Hawkstar
may your dreams be larger than mountains
The broad shoulders of StoneClan's figurehead rocked as he moved forward, large paws stepping confidently over territory that had long since grown familiar to him. The Stone Stream gurgled in the distance as his patrol drew nearer to it. It had been sometime since he'd led a patrol, and it felt good, relaxing even to be moving about rather than trapped in the confines of the camp. Perhaps trapped wasn't the best of words to use... He spent much of his time in camp, because he had a lot to attend to in camp. No one was keeping him hostage or anything.
A sandy colored ear flicked at the sound of prey scurrying nearby. Had this been a hunting patrol, he'd have been far more interested in just what it was, and where it was hiding. Forcing himself to ignore the sound for the time being, he focused his attention on the search for larger pawsteps. He could clearly hear the sets that belonged to his patrol, but nothing out of the ordinary caught his interest. Pale amber eyes surveyed the surroundings as the Stone Stream finally drew into view. Shifting his trajectory just so to walk along it's bank, Hawkstar motioned for the patrol to gather briefly.
"Keep your eyes and ears open as we move along this border. Although I don't expect Stormstar or RainClan to pull anything, we mustn't let our guard down. We will reinforce the scent markers as we move, and if anyone picks up a marker out of place, speak up." His voice was heavy, weighed down by a seriousness he'd been unaware was following him. Since LightningClan had taken the Sun Stones some time ago, borders were something that made Hawkstar uneasy. He knew there were those wondering why StoneClan had yet to make its move to retake the Sun Stones.
The original plan had been to take them before Leafbare settled in. But the weather had not been kind, and Hawkstar had decided StoneClan was not prepared for a clash with LightningClan. There had been protests when Hawkstar had made the announcement, but the leader had been firm in his decision. Despite him knowing it was the right call, there were warriors who no longer saw him as fit to lead the Clan; they thought him too soft, too weak. The weight of his leadership had only increased over Leafbare's harsh moons.
Mentally shaking off any further brooding thoughts, the StoneClan leader signaled for the patrol to move forward. Reclaiming his spot at the front of the patrol, Hawkstar continued his way along the edge of the Stone Stream border.
