Her blue eyes were just narrow slits as she attempted to take a nap, but the strong growing kits within her kept her awake. Gracklefire, her mother, had told her it was a good sign. Active kits meant healthy kits but in her current state Starlingcry could use some peace. They were in a near constant state of movement, likely trying to find their own comfort. Frustrated the she-cat rose out of her nest within the darkened den that was the nursery and found herself a nice place to sit just outside.

Her de facto mate, was often busy but that didn't bother the expecting queen too much. He did his duty first to the Clan and considering his rank she didn't want to ask for more. She had grown accustom to bearing this extra weight and did not want to bother him with her complaints. If her mother had explained how much effort it was to have kits she might have reconsidered, it a miracle from StarClan that her mother carried 5 kits at once.

Sitting with her hindlegs extended to the side, laying down partially to ease the discomfort. There was a series of obvious movement that bright a twinkle to her eye and a smile." Keep growing strong little ones," She purred to them, trying not wince when one kit kicked harshly near her back.

It felt like he hadn’t slept for a moon, but his body refused to shut down. There was always something that needed to be done, or that he wanted to do, which kept him preoccupied in the moments he wasn’t with Bonepaw. Despite his ongoing list of duties, he refused to neglect his apprentice; a voice in the back of his head reminded him that the white tom wouldn’t mind a break from training, and it was that laziness, precisely, that the clan leader wanted to cease.

Finally, he had a moment to spare, and he intended to spend it with his mate. Since she had gotten pregnant, he hadn’t been as present as he would’ve liked to be, but it wasn’t because he didn’t take his role as a father seriously. When the kittens were born, he would play a big part in their upbringing, and would assist his mate in ensuring they grew into strong, capable warriors. He saw her sitting outside of the nursery, trying to relax, but he didn’t miss the soft, telling signs of discomfort in her body language. Pregnancy had made her weary, as was to be expected, and he hoped to ease her mind some if he could.

He gathered the plump body of a rabbit into his jaws, and dropped it at her paws once he was standing in front of her. He lifted his ghostly eyes to hers, searching her expression intently, before pressing his muzzle into the side of her neck in a show of affection – they had agreed to be viewed by the public as a couple, and he intended to follow through on his promise. “How are you feeling?” He was an attentive cat, and had paid close attention to his mate since she had accepted the role in order to formulate a better understanding of her mannerisms. In time, he would know her irrevocably.

The scent of her mate, drew her attention away from the growing kits within her. Public display of affection was welcomed with a deep purr from the expecting queen, her own blue eyes meeting the gaze of his ghostly ones. Her tail went on to flick back and forth at a faster rate, another side of her pleasure. It was a nice powertrip for the queen to have him openly affectiate, not that she'd tell anyone.

The scent of rabbit caught her nose second, makng her mouth water. She didn't wait despite his question, instead he ate a hefty portion of the kill before nuding the rest toward him.

"I'm feeling okay, the kits are active most of the day and night. My mother is convinced they are going to be strong kits, capable of many things,"She told him as a way to start conversation, letting out a huff when one kit kicked hard into her side.

"I'm surprised they have this much energy, but I am thankful to StarClan they seem healthy," She went on to say, leaning upward to nuzzle him again. It was a comfort to have him around even if their relationship was unconventional. He was the father of her kits and any time he spent with her and their family was welcomed.

"How have you been? You seem very busy,"
