It was a warm day; the perfect day to laze around camp and make the most of the sunshine. But Eagleflight wouldn’t be doing that today because he had a job to do.
The tan-coloured warrior still couldn’t quite believe he’d been assigned an apprentice. Eagleflight never had been the best hunter, nor was he the most active warrior in camp. Perhaps it was to try and get him a little more engaged in clan life rather than just going on border patrols and doing nothing the rest of the time.
But whatever reason it was, Eagleflight was grateful to Fallingstar for choosing him as a mentor. Hopefully it would take his mind of his sister, far away in RainClan?
Shaking the thoughts from his mind, he padded over to the Apprentices’ Den and peered into the dim of the den, ”Moonpaw, you’d better get your butt out here or you’re going to miss out on a very important training session!” he meowed, loud enough to hopefully wake the young apprentice.
Eagleflight didn’t really know Moonpaw very well, at least not yet. He and the young white she-cat’s paths hadn’t crossed until now and all her really knew about her was that she ran away from the clan at one point or something like that. The pale brown tom couldn’t say he’d noticed her absence, but he decided not to mention that when she finally joined him outside the den.
”Ah, Moonpaw,” he meowed warmly, ”Nice to see you’ve decided to join me,” he meowed jokingly, ”Anyway, are you up for a bit of battle training?”
Others might consider it strange, Eagleflight guessed, that he had chosen their first training session to be battle training rather than hunting. The reason was mainly that Eagleflight absolutely despised hunting, but the other reason was that StoneClan’s territory was absolutely bountiful in prey at the moment, so it wasn’t like they needed as many cats as possible hunting.
Scratching casually behind his ear, he stretched out briefly before he let his amber gaze rake over Moonpaw. The white apprentice needed to be in a reasonable state if they were to do battle training today; she couldn’t be too tired or ill or anything.
Eagleflight had already eaten that morning and he didn’t really think to ask her if she had eaten, after all, if she was hungry, she would tell him, right?
