Coyotekit wasn't awake, and he didn't want to wake up, so Rootkit was forced to want to do something else. Rootkit wandered from his nest and out of the nursery. He knew that he probably shouldn't be out, but it was mid day, and he wanted to be able to roam and be free. Which is what he was now doing, but he also had questions, questions that only a warrior could answer. Rootkit stopped once the sun hit his eyes and he flicked his tail lightly before he continued to walk outside. He looked around the camp before he started to walk over to the shade.

There was a she-cat who was always around Ghostlight and the kits, and Rootkit wanted to meet her officially. He tried to remember what the she-cat looked like, but that wasn't needed anymore, for he soon ran into a form, and he looked up to see that it was a tree. Rootkit shook his head and looked around to see if he could try and find Applewhisker.

Applewhisker lived her double life, in her mind she was a queen but in the clans' eyes she had to be a providing warrior. She knew this wasn't unfair, as she had not actually given birth to kits bringing a new generation into her clan. Even latching onto each new litter doling out love and affection to the newest clan members wasn't even close to enough to get out of her warrior duties. Her duties were dispatched quickly so as to enable her double life to continue, if she didn't effectively provide for her clan as a warrior she couldn't find the time to do so as the queen she was in her mind. The two hung in equilibrium and were forever connected giving her strength to rise from her nest everyday bursting with work ethic. Applewhisker was at the end of her warrior duties for at least a little while, having been sent on a hunting patrol returning with a frog clasped in her jaws. Making her way into Nightclan's camp her eyes slowly adjusted to the gloomy interior, she walked over to the fresh kill pile assisted not by vision but rather by her extensive knowledge of the camps layout. Depositing her addition she remembered hearing that Ravenstar considered frogs her favorite source of nutrition, she wondered if it was true and if her leader would be eating the physical representation of her effort later. Applewhisker hoped she would, as in her mind this more than justified the time she was about to spend with the kits in the nursery.
