CROWPAWCrowpaw waited in the middle of the camp, bouncing paw to paw in a show of impatience and eagerness. Thornscar had told her to wait here, telling her that they would be going on a patrol. Not the first time, but apparently, familiarizing herself with NightClan's boundaries was a good thing. So she was waiting, glancing around for her mentor, wondering what was taking her so long.
The night's chill hung around her, but the camp was active. Unlike the rest of the Clans, NightClan did their patrolling and hunting at night, and the camp was wide awake. Moonlight shone through the trees, glinting off the snow that coated the ground. Supposedly, this leafbare was more mild than usual, and it made Crowpaw wonder what a not mild leafbare was like.
Honestly- what was Thornscar doing? Moonlight was wasting and she was just sitting here. Stupid rule that she couldn't go out alone. Spinning to face the warriors' den, the young apprentice bounded toward it, intending to find out what her mentor was up to, only to skid to a graceless halt as the warrior emerged, followed by two others. Tail lifting, Crowpaw gave the tiniest bounce. "Are we going?" she called, perhaps a bit too loudly, judging by the glances cast her way. She ignored them as she added, "I'm ready!" watch me, i'll make a name for myself williams

Thornscar 15 Moons, NightClan Warrior, She-Cat Thornscar wasn't expecting to have an apprentice so soon into her warriorhood. At first she had been confused, but elated that she got an apprentice. One step closer to being leader, she thought with a surge of ambition. Her confidence though had wavered at the sight of the young cat sitting impatiently in the center of camp. The young warrior had curled up in her nest staring out with wide eyes, knowing full well that her sisters would laugh at her behavior if they had been around. Crowpaw is more eager than you are!" they joked in her mind. You just learned this, you got this. Thornscar shook her pelt out once more, having anxiously cleaned it to shine, and followed a couple warriors out of the den.
"Are we going? I'm ready!" Crowpaw's voice was loud, excited. It startled Thorncscar into a quick response. "Keep your fur on, we'll get there." The end of her words had some humor in it, catching her deputy across the way give an amused stare in their direction. It fell a bit flat, but with her tail held high, Thornscar kept going. "The forest will be there whenever we venture out. But come, let's start with a border tour."
With a twitch of her whiskers, Thornscar led the way out of camp. Now that she was outside, out of the protection of the older warriors (who actually knew what to do), Thornscar felt her excitement grow. Confidence transferred back into her step. She could do this.

CROWPAW“Great!” Crowpaw replied, an-almost bounce lifting her onto her toes before she calmed and paced alongside her mentor. Tail in the air, the ginger tip flicking back and forth, Crowpaw followed Thornscar out of the camp and into the forest that surrounded it. Shadows shifted with the soft light of the moon, catching Crowpaw’s blue eyes with the sway- pine trees never lost their needles, even in the coldest weather, unlike other types- one of the first things she had noticed and asked about. The why had gone unanswered, but it was just how it was.
“Are we going to hunt, or just round the borders?” the apprentice asked, piping up with a hopeful look at the she-cat guiding her. “If we come across something, can I try?” Wouldn’t it be great to leave something she’d caught on the fresh-kill pile for one of the elders or queens to eat? Crowpaw’s tail was flicking harder, a quiet hint to the excitement building within her, and she scampered a few steps ahead before pausing and glancing back at Thornscar again.

Thornscar 15 Moons, NightClan Warrior, She-Cat It took all of Thornscar's effort to not bounce alongside Crowpaw as they got into the forest. There was something catching about the young she-cats energy. It was new, it was exciting, and it wasn't coming from one of her sisters. Through-out their entire apprenticeship, the trio had stuck together. They trained together as often as they could and became a unit. This was something different though, out on her own with an unfamiliar presence intent on becoming her shadow. Or intent on getting through the day's lesson at least, Thornscar thought as Crowpaw bounded ahead and asked about hunting.
"Well," She began, flicking her ears. "We're out to learn about the territory, not hunt. But. If something were to cross our paths, it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.". There, that sounded reasonable. They had a task, and they were going to stick to it, but skills needed to be developed nonetheless.

CROWPAWWell, it wasn’t exactly a ‘yes’, but then, it wasn’t a hard ‘no’ either. Crowpaw could accept that- and hope that something did cross their path so that she could have a chance to hunt it. “Great!” Crowpaw repeated, pausing just for a few heartbeats to scent the air in hopes of smelling some prey creature close by. Nothing came to her, though, and she scurried forward again, catching up to Thornscar and once more walking at the older she-cat’s side.
“Where to first?” she asked, flicking a glance at her mentor. “The Deer Trail?” Stupid TreeClan had stolen that from them, but NightClan still patrolled there- no TreeClan cat would be out at night, all of them curled up like squirrels in their nests, and Crowpaw didn’t understand why Foxstar was waiting so long to take back what was theirs. “If it comes to a fight,” Crowpaw piped up again, her tail flicking in excitement, “Can I be in it with you?”
Brushing aside the fact that she had not yet had any battle training, cocky-confident that she could take on any cat, looking forward to a fight where she could prove her loyalty to NightClan- and trounce a few TreeClan cats at the same time. “I’ll make them sorry they ever set paw on our land!”

Thornscar 15 Moons, NightClan Warrior, She-Cat Her response seemed to satisfy the younger she-cat, and Thornscar felt pride swell in her chest. Maybe she could do this! As Crowpaw scampered forwrd, Thornscar threw out a helpful bit of advice, not wanting to deter her apprentice's excitement. "Shuffle your paws more, it mimics the ambient sounds of our territory more than picking your paws up."
She watched for a moment, tail flicking with interest. They couldn't wander aimlessly, as fun as it was to enjoy the nature of their lands. “Where to first? The Deer Trail?” Thornscar hummed at Crowpaw's questioning, glad they were on the same track. The Deer Trail could be an interesting place to go, to learn about clan relations. “If it comes to a fight, can I be in it with you? I’ll make them sorry they ever set paw on our land!” "No," Thornscar stuck her tail out, stopping the pair. Eyes rounded on Crowpaw, pinning her down with the feriocity the tortiseshell sisters were known for. "We are not starting a fight, no matter what we think of Treeclan. There's only two of us, and you haven't had training yet. It would be foolish to try and fight, understand?"

CROWPAWShuffle? Crowpaw paused in her tracks, glancing down at her mentor’s paws and watching her paces a moment before moving again, carefully mimicking the way Thornscar lifted and set down her feet. It was more of a gliding stride, not the heavy stomping that she’d been doing, and it minimized the sound of her steps. Perfect.
Her question, however, seemed to prick a nerve, and Crowpaw jerked to a halt, flashing a curious gaze at the warrior; her tail gave a hint of a nervous flick. Well, okay, she hadn’t meant to irritate Thornscar- it had just been a question. She was going to have to fight sometime. “Yes, Thornscar,” she replied all the same, remaining unbothered as she lifted her head and tail. “But I wasn’t talking about today. I meant whenever Foxstar decides to take the Deer Trail back.”
Surely she would soon? It was NightClan’s, not TreeClan’s, and though the other Clan could use it for the duration of leafbare, it was foolish to not at least try to take it back once newleaf arrived. “You’ll teach me battle moves soon, right? Blackwolf taught me the crouch when i was still a kit.” A purr of amusement for the way she’d used it- too bad, really, that her father had heard her coming before she could pounce on him.

Thornscar 15 Moons, NightClan Warrior, She-Cat Thornscar was pleased to see her words worked for the steps, but mentally backpedaled with Crowpaw's reaction to the next part. Of course the young she-cat meant some time in the future, of course. She was eager, as they all were, to get their land back. If my sisters and I had been there, we wouldn't have lost it. The warrior felt her ambition surge up, flicking her tail at the thought. Barely a breath had passed between Crowpaw asking for future training and this internal struggle and Thornscar let it slide off her back. She would have to confront it later, maybe talk with her mother or even with Shadowchaser on how to handle younger cats nicely. She didn't want to snap, rather ensure Crowpaw grew up to be a full warrior.
"Of course you'll get training soon," Thornscar said, giving Crowpaw a warm smile. "We'll take what Blackwolf showed you and teach you even more. Many of the skills can be used in other aspects, like hunting or patrolling. This type of walking for example keeps us hidden from prey until its too late, but it'll also trick warriors from other clans because they're not used to this sort of undergrowth." The excitement was bad in her voice, ready to share what she could with the younger she-cat. "Now, let's finish our territory lesson, and I'll share some moves with you."
