Do you ever want to catch me? Right now I'm feeling ignored...
Phoenix
For the first time in what felt like a lifetime to Larkfeather, the air was not thick with heat that clung to her pelt and smothered her. It was still warm, to be sure, but there was a pleasant, cool breeze that kept the air just about comfortable for once. She hadn't even complained at all when she'd been assigned to a hunting patrol earlier in the day. She had even caught two field mice to bring back for the freshkill pile. She hadn't felt the urge to chase after rabbits, however, which were much harder to catch, and so she had left them to the rest of her patrol and stuck to her mice. She had tried to catch a sparrow as well, but she had never been very good at timing her leaps when it came to catching birds and it had escaped into the sky without a scratch.
Now she was relaxing in camp, satisfied that she had fulfilled her requirements as a warrior to help provide for the Clan and resting easy in the shade as the breeze wove around her, her eyes half closed as she simply enjoyed the reprieve from the greenleaf heat that had pervaded the season thus far. She had been very young during her first and only other greenleaf, and she wasn't sure how well she remembered it, but she didn't think it had been quite this hot. Hopefully she was right and this was just some fluke, and the next greenleaf would be a bit cooler.
She glanced around after a while, feeling restless. Where were her friends? She spotted none of her usual fanclub around camp. Surely they weren't ALL out? Pushing leisurely to her paws, she sauntered over to the warrior's den to see who was inside. She spotted only a couple cats she thought had gone out on the dawn patrol, resting after their early morning. Hmph. She supposed it made sense... every cat would want to make good use of the nice day to get as much done as possible before the heat made its unwelcome return. Backing out, she turned to see just who WAS in camp currently.
Her tail twitched with annoyance; she couldn't believe all of her friends had left her in camp... not ONE had invited her out. She would have something to say about that when they returned. Perhaps she would go out and look for them, invite herself along and let them know of her displeasure at being ignored on this beautiful day. A nice day was no reason to forget her. She seethed as she deliberated her choices, indignant and... hurt.
Can you try a little harder? I'm really getting bored.
