ZEPHYRFANG
Zephyrfang had wholeheartedly (and he did mean his whole heart) committed himself to TreeClan, to the place Brokensong called home and in a society they would someday raise their offspring in. However, that didn't mean he had much respect for the other Clans. Border disputes were absurdities to him, and so were most of the rules in the well-respected 'Code of the Clans', though the idea of a gathering had appealed to Zephyrfang's more sociable nature than all of these restrictions.
That being said, it was really no surprise to see the handsome tawny-striped tom pelting over the LightningClan border and into the small wooded area that was their border marking between their Clan and his, in an intent pursuit of a hare. As he landed upon the prey animal, delivering a swift bite to the back of its neck, the sky overhead seemed to darken – hinting at an oncoming newleaf thunderstorm. Zephyrfang looked up, seemingly unconcerned with the fact that he was now standing in the tall grasses of LightningClan's moorland. He had traveled here once before, when he'd still been a loner with no attachment or obligation to anyone but himself, though the area could still be considered unfamiliar to him.
Not that he minded. Zephyrfang chuckled at the thought of a few Clancats getting their whiskers all in a knot over him being here; what was the fuss, really? As long as he didn't go to their campsite (not that he was some kind of weird kit-stealing warrior with acorns for brains), him staying here a moment to investigate the territory wouldn't be a crime.
He'd once heard of tunnels being used exclusively in LightningClan, and that was just the sort of unusual thing he'd love to check out for himself; they must be a small group of cats to take up tunneling as a hobby and a hunting tactic. And brave, too. A lot of their natural predators seemed to dwell in tunnels, and a lot of their prey did as well. He'd just have to see if that was true or not; chances were he'd run into something out here on the moorland, whether it was friend or foe or food remained to be seen.
Zephyrfang picked up the rabbit, wondering if he should bury it here or bury it on TreeClan's side of the border before anyone threw a hissy fit.

Sunstride The Brightest Flame
The ginger and white tom padded along the border, keeping himself away from Treeclan's border with Starclan's Claws, keeping his mind occupied on something to do productively for his clan. Despite the facts that his feelings where bouncing around in his chest and mind lately, his still kept up his composure and remained a very loyal and hard working warrior for his tree dwelling clan. With his brother currently in Littletimber's den for a nasty border fight with Nightclan, he took it upon himself to work a little extra to make up for the lack of paws. Not that Treeclan was lacking paws anywhere, but he also used it as an excuse to keep his nose to the ground and work.
And so, at dawn's first light, the green eyed tomcat padded from his warm next to his sister and slipped from the camp to patrol both the Nightclan and Lightningclan borders as well as catch a few squirrels or so. The wind blowing off the moors of Lightningclan caught Sunstride's attention as he continued to stride along at a leisurely pace. His head turned to look along the planes as he recognized the scent, Treeclan, but a newer scent that his clan born one. Green eyes narrowing, the proper tom moved forwards, keeping his paws on his clan's territory while staying on the border line. It wasn't long before he came to find Zephyrfang standing along the moors with a rabbit at his paws. Sunstride held back a sigh, for a tom who wanted to live a warrior life with the she-cat he was head over paws for, he wasn't trying very hard to keep to the code that she lived by.
The ginger and white tom understood that for a cat that was once a loner with no boundaries that borders where an alien though to his mind. But to any of the other clans, they wouldn't cat. They'd view Zehpyrfang as an intruding Treeclan cat who happened to steal their prey, and Treeclan already had enough trouble with Nightclan, no need to make enemies with Lightningclan as well. "Zephryfang, you might want to come back before a Lightningclan patrol catches you on their territory." Sunstride mewed, keeping his paws on his side of the invisible border that separated the two different clans.
He figured that Brokensong wouldn't be so please to find out that he'd let her mate break the rules and get attacked by some Lightningclanners. Besides, Brokensong was like a sister to Sunstride and his sibling, even Adderstrike enjoyed the mute she-cat's company and he didn't like anyone. His tail twitch as it curled over his back, green eyes watching the other tom in-front of him before he spoke once more, "Hurry and bring the rabbit with you. I'm sure Brokensong would enjoy it." He said in his calm voice, eyes void of much emotion, as he was a rather level headed tomcat.

P A L E S C R E E C H The fact that she had been watching that rabbit for the better half of ten minutes, loving how it felt to embrace being the predator in the situation, watching and calculating with the eyes of a trained hunter for the best moment to strike, had made it all the more baffling to watch as another feline came crashing through the foliage and claimed the kill for himself. She had been on the verge of approaching her fellow LightningClan cat - maybe they’d even laugh it off. They were hunting for the same Clan anyway, right? - before the distinctive scent of TreeClan wafted into her nose. Had he seriously crossed the border to hunt LightningClan’s prey?
She wasn’t one to start unnecessary conflict, though she was just stubborn enough to strut directly into the tomcat’s line of sight, eyes only landing upon his encouraging TreeClan party of one for a moment as he attempted to coax the wrongdoer to hurry up and bring LightningClan’s rabbit back onto TreeClan’s side of the border. Her ghostly pale eyes narrowed in Sunstride’s direction, displeased to see him so willing to support this behaviour. “I will be taking that, thank you.” Palescreech dug her jaw into a piece of the rabbit’s fur, unbothered by the fact that its other half was already inside of Zephyrfang’s mouth. She would politely remove it from his possession, and should either of the two TreeClanners so much as squeal in protest, they’d have another thing coming.
She wasn’t so mousebrained as to think she could easily best two TreeClan toms in a fight. They would easily be able to overpower her, and thus take the rabbit back to TreeClan with them for Brokensong, so the one still correctly placed on his side of the border said. However, one thing she had over the both of their heads was to the beloved power of manipulation. If Zephyrfang refused to give up the rabbit, then all she’d have to do was threaten to inform Redstar or Firesky of TreeClan’s prey-stealing to have their fur tightening itself into knots over the idea of a potential war. StarClan forbid they actually attack, because then they’d really be in for a war. She certainly wouldn’t mind taking a few injuries back to her camp for the sake of watching these two suffer in the long-run when LightningClan teamed up with their other unfriendly neighbours, NightClan.
She was a nice cat, really. Charming and friendly, open and honest. However, she knew how to deal with situations like this, and how to do it effectively. These two toms would hopefully recognize their mistake, give up the rabbit, and hurry on home with a stern don’t do it again. If not, then she’d have to stop being such a nice cat.
Maybe she’d been hanging around Nightstep too much.

ZEPHYRFANG
"Zephryfang, you might want to come back before a Lightningclan patrol catches you on their territory."
Recognizing Sunstride by smell before the image of the golden warrior came into focus, Zephyrfang had set down the rabbit, sporting a devil-may-care sort of grin, his words flowing out with an easy note of mischief underneath -- and enticement. "You certain you don't want to check out the tunnels before we go back, Sunstride?" He was completely expecting a no, the tawny, formerly unattached Zephyrfang assuming there was little he could do to persuade the law-abiding Sunstride to bend a few silly rules and go investigating with him.
Sunstride's unruly, grumpy brother on the other paw? Maybe. Before he had enough time to wish it was Adderstrike who'd come to 'herd' him back to their side of the border, a slender she-cat with striking pale eyes slinked forward to latch onto the rabbit - his rabbit. Zephyrfang's weight was immediately dispersed evenly throughout his body as he took a solid stance against this, refusing to release the prey he'd gone through all this trouble to catch. In his eyes was a challenge, as they locked gazes; he didn't need to hiss or raise his fur or display any kind of aggressive signs - the message was clear enough. The only way she'd get this morsel was if she pried it out of his death-locked jaws.
That being said, he didn't view her as an enemy. He had but one enemy, and it was a charcoal feline whose name he would never say unless it involved spitting; Palescreech (though he did not yet know her identity) was just another cat, like him. they were all just cats. All of this petty squabbling over territories and Clan pride seemed a bit silly to him, these clearly drawn rules and regulations that tended to put a damper on his roaming habits after a while, but he didn't necessarily want to go anywhere. He had placed his heart in TreeClan, and he had accepted the terms and conditions of being a TreeClan cat...
But still.
Some of these rules were just ... mousebrained. Zephyrfang stood his ground. She could claw and pull all she wanted, but it likely wouldn't give the LightningClanner the desired results.

Sunstride The Brightest Flame
The ginger and white tom narrowed his eyes, hoping that the new Treeclan warrior would come over the border easily, but it would not be so. Now he was faced with a question that couldn't believe had come from his clanmate's mouth. No clan cat, except perhaps Nightclan, would ever suggest trekking through an opposing clan's territory in search for secrets or landmarks. It just wasn't done and it was certainly against the Warrior Code that the tawny tom had pledged to follow with his life.
He was grateful that even his rule breaking brother understood that one rule. There was no honor in a clan cat who ignored boundaries and disrespected the rules he promised to abide by, and honor was one thing Adderstrike surely enjoyed having tagged to his name and position as a warrior.
Sunstride's green eyes flashed with a furious light momentarily before he shoo his head. "Zephyrfang, we aren't Lightninclan. Our paws don't belong on their territory, and you should never," Stressing on the word never as much as he could, "Wander on another clan's territory to look for secrets in their lands." His tail lashed behind him, he hoped that when the new tom joined that he would take these things seriously if he wished to stay with Brokensong.
"Get--" Sunstride's lecture was cut short as a Lightningclan she-cat came streaking across the moors, attempting to rip the rabbit from Zephyrfang's jaws. Now he was in for it. Sunstride could tell from the posture of the she-cat that she wasn't a mean or furious tempered she-car, but merely protecting what was rightfully hers and her clans.
"Give her the rabbit Zephyrfang. It's not Treeclan's." Sunstride mewed, his voice stern as his eyes narrowed coldly. The ginger and white tom understood Palescreech's reason to take the rabbit. It was on her territory when it was killed, making it a Lightningclan rabbit. If Zephyrfang had respected, or if he hand any respect for the code, and boundaries, he would understand it as well. And yet he didn't, so they were stuck in this situation.
"Let go of the rabbit and get over here. Now!" Sunstride was above making a sceen, but he wasn't below informing Lionstar and Brokensong about their new clan-mates behavior with Lightningclan today. The last thing Treeclan needed was for the moon abiding cats to hate them, or worse, forming an alliance with Nightclan.

P A L E S C R E E C H Wherever she pulled the rabbit, the TreeClan tom’s locked jaw wasn’t far behind. A small part of her could admire his resistance, though all it managed to do was fuel the larger part of her’s desire to make him regret it. The other tom, it seemed, had some common sense. He order the trespasser of his to let go of the rabbit and return to TreeClan’s land, and though she appreciated his intelligence, it hadn’t yet been enough to influence the current annoyance in her life. A tiny hiss vibrated in the back of her throat, threatening to build. “You should listen to that friend of yours,” she forced through her clenched teeth, “this rabbit is not TreeClan’s.”
She looked to whom was unknowingly referred to as Sunstride from the corner of her ghostly pale eyes, the warning clear in her expression: get this mess of a warrior of yours under control.
Palescreech could be equally as persistent as he was being, though it was questionable whether or not she could remain so patient when the fact of the matter was so simple. The hiss lodged in the back of her throat was moments away from exploding, full force. She didn’t want to have to actually strike at the tomcat in order to make him let go, but she’d do what she had to. She wasn’t afraid of him, and she most certainly wasn’t afraid of fighting him. Some warrior he was if he couldn’t even obey the simplest of codes. If he couldn’t hunt properly like a warrior, then she liked to assume he couldn’t fight properly like a warrior, either.
Time was ticking, and her patience was dwindling along with it. Five more seconds for him to release his hold on the rabbit and retreat back to his side of the border. Four more seconds for Sunstride to get him under control. Three more seconds for Palescreech to decide where in his throat she wanted to sink her teeth. Two more seconds for him to learn the warrior code.
One more second.
[You can pick where this goes. xD Either he lets go of the rabbit and goes back to Sunstride, or he holds onto the rabbit and you have him react to the lovely attack planned at three seconds.]

ZEPHYRFANG
This rabbit is not anyone's, it's just a rabbit!" Zephyrfang grunted back, his tone still containing that light, almost always pleasant tone but with an edge made of steel, as if he was going to have a great deal of difficulty being convinced otherwise. "Do you own the grass too? Is the sunlight on your side of the border suddenly your property?" This was entirely obnoxious; look at us, fighting over a rabbit. Zephyrfang almost snorted, but refrained from doing so at the risk of agitating the slender she-cat further - the last thing she wanted was him breathing all over her. Of course, she wouldn't be within range of his exhalations if she hadn't gone after the prey he'd went through the trouble of catching.
Loner born and loner raised, Zephyrfang instinctively did not expect support from Sunstride - it just wasn't something that crossed his mind - so he locked his jaw tighter a moment, feeling her pull hard against him, before the tawny tabby released the prey. If she wanted it so badly, she could have it. Golden eyes were lit by a fierce golden glow, his mouth curving into a smile to accompany a hard, contradicting furrow of his brow. "Wow, I had no idea this was how LightningClan conducted themselves, stealing something another cat caught. I'd heard stories of NightClan, but..." He shook his head, tongue clicking against the roof of his mouth in a 'tsk tsk' noise. "I guess the stories need a bit of retelling." Zephyrfang turned to go, realizing that the time he wasted playing tug-of-war over a rabbit could have been better spent hunting other creatures -- on TreeClan's side of the border if everyone was going to get so mousebrained about it.
It wasn't as if he'd made dirt on LightningClan's side of the forest. He'd simply been trying to feed his adopted Clan, was that really such a crime?
Apparently. Zephyrfang walked towards Sunstride, a few schemes starting to spread out like ripples behind the tabby's eyes. He'd have to do better not to get caught next time; there would definitely be another opportunity like this one, especially given the fact that prey did not know anything of borders. A mouse would not dash over TreeClan's border and breathe a sigh of relief for having cleared the danger thanks to political restrictions - the mouse would keep running, because he would keep chasing it. Zephyrfang seriously contemplated the snippy she-cat's course of action had the situation been reversed.
Maybe she'd grasp just how downright foolish this whole situation was.

Sunstride The Brightest Flame Said all I want from you is to see you tomorrow And every tomorrow, maybe you'll let me borrow your heart And is it too much to ask for every Sunday And while we're at it, throw in every other day to start
The white and ginger tom's normally calm green eyes were ablaze with an emerald fire as his clan-mate finally released the rabbit and returned back to Treeclan's side of the border. It was taking a lot of self control to keep his fur from raising and from his fangs to snap at the other tom as he let his tail lash behind him, showing some of his fury as the Lightningclanner held a smug look on her muzzle, not that he blamed her any.
Making sure Zephyrfang was past him, Sunstride turned to Palescreech and dipped his head, "Apologies." He mewed to her, his voice somehow level and unwavering as he flicked an ear before turning his back to the moors and catching up to Zephyrfang. Being only a couple moons older than tawny tomcat he felt the need to discipline him, however, this was a task for Lionstar and probably even Brokensong.
He had to learn why there were boundaries and why he was not allowed to cross them to steal prey, otherwise Treeclan was no place for him, no clan was. "Zephyrfang!" Sunstride snapped, fangs clinking together as he strode up next to the former loner. "If you want to be a warrior you need to learn to respect out code and rule." He growled, "Otherwise you will never be a cat of Treeclan." He lashed his tail, as harsh as it sounded it was true and Treeclan wasn't going to put up with Zephyrfang's behavior.
"Everything we hold valuable, everything Brokensong hold valuable, is because we respect the borders, the rules and the other clans. What you just did was highly disrespectful." He hated throwing Brokensong out there to force Zephyrfang's paws, but maybe that was the only way he was going to learn. Sunstride stormed off towards Treeclan's camp.
"Come on. We will be having a discussion with Lionstar, Thunderclaw and Brokensong." Perhaps the mute she-cat could put some sense into her mate's thick skull, if not Lionstar and Thunderclaw certainly would. And it wouldn't be friendly or pretty. The white and ginger tom slipped through the trees, his anger only rising, and a back though, is this how Adderstrike always felt?
"Lionstar!" Sunstride's yowl sounded as he shoved himself through the bushes. He was sure he startled several cats, seeing as how he was normally such a calm and highly collected tomcat, but Zephyrfang had pushed his limits with the amount of disrespect he just showed to Lightningclan, and Palescreech.
When someone cuts your heart open with a knife, now you're bleeding But I could be that guy to heal it over time And I won't stop until you believe it 'Cause baby you're worth it
