"Hurry up Burningleaf or we won't be able to see watch it." Flashbrook called out to his mate, waiting rather impatiently with his red tail flicking back and forth. He had waited through sickness and struggling with food for this moment, he wasn't going to miss it. His screwed up leg was causing him difficultly and with his pace he set from camp it wasn't a surprise it was sore and didn't want to take his weight any more which forced him to awkwardly sit down the once broken hind leg put out in front of him and his other side taking the weight as he sat.

Burningleaf had been behind him but the red tinted tom got overly excited and sprinted ahead which his leg was putting up a terrible protest, but this was important to him. For what he could guess about the change in seasons it was almost time for the fireflies to start coming out and it was important to him that he'd get to share his moment with his mate. Noticing the shape of his mate approaching, he tried to stand up and greet him but his leg protested greatly and he remained sitting. "My sun and stars." He said softly with a purr, his eyes welling up with love for his mate. He wanted to stand and nuzzle him warmly, but his leg just wouldn't let him so instead he waited with a heart full of joy and a warm welcoming look.

"Hurry up Burningleaf, or we won't be able to watch it!"

Burningleaf looked up at the red dusted form of his mate, farther ahead than he should have been. His gold eyes darkened with pain as he watched Flashbrook awkwardly lower himself to a seated position. His heart felt heavy; he loved him so much, but he felt Flashbrook's pain as though it were his own, if not moreso. The ginger and white tom swallowed down the lump in his throat and picked up the pace, jogging over to his mate's side.

"My sun and stars." Burningleaf bumped his head gently against Flashbrook's, purrs and whispered words a common but welcome thing between them. He pulled away and his gaze drifted down to Flashbrook's leg. He swallowed hard again, his expression pained. "You really shouldn't run like that. You'll only hurt yourself more." Ever since Flashbrook had come back from the mountains and his disappearance, Burningleaf had struggled to overcome his mate's injury. He would gladly have taken his place, been the one chased out, been the one to live with a broken leg, been the one to suffer the pain. But no matter how hard he hoped, wished, or prayed, what was done was done, and he had to find some way to come to cope with it.

Slowly he circled around to sit on Flashbrook's good side, settling down close and giving his shoulder to lean on. No matter how much it hurt him, he would stay by his side forever.

A small flash of light popped in the grass some distance away, and more soon followed. Burningleaf smiled and watched as the fireflies danced in the growing darkness, purring softly. It was a pretty show, made all the more magical by the cat who shared it with him.

Burningleaf's voice while carrying words that should chasten him but had little to no affect. Instead they warmed his heart because they were coming from Burningleaf's mouth. "I am full blooded LightingClan I can't walk forever." He teased back watching his mate with bright blue eyes until the tom took a sit beside him. Without hesitation the red warrior bent so he could bury his head into the shoulder of Burningleaf's fur and drank in the scent of his mate. It was moments like these that Flashbrook didn't care about all the pain he had face and would face in the future. He'd fall off a million cliffs just to bury his nose into Burningleaf's pelt and bask in the comfort that was home. His tail flicked around to touch against Burningleaf's own pelt as his purr was muffled in the other tom's pelt.

Having surrounding himself in the presence that was Burningleaf at his side, Flashbrook perked his head up just in time to see the fireflies start to emerge. He looked toward Burningleaf and met his gaze before letting out a laugh as a few of those bugs started to venture closer to him he attempted to bat a few away. It only took a few moments of sitting and trying to get the bugs did he resort to trying to stand. At first he was shaky and winced at the pain but that didn't stop him for long. Taking the time to try and will the pain into a dull ache he limped a tail length in front of Burningleaf and started to swipe a lazy paw toward the bug, enjoy the little game before looking back to Burningleaf with a playful smile. "Don't just sit there. Lets have some fun." He meowed with a warm giggle to follow.
