Lilyfrost
It was a nice morning as Lilyfrost entered the elder's den as she did so each day to bring her mother whatever lizard she had managed to catch that morning, they were Rainsong's favorite and the matriarch was getting to old to hunt for herself anymore, her health had deteriorated in these last few moons, Rainsong put on a brave face but Lilyfrost knew, she was getting old, her movements not as fluid, even Lilyfrost herself was a senior warrior now and that was a painful reminder to her mother at just how old she really was.
Lilyfrost could sense something was wrong long before she found her mother's nest. All the other elders just looked at her sadly, even cats who were disgusted with her father seemed to pity her today and Lilyfrost's heart sank in her chest as she approached her mother's speckled grey and silver coat, curled up in her nest. It was at that moment that she realised how still her mother was and as she pressed her nose to nudge her awake, Lilyfrost recoiled in shock at how cold the grey elder was.
" No.. no no.. Mum" she whispered in shock, nudging her mother again. No response, Lilyfrost dropped the lizard she was holding and layed beside her mother. " I am so sorry mum, I should have stayed here last night, when you asked me to" she mutttered sadly, burying her face in her mother's soft fur. Rainsong was gone, she had joined her mate amung the stars and while she assumed Blackwolf would have already known about Rainsong's death, she was now faced with telling her own family, her kits, mate and brothers that the one thing that kept them together, at times where they all wanted to give up on family, was dead.
After a few precious seconds, Lilyfrost rose shakily to her paws, nodding as an elder asked her if she needed help moving Rainsong's body outside to be buried. Lilyfrost could barely remember the elder's gathering around Rainsong, working together to carry their commrade out into the world. Where her body could be buried and her soul released to be with her mate in Starclan, that was if Thorntail even made it to Starclan. However Rainsong could not accept her mate not being there and Lilyfrost hoped it was true, at least for her mother's sake.
After all Crowstrike had drowned and made it there and even Lilyfrost knew that despite the loyality she felt to her family, her brothers were not always the nicest of cats. Bonetail was even afraid of them when he first found out of their kits, scared of her siblings reaction. Lilyfrost still didn't really know what her brothers thought about in her choice of mate. It was clear than not many cats liked him, even his own sister had told Lilyfrost that she deserved better in a mate.
Except that did not matter to the warrioress, whatever his faults as a warrior he was a good father and e did love her, in his own way. Lilyfrost entered the warriors den and headed straight for the nest she shared with Bonetail, nudging him awake with her tail. " Bonetail, get up, it's my mother" she mused softly, her voice crackled with greif and loss, she remembered seeing Bonetail like this after Ghostflight's death and made a mental note, like Ghostpaw had been named after his paternal grandmother, there was gonna be a Rainkit in the future.
