» Aptly named for the large shiny black corvid, this she-cat is dark as night with shine to her short fur. In the sunlight, she gains a rusty glint as her coat turns a shade of brown. She is tall and gaunt, and she possesses long, slender features for the most part. Her smooth skin and coat is interrupted only by the ropy scar along her left side. Her ears are large triangular scoops angularly set upon her head. While her sister was named for those features the whole family shares, Crowface owes her name to her narrow, wedge-shaped snout. In profile, it resembles a beak and is tipped with a shiny black nose. Her jade colored eyes are the most intense thing about her. They have some yellow around the pupil, but mostly bright green. Her ugly feet have knobbly toes ending in razor-sharp claws. Her fur is especially short on her legs and paws; it makes Leaf-bare the worst season for her because of how cold she gets. Crowface's body ends in a long, skinny tail. She has a thin physique that allows her to crawl through the warrens. She can run as fast as a rabbit and relies on her pounce in a fight. She'll use her dead weight to stun an enemy, dig her claws in, and bite. Crowface can easily be mistaken for a mouth-breather. She often performs the Flehmen response, but beyond that, she's never fully dressed without a smile--a toothy one.

» Crowface has always had a lot of energy. She needs constant enrichment in her life and would never be content in kittypet slavery. As Crowpaw, this manifested in the apprentice's domineering arrogance. She acted like she ran everything. If there was something going on, she was first in line. (Now whether it got
finished was a different story; Crowpaw was a flake.) Now that she has a warrior's freedoms, she's simply the ever-ambitious go-getter. Her energy seems to spring up from nowhere.
Any apprentice of hers will have tough training. Crowface puts herself through PT each morning before breakfast. Trust that any apprentice she's given will be put through the same. She is a taskmaster. Even full-grown warriors are not spared from her cutting remarks if they screw up. To her, warriors must not be called "warriors" because they've reached a certain moon, but because they are soldiers who can take anything thrown at them. A cat who flinches at her voice will flinch in combat. An apprentice who cannot learn to perform under pressure will fail when the stakes actually mean something. A weepy coward who cannot get with the program will let her clanmates down and get somecat killed, and that feeling will be worse than crying in your soft nest after Crowface just bellowed at you. Living the life as a clan warrior should be physically demanding.
If you're in need of some motivation or new ideas, Crowface's impulsive nature might help you. The moment she has an idea in her head, she'll try it. Even when there's no hope in trying, Crowface will get in your face and say IT CAN BE DONE. She doesn't shy away from anything, especially failure. As much as her parents tried to tame it, Crowface's temper and pride makes it difficult for her to soften up. She is someone who has to have the last word. She'll shove whatever she has to say down your throat without question. (Hopefully one of her friends can drag her back before she gets into a fight.) Crowface has a grudge-holding side to her. If you've wronged her in some way, don't expect to get off easy. She'll tear your pelt off! Her impulsive side usually makes her see red no matter the situation. She might not give you a chance to explain yourself...
She's a cat known for keeping her promises and holding to her word. Although she doesn't give up easily, she also knows when she's lost, that sometimes it's worth cutting one's losses early, but doing this is less likely the more power she holds, if her heated ego gets in the way. While she isn't the compassionate sort, she's a cat to call if you want a job done. If her leader says "do this, no questions asked", she'll do it.
Crowface is quite independent and hates being in someone's debt. She isn't the sort to allow others to get to know everything about her. She doesn't like to bare open her heart in ways that would allow someone to take advantage of her. On the other hand, she has a cold curiosity and will root for details on
others, just to have something to hold over them. If it means committing bribery or torture to get answers from another clan, Crowface would do it. She approaches even the most base of tasks as if they were military commands. She is determined to serve LightningClan wholeheartedly, irrespective of what form it takes, and believes in the Leader's law. It is everyone's duty, including her own, to obey the Clan Leader's orders without question. Even if she may not agree with her leader, such things can be set aside for the sake of LightningClan and Crowface's own ambition.
Unless she's concentrating hard on something or in a bad mood, you'll usually see some kind of smile on her face, whether it's a toothy smirk or a roguish grin. She's unafraid to throw herself headfirst into a fight no matter who it's against. Recklessness is her best friend. Don't expect her to just sit on the sidelines while you go off and act like an idiot. No way, she'll want to be there beside you getting into trouble or getting your tail out of trouble. She might get hurt, but she won't regret it in the end. Making stuff happen is what it's all about. Don't even think about arguing with her. In a bad situation, she'll think of her options first before anyone else. Given her competitive nature, it can be difficult for others to tolerate her style. A moment of arrogance probably even cost her a mentoring opportunity.

» Like others in LightningClan's long lore, Blackear and Darkdove fell in love and produced a litter of kittens. Crowkit struggled under her mother's warm, reassuring tongue, where she was nested in a safe nursery. She was a strong neonate, and she crawled over the weaker members of the litter to get to the milk. In a way, her siblings were her rivals; it felt like a constant competition for a teat. But the kits soon got the hang of things and no longer had to scramble and shove. Her mother, Darkdove, reined in her precocious kits with lessons about respect and politeness. She and her mate were both known as well-mannered warriors, and together they raised their kits under the Warrior Code, to be noble, dignified members of LightningClan. Crowkit and her siblings lived a normal kithood and at six moons of age, the three of them were apprenticed under other warriors. Her sister was called first, ceremoniously named Batpaw, and then touched noses with her mentor Snakefang. Next up was Crowkit. Firestar officially named her Crowpaw, to be mentored by the amiable Briartail.
Apprentice life accelerated Crowpaw's ambitious nature, and her propensity for rivalry caused her to dissociate with her siblings. She cared only about her own progression. She ordered weaker apprentices to do her chores for her while she pestered Briartail for lessons. Her mentor encouraged her to find things to do for herself instead of intruding on Briartail's personal life all the time. However, like most bored children, she complained to herself that there was nothing to do. She laid around and watched. Watched cats going by, watched birds flying, watched the sun dapple the moors. Crowpaw was a very clever apprentice; she learned a lot from simply watching LightningClan warriors and most importantly, the prey they hunted. She found she learned more about prey by watching them then just being in Briartail's lessons. A gross fact she found out was that most of the prey the clan hunted ate their own
dirt, which is why she could smell cat borders during a Patrol Lesson but not any rodent or lagomorph borders. Crowpaw preferred hunting birds from there on out.
Crowpaw spent a lot of time scuffling with other apprentices, whether they were older than her or not. She didn't have a specific type to pick on. She was just plain arrogant, and others loved to try putting her in her place during their group Fighting Lessons. She gave just as good as she got. Through the sheer power of gambling, Crowpaw and the other apprentices reached an accord. Fighting out all that excess energy apparently worked. Crowpaw still bossed others around, but she did so while starting on the chore instead of leaving some lonerborn mark to do her work. She hated anyone doubting her word. (Of course, these started off as "threats" but she wanted "promises" to be just as important). Overall, she went through a lot of growth as an apprentice.
The attack on her sister came as a complete shock to Crowpaw when she found out. It irritated Crowpaw that the warrior Snakefang had slipped past her scrutiny. If she'd been closer with Batpaw, she might have been confided in. However, it was no mistake; Snakefang purposefully made herself scarce from Crowpaw, for she'd hated all of Blackear's kits. After she heard Snakefang was chased off, much of the clan's talk became about how ghastly her treachery was. Crowpaw dutifully came with her family to see Batpaw afterward, to make sure she was okay. She said some performative comments, but deep down, she really didn't know how to comfort her sister. Instead, she just told Batpaw she'd see her back in the apprentice's den and loped off. She did wonder why her sister got their father to be her mentor for the remainder of her apprenticeship, but since he didn't treat her different, Crowpaw didn't raise a fuss. She had her own assessments to worry about anyway; if her dad was going to take it easy on Batpaw, then it'd be their own fault if she didn't do as well.
Upon the day of her warrior's ceremony, she was renamed Crowface, and from that point on, she could freely travel across the territory, no warren escort needed. She kept up training despite no longer being an apprentice. She lived for the physical exertion and pressure driving her to become a better warrior. When she was twenty-eight moons, the clans were attacked by foxes during the Gathering. Five red brutes tore through the cats, killing Jayswoop outright and Thrushwhisker later. Crowface posed herself in front of the apprentices to protect them, earning the scar on her left side in the process. Life in the clan remained steady after that. LightningClan was strong and expanded territory as needed. Crowface wondered if any battles were yet to come. Perhaps the biggest change of her life happened last season when Redscar, the cat she'd known as deputy all her life, became the new leader of the Clan. In any battles to come, Crowface will fearlessly face them all.
