Duskpaw's attention had been on her mother for the last two minutes as the golden warrior groomed her daughter. There was a sense of pride as the she-cat finished up, looking at each of her kits with pride.
"Now you two be on your best behavior and mind your manners, make TreeClan proud," She added with a pleasant smile, nudging her kits to go wait with the other cats for the Gathering. Dunepaw sat beside his sister, both of their tails flicking in excitement. Their first gathering and it likely to be the most memorable. Duskpaw wondered what the other Clans were like, she had heard stories from her mother but she wanted to know for herself. Would RainClan apprentices really smell like fish? Did NightClan apprentices walk around covered in mud? Do LightingClan cats really feel comfortable living out in the open? Those questions and more ran around within her head as she waited for Lionstar.
Finally the golden leader gave the command and everyone chosen to go rose up to follow after him. She didn't expect Lionstar to set such a pace and her still growing limbs had to pump extra hard to keep up, Dunepaw made it look easy. Her heart started to race with a mixture of adrenaline from the pace and the knowledge that they were getting closer. She had only wished Skypaw could have joined them, but she knew he'd go next time but she'd be sure to tell him all about it. Trying not to make it look like she was running to keep up, Duskpaw stopped once they arrived at the river.
She wasn't afraid just nervous. Dunepaw crossed the river without a problem but he was a good head taller then her. Meeting the gaze of Meadowleaf she felt a sense of confidences in the shape of a encouraging tail flick. Duskpaw leapt, not realizing how tiring it was to cross the river until she made it to the other side. Panting to catch her breath, Duskpaw caught up with the rest with time to spare and calm her heart.
There was a mixture of scents but most seemed stale, Dunepaw again found his sister's side as they entered the sacred grounds. There weren't any other Clans present which made Duskpaw only a little bummed, she wanted to have other Clan apprentices to talk to. Instead she found a nice spot to sit with a good view of the boulder where Lionstar had jumped onto, Dunepaw milled around for a moment before joining his sister.
