The ginger and white form huddled in a nest in the back of the medicine cat den let out a low, singular groan. Her eyes burned, Kindleflare certain she'd not gotten enough sleep the night before. Yesterday had been... A day. It had certainly been a day. First, she'd had Mudpelt and Blazefang show up in her den. As if Blazefang's irritability wasn't enough, she'd been forced to bare witness to Mudpelt telling his brother that he would never hunt again. That he would never be a warrior again. It had left an incredible weight in her heart as she'd set off to the Gathering that night. The Gathering. StarClan above, the Gathering. She'd been emotionally exhausted going there. Having to sit through the usual goings on left her physically exhausted too. It was a StarClan given miracle that she'd made it back to camp at all. Now, her throat prickled, and she felt as though she hadn't slept at all. What was with that? If she'd wanted to feel lower than a tree's roots, she would have just forgone sleep all together. Hauling herself to her paws, she stifled a hiccuping cough and... Sat there for a moment. Amber eyes examined her white paws, clear claws flexing in and out of their sheathes as Kindleflare contented herself to do nothing. She might have continued if her shoulders hadn't ache so much. With a sigh tinged by reluctance and accented by another huffing cough, Kindleflare dragged herself to her paws completely. Heavy paws plodded toward her herbs store, pulling down a single leaf of daisy and chamomile. This might at least keep her going for a little while, at least until she could work up the appetite to eat breakfast. She just had to remember to replace the herbs she''d taken soon. Lapping up the leaves, she chewed them monotonously, heavy lidded amber eyes making their way toward the den entrance as her chest shivered beneath a stubborn cough. C-Can I just... G-Go back to bed yet?

Firestar had been unable to sleep since returning to the gathering. There was something clinging to her pelt that made her feel gross. She blamed at first on the badger wound to her side. It often caused her discomfort as she moved and having to travel to StarClan Claw's was no easy trip. The trip exhausted her healing wounds enough for the she-cat to want to seek out the medicine cat.

She had seven lives to spare but she didn't want to risk them. In order to be a good leader to LightingClan she needed to be in her best health. The wound to her side and the exhaustion that clung to her wasn't helping. She regretted going to the gathering, Redscar should have lead the clan to allow her to rest.

Exiting her den, Firestar made her way toward Kindeflare's den but paused at the fresh kill pile. She nosed around for a moment before pulling out a mouse. Even if the ginger she-cat wasn't hungry Firestar would insist she'd eat. Entering the medicine cat's den Firestar paused at the sight of the she-cat. Concern filled her eyes before she presented the mouse to the young she-cat.

"Kindleflare? Would you like to eat something? Also Could you check out my wound?" She asked before sitting down to wait for the medicine cat's attention.

Approaching pawsteps caused the bleary eyed medicine cat to start slightly, and quickly move to swallow the herbs she'd taken. As Firestar pushed into her den, Kindleflare admittedly took a moment to actually register the Clan leader's presence. Ginger ears flicked up as amber eyes went wide, her sluggish brain working to figure out why Firestar, of all cats, had shown up. Barely registering the mouse, it took Kindleflare another heartbeat or two to process what Firestar had asked her. Stifling a cough rising in her scratchy throat, the ginger and white medicine cat pushed her aching body to her paws. Mentally scolding herself for forgetting that Firestar had recently encountered a badger and had received several wounds in the process, Kindleflare nodded her head. "O-Of course, F-Firestar." She rasped, flinching at the roughness of her voice. Padding stiffly to her store of herbs, Kindleflare rummaged around for a pawful of specific herbs, taking the opportunity to clear her throat. Comfrey, d-dandelion leaves, dock, g-golden rod and c-cobwebs. She thought to herself, gathering her targets before moving awkwardly back to Firestar's side. The cobwebs were wrapped around her left fore paw, while the herbs hung in a bundle from her jaws; the awkward gait required to move hid the stiffness of her joints from view. Settling down beside Firestar, Kindleflare's attention was momentarily distracted by the mouse. "O-Oh, the mouse! Y-Yes, thank you.. I was... Going to g-get something to eat in a moment. Y-Your thoughtfulness is ap-ppreciated." She stammered, trailing off at the end and hiding her embarrassment by working the cobwebs off her paws. Turning her head away and muffling a cough with her tail, Kindleflare flinched slightly. "S-Sorry... Um... D-Dock tickled my n-nose." She offered, before focusing her amber eyes on Firestar's wound. Or... Trying. It took another moment, but eventually it came into view and she began examining it gently for any signs of new infection. "C-Can... You tell me h-how it is f-feeling, Firestar? A-Any new p-pain? Has anything ch-changed?" The last poultice appeared to have stayed correctly, though she would have preferred to wrap it for Firestar. However, the Clan leader had insisted on attending the Gathering, and thought that a wad of cobwebs would have displayed weakness. Fighting back another cough threatening to rise in her throat, Kindleflare nosed gently along the wound path, searching for any distinct temperature differences that would indicate a possible infection.
