It had taken her more time then she expected to recover from losing her life and even a longer amount of time to deal with the aftermath of the badger attack. Firestar still woke up in the middle of the tight with her heart pounding, afraid the terrible creature was barreling towards her nest. The only comfort the calico leader was able to find was spending time with her family. Her mate provided her some solace while being able to see Wildstripe eased away the tension in her chest. She would have grieved for moons if he had been lost to the creature. However, despite knowing he was safe something else ate away at Firestar.
The cries of Echopaw's mother would haunt the she-cat for countless moons. Hearing the pain in the queen's voice made Firestar press closer to her kids and embrace them quicker. She would never wish the loss of a kit on her worst enemy. Firestar prayed to StarClan each night that Echopaw was happy in their forest. Secretly Firestar had given Echopaw her warrior name, so that she may be known by it in StarClan. The now dead apprentice deserved that honor.
Pulling herself from her sorrowful thoughts, Firestar emerged from her den to only be greeted by a cold wind. Her ears flicked in annoyance to the chill. It wasn't a warm day and for the first time since leaf-bare had ended, Firestar wanted to do nothing but stay warmed up in her nest. But she had plans.
Making her way through camp the she-cat paused once she caught sight of the clan's deputy. "Redscar, walk with me, I wish to talk to you about a few things," Firestar meowed toward him, alerting him to her presence before she headed toward the camp entrance. Their walk would be out in the territory, providing them some sense of privacy.
