Really? Had he really been chosen for a gathering already? It seemed like just yesterday they had received their apprentice names and then boom, to the gathering him and Cricketpaw went. He felt proud and honored that Darkstar felt they were ready to mingle with the other clans this night. The only part that made him slightly nervous was not having Brindlemask to help him figure out what cats belonged to where. He was sure that she had probably been to a gathering or two already. So she would know better than him how the whole event went and what to pay attention to. Even with her quiet disposition, he expected that she at least picked up on some things. Perhaps if he stayed close to Nettleheart and Cricketpaw, the older she-cat would help him in Brindlemask's place.
The young tom breathed deeply, taking in the cool night air to ready himself for the trek to Starclan's Claws. Once Darkstar joined the group, they quickly set out. Nightclan might be many things but late was not among them. So he made sure to try and keep only a few strides away from the higher ranked cats at the front of the bunch. He was so eager to get there that he didn't pay any attention to where his sister was in the bunch. He more or less just assumed she was among them somewhere.
When the group finally reached Starclan's Claws they were all covered in mud. While the flood waters had receded enough to return to camp, the land still had not dried yet. The fluffy fur on Hawkpaw's side were now totally caked to his body from the thick stuff. He wrinkled his nose at the feeling of it all. Being as fluffy as the tom was, walking with all this gunk on him weighed him down and quite honestly made him look like he had been rolling in fox dung. Just the way he wanted to look for his first gathering.....not. He grumbled, not noticing the others already dispersing among the crowd of cats until the last second. The tom blinked, looking away from his pelt to look over the throng of cats ahead of him. The mix of different smells here was almost overwhelming. Each clan had their own scent to them but in this case, it was hard to distinguish any certain ones. He thought about where to even try and sit for a moment before remembering his sister would also be here. Amber eyes turned to where the group had just emerged, hoping to spot her but she must have slipped past him while he worried about his fur. He narrowed his eyes before approaching the gathering of other cats, looking out for the black and white fur of his sister.

6 moons | She-cat | Nightclan Getting picked to go to the Gathering so soon after becoming an Apprentice normally would have been an exciting event for any new Apprentice. But the thought of meeting cats from all the other clans wasn’t an enjoyable thought for all cats. Ears pinned back against her head and tail slightly quivering behind her, the small black and white she-cat joined the rest of the cats that had been chosen to go to the meeting of the clans. She had looked back towards her mother, who watched two of her kits head off to their first gathering, with a look of fear. Yet her mother didn’t seem to be scared at all. She was thrilled, as any mother would be. But that didn’t help Cricket at all.
Her plan in all of this was to stay as close to Nettleheart and Hawkpaw, mainly Hawkpaw, as she could. But this plan was almost immediately ruined. Not too long after their departure, her brother disappeared among her clanmates. A feeling of fear creeped underneath her skin quickly as she found herself being surrounded by cats that were twice her size. They were her clanmates, but they were intimidating even when not around other clan cats.
Arriving to Starclan’s claws only made this fear grow stronger as they emerged into the clearing. There were so many cats...so many cats that were bigger than her, stronger than her, and were from some other part of the valley. As the clans all dispersed in the clearing, light brown eyes suddenly spotted that familiar brown tabby coat among the cats. But he was quickly taken out of her sight. Panic started to set in as her pace quickened, looking around frantically for him. Finally, she spotted him again, and she wouldn’t let him out of her sight. She rushed forward, bumping into a few cats as she did so, though they hopefully didn’t even feel it. She came to her brother’s side, quickly pressing against his side and leaning in close. She looked around her and felt herself growing smaller. There were so many cats…

His first gathering! Although, he wished that he could have been in tip-top shape for it. Dawnpaw had recently been healing from a near-fatal encounter with two eagles. His mentor, Kestrelclaw, had saved him just in the nick of time. However, Dawnpaw suffered some pretty tough injuries, heavy blood loss being one of them.
At first, he had been blinded for a few days and nights, but recently, his vision had been coming back, clearer and clearer each day he woke up. Despite his hind leg still giving him a lot of trouble walking, Sandblaze and Ebonypaw had given Dawnpaw the go-ahead to go to the Gathering. After regaining his vision, Dawnpaw had found that he was actually pretty proud of his big scar. The walking would come eventually.
For now, he was here to have fun! Smell the other cats, make some friends, and -- oof! A cat bumped into Dawnpaw on his bad side, causing him to wince in pain. Angling his head towards the she-cat who had accidentally caused him pain, the friendly apprentice decided to pursue her. "C'mon Paintedpaw, let's make friends!"
Just like that, he limped on after the she-cat, noticing that she was heading towards another tom. They both reeked of trees and scales. They must be Nightclan, how cool! As best as he could, Dawnpaw padded over to the two Nightclan cats. "Hi," he started. "I'm Dawnpaw, and this is Paintedpaw. You guys smell so cool! How fun is it to stay awake all night and sleep at day?" Despite his leg limiting his physical movement, Dawnpaw's bouncing personality made up for it.

Paintedpaw 6 Moons - Stoneclan Apprentice
The multicolored feline kept close to her brother as the group of Stoneclanners made their way to the Gathering site, the shadows licking at their pelts while the full moon shimmered brightly above their heads. Her expression was the same as always, green pools dull with lack of interest, though there was the constant subtle glances in the direction of her tabby pelted littermate as he limped along with a bright smile upon his face.
Nothing could ever dampen his spirit, not even the fact that an eagle nearly carried him off for dinner.
The more pessimistic of the two merely flicked her feathered tail, the thrill of excitement lost upon her as she made her way to her first gathering. The tortoiseshell feline did, however, rather enjoy the cooling factor of nighttime, the hot sun no longer baring down upon her and her long coat. She always did wish Stoneclan was nocturnal, save her the trouble of being bothered by the sunlight during the day.
Green pools narrowed as Paintedpaw took in the sight of Starclan's Claws filled to the brim with cats of different clans, all moving about each other conversing and gossiping. How annoying... It was quite loud from the chatter that rose from the crowd of cats, causing an irritated ear flicker from the dull tempered she-cat. Her attention was pulled away from the mesh of pelts and scents to her brother's happy voice and decrease of body heat as he hobbled away the best he could on three good legs.
Unable to resist the urge to roll her eyes, Paintedpaw begrudgingly made her way after Dawnpaw, not really in the mood to make new friends. She had all the ones she needing with in Stoneclan, and she could only handle the three bouncing apprentices every so often. And yet, just like always the gloomy she-cat somehow got dragged into a muddle of young cats with wide eyes and fresh paws. The two other cats, another she-cat and tom pair, looked nearly the same age as Paintedpaw and Dawnpaw, there scents reeking of mud and pine.
The multicolored she-cat's feathered tail flickered every so slightly at her brother's comments, not entirely sure 'cool' was the correct word for how they smelt... but Paintedpaw wasn't about to say what she thought. However, his next statement was something that passed through the ginger and black she-cat's mind practically on a daily basis. From a young age the Stoneclanner had found she didn't enjoy the brightness nor the heat the sun had to offer. She was almost envious of Nightclan's nightly habits.
Almost.
"I'm sure it's better than being awake while the sun is out." Paintedpaw's sacrastic response was given in that normal deadpan tone of hers. Faintly within her head she also noted the fact that there was probably less of a threat from birds of prey during the night as they too were normally day hunters. The thought of any large bird made her want to unsheathe her claws, for her brother's sake anyways.

The brown tabby scanned the cats around him, still not spotting his sister among them. Maybe she had found her mentor to stay with in the large crowd. Well, he could only hope she did. His sister was a shy cat so he could only imagine she was scared being around so many unfamiliar faces.
His thoughts were interrupted as he felt someone pressing against his side, their body shivering against him. The tom blinked and turned his head to see his sister. Thank Starclan. He could see as plain as day that the she-cat was scared out of her mind. Her body pressed hard against his side as she glanced around them. He smiled, giving her forhead a reassuring lick. "It'll be alright Cricketpaw. We shouldn't be here for too long....I hope." He meowed, glancing up at the group of leaders. As far as he knew, the leaders would make their announcements then they would leave. Well...maybe. This was his first gathering so he could only guess what went on.
The tabby glanced around them again, not finding any of their clanmates in the crowd. He did, however, spot a young cat limping towards them. It was a young tom, probably around their age or darn near close. A she-cat about his age followed behind him, her pelt that of a tortoiseshell. The smell he picked up on vaguely gave him Stoneclan vibes from the two as they got closer to them. Hawkpaw wrapped his tail around his sister to reassure her that he wasn't going anywhere as the other apprentices came up to them. The tom immediately started to babble on, introducing themselves.
"I'm Hawkpaw. This is my sister Cricketpaw." He meowed with a friendly smile back at the tabby. "And it's interesting being up at night all the time. There's different animals out and about at night." That's when the she-cat chimed in about avoiding the sun. The tom nodded in agreement. He had longer fur so the sun was a major pain in the butt for him. "Yes. It's nice not to have the sun beating down on you all the time."

As relieved as Cricketpaw was to have found her brother again, she still felt as though she were a bug compared to the cats around them. She hadn’t been around so many cats that she didn’t know before, and not all of them seemed super friendly. There were a few smaller cats that she could only assume were Apprentices, but some of them didn’t seem too open either. As a voice called behind the siblings, the black and white she-cat’s head turned to find two cats, one limping tom and a rather annoyed-looking she-cat, approaching. Had she bumped into one of them? Were they mad at her? One ear pinned back against her head as the tom spoke up, though she was surprised to find him introducing himself and the she-cat rather than snapping at her. He stated that his name was Dawnpaw and that the she-cat was Paintedpaw before he went off about how she and her brother smelled cool. He asked them what it was like to sleep all day and be out at night, which was a slightly odd question in her mind. Was Nightclan the only clan that did that? 312 Aqua

Different animals? Dawnpaw hadn't even considered that possibility. They probably didn't even slightly worry about eagles and hawks because the monsters that roamed around at night were so much scarier! Instantly, Dawnpaw looked upon the two Nightclan apprentices in awe.
"I don't know if I'm supposed to say this, but you Nightclan cats must be so brave to fight all of those night animals!" Awkwardly limping a little closer to Cricketpaw and Hawkpaw, the young tabby brandished his injured and scarred leg. "I fought an eagle, and it almost got me! I don't think I'd survive against a night eagle."
Turning to the black-and-white apprentice, who hadn't said much, Dawnpaw offered a smile. "Cricketpaw, you know I'm not mad at you for bumping into me." Looking between his moody sister and the two Nightclanners next, he shrugged in friendly manner. "We wouldn't have met you if you hadn't.... And here's a secret." Lowering his voice, Dawnpaw motioned back towards his sister."I think Paintedpaw actually likes you guys." He flicked his tail lovingly at Paintedpaw before bumping her ever so slightly. Her initial comment to them hadn't been rude, sarcastic, or moody. It was practically unheard of!

Paintedpaw 6 Moons - Stoneclan Apprentice
She didn't say anything as her brother went on about how cool he thought the other two apprentices were. In all honesty, the multicolored feline didn't really care, this socialization thing was far more likely the thing Dawnpaw and Poppypaw would thrive in. The ability to talk other cats ears off was a specialty of both her hyperactive siblings. She, on the other paw, would be pleased if she never was picked to come to another meeting of the valley cats ever again. There was just too much, her senses were definitely sensitive at the moment, as an ear flickered with faint annoyance.
She did, however, enjoy the lack of sunlight as the cool night air wafted around all those gathered.
Pale, blank green pools slowly scanned those around her as the Stoneclan apprentices attempted to find where most of her clanmates had wandered too. Smokestorm stood with a group of cats that the tortoiseshell feline could only guess were the other deputies of the clans, and Hawkstar stood proud and strong atop the rock with the other leaders. Ever young cat and apprentice can hardly wait to come to their first gathering, to greet other clans and mingle with cats their own age who walk a different path in a different clan, but she just couldn't see the appeal too it.
Her attention was pulled away from observations as her brother tried to mockingly whisper before butting her shoulder with his head affectionately, which earned his a flicker of her feathered tail. "There is no need to be rude without a reason." She said in a monotoned voice, though in all honesty she didn't care if either of the two Nightclan apprentices thought she was rude. She was merely blunt and told the truth, even if it was painful or depressing. It happened when one was a pessimistic cat, as she was. It was why Dawnpaw was so good at counteracting and balancing her out, with his over joyous optimism.
Her mentor, Cicadasong, was like that too. Perhaps it was why she got along fairly well with the older she-cat.
"Besides." Paintedpaw continued with a sweep of her plume tail, wrapping it around her flat paws as she lowered her haunches to get more comfortable. She had a feeling the gathering would start soon a the leaders seemed to be getting a bit restless as the seconds started ticking by. Those pale pools of hers briefly flickered over the black and white form of Cricketpaw, sticking close to the large tabby form of her brother Hawkpaw before returning to her own brother as he practically bounced on his paws besides her. His energy boundless. "I only followed you over here to make sure you didn't do anything birdbrained to re-injure yourself."
It was perhaps a little harsh, but there was a dry sarcasm within her blank tone that she knew Dawnpaw would pick up. She loved her brother, it just was shown in an unusual way, and her dry temperament and dreary personality didn't aid it, but at least Dawnpaw understood. Honestly, that was one of the only things Paintedpaw truly cared about.
