moosepaw was a troublemaker who liked to chat instead of work; he distracted Elkpaw in every session they were in together.
The Leaf-bare season proved to be a harsher mentor than any cat in RainClan. Moosepaw, who'd been born in springtime, had yet to face the cruelty of winter. Greencough plagued the Clan, and his father Basspelt died from illness. The river and streams froze over and no one could catch fish, so animals in the valley starved. A hungry fox killed Razorstar, and with their leader's death came chaos. Horizonlight took her two children aside to explain things. To this day, Moosejaw doesn't know how she held it together, grieving her mate's death as well as her leader's, while still educating her apprentice-aged children. When the civil war broke up the Clan, Troutfur increased the amounts of battle practice in their lessons. There were few moments to goof around now, not with tensions flaring between cats. After his father died, Moosepaw felt he had to become strong enough to take his place and protect his mother. Moosepaw's mother believed that since the late Razorstar had chosen Timberwing as deputy, Timberwing was leader no matter the opinions of a medicine cat. She was a Loyalist and instructed Moosepaw and Elkpaw to be the same, as the Warrior Code dictated that the leader's word was law. Following the Warrior Code was imperative to being a true warrior.
Apprentice life went on, and there were fewer beds to change moss for now that the Purists had all moved out of camp. Moosepaw was huge by the time leaf-bare snows were over. His assessments coincided with the spring thaw, but his large paws and heavyset frame kept him from getting easily swept away. He even fought a young beaver for two hours with Elkpaw and they brought it down as prey for the Clan. He kept the jaw as a trophy. For that, he was named Moosejaw, warrior of RainClan. Things were serious now. He would be expected to run patrols and possibly kill cats whose names he knew. It hurt him, but he knew he had to protect RainClan and that meant obeying RainClan's rightful leader. When bodies of his clanmates started popping up, it became harder to let the Purists simply have their opinions in peace. He fought and killed when he needed to. In the midst of all the Clan's turmoil, Moosejaw at least had a sibling to rely on. Elkheart was his closest friend and confidante. They needed each other more than ever as the Clan's leadership suddenly changed. In Leaf-fall, Timberstar died and StarClan made Stormheart the new leader. Under Stormstar's leadership, some of Purists rejoined the Clan. Suddenly it was so crowded in camp again, and Moosejaw found himself constantly in arguments about prey. It was a struggle to tolerate so many "strangers" returned. Their scent hadn't changed much since they all still ate fish, but Moosejaw was a large cat used to having space to move his whole body around.
With so many cats in close quarters with each other, disease once again ripped through the Clan like wildfire. It was enough to force Stormstar to request the return of the inciter, Swanfeather, so that she could heal them, for Loyalist and Purist alike suffered. Moosejaw and Elkheart avoided even looking at the medicine cat den lest they caught the cough. The duo learned how to hunt land-prey with their mother's help despite earning the suspicions of some Clanmates in the process. What were they doing? Where were they going? RainClan had spent so much time battling itself that no one knew how to work together anymore.
Now that Stormstar's deputy has become the new leader as Silverstar and active measures have been taken toward healing, Moosejaw has high hopes for his clan's improvement.
