Description: Unlike most Cave-guards, Stag starts his youth as small and lanky. He darts around with his littermates and seems to be the fastest out of the group. Yet as the moons change and he grows, Stag doubles in size and gains an impressive amount of muscle mass. His pelt smooths over his large and imposing frame with ease. The dark brown coloring shared with his father makes it difficult for him to blend into anything that isn't mud covered. His new gained strength take some time mastering but with his cave-guard training, Stag proves himself a force to reckon with. Able to topple larger cats because of his natural inclination for agility, Stag is a strong example of a proper blending of cave-guard and prey-hunter attributes. However, one of his major flaws is his lack of stamina. Stag can't and never will be able to hold his own for extended periods of time. Suited for quick in and out missions, Stag will learn the lesson of stamina the hard way. Pushing himself to try and be better, making room for the frustration to fester, Stag does his best.
One Line Description: A sturdy brown colored tom with green eyes.
Personality: Growing up knowing that the queen who nursed him wasn't his mom created a great deal of confusion for him early on. Sunshine carried him but Light has nursed and cared for him, the longing for his birth mom is strong making him feel guilty for wanting to know her better than Light. All his memories have been made with his adoptive family and living father. Shaped by the knowledge of his true mother, Stag has become more determined than his adoptive litter mates to prove his worth. He wants to be a son that everyone could be proud of. He wants his mother to sing his praise from her place in The Tribe of Endless Hunting. He craves knowledge of her and often asks his tribemates about her. Most will offer him a story or a retelling of one he has already heard. He is never bored when it comes to learning about his birth mom. His devotion to his mother has created a special bond with her, in times of stress or general emotional turmoil, Stag can be seen talking to her and asking for help when he thinks he is alone.
With his living family, Stag has shown tremendous amounts of devotion and love for them. They are placed in a different part of his heart compared to his mother. He values their lives above his own and will do all that he can to ensure their happiness. Around Branch, Light, and Osprey, he is attentive and curious, asking for their advice. Captivated by their stories of the journey, Stag is often pestering for them to tell him all they can remember. In the early moons, it is considered sweet his curiosity is endearing and the way he goes about asking for a story is charming. However, his parents will make it clear as he grows that some memories are too painful to remember and he must be respectful of that. Stag gradually becomes more sensitive to those around him and does his best to gauge how to interact with them.
His relationship with Rock, Song, and Eagle is complicated. He loves Rock and attempts to encourage his adoptive brother to the best of his ability. Song is paid little mind to, disagreeing with her poor treatment of Rock. Eagle remains a puzzle to him, neither a strong connection or a weak one. He prefers Rock's company but will not deny sibling time with all three. Stag attempts to please everyone and often stretches himself too thin. Not that he'd ever complain, he just wants to be the best Stag he can be.
Aside from his relationship to his family, Stag has created another place within his heart, a place for the tribe as a whole. He values the teachings of the Tribe and believes the Tribe way is the right way. Staying true to his upbringing, Stag does not believe in war and will only attack an enemy to protect the tribe and never out of cruelty or personal gain. He struggles to understand why the Clans go to war and fear that one day the Clans will turn their claws toward the tribe. His faith in the Tribe of Endless Hunting is strong and he trusts Skyteller will take care of the Tribe to the best of his ability.
History:
Alongside Light of Rising Sun was Sunshine between Tree Leaves, another pregnant queen. Older compared to Light, Sunshine struggled with the journey but her faithful mate, Branch encouraged her to keep walking. There were times during the journey that Sunshine believed herself too weak to carry on but the love for her son and devotion from her mate kept her going. She carried herself on shaky paws to the tribe's new home and promptly fell to the ground. Sunshine bore her small tom into the world as the light crested over the mountain. She lived long enough to name him before passing away. Branch was heartbroken but had no time to grieve. By the blessing of the Tribe of Endless Hunting, Light went labor shortly after and was able to adopt Stag into her litter. Branch insisted from the start that Stag knew his true mother and how much she loved him that she gave her life for her to make it to a new home, a new start.
Stag being blind and deaf only knew the comfort of his mother's fur for a few hours before being placed with Light. The unspoken longing in his heart is blamed on those few moments spent beside her body. He cherishes that distant, fuzzy memory more then he'd ever care to admit. Moving further away from his difficult birth, Stag wishes to find his place in the tribe to make his family proud.
