Redpaw danced around on his paws, eyeing up the sandbank, glancing behind him as he trotted up to the waters edge. No shadowy figure awaited him, not even any sign that anyone had been here before him. The sand was smooth and untouched. He's late. On my first lesson.
It was impossible to hide his disappointment. His mentor, the one who was supposed to be teaching him how to be a warrior, was no where in sight. This was nothing like what the other apprentices had told him; this was horrible.
There had been snarky comments from some, back at camp, when his mentor had been announced. "Tide? ...Good luck." He had refused to believe that even a lazy warrior could not be a bad mentor, that it must be natural for all cats to pass on their knowlege.
But no. Not for his mentor.
He sat at the edge of the water, and got lost in his thoughts as he gazed into the rippling surface. Life would be so much easier if it was as simple as water. Cool, with no colour, and able to save a dying cat. He thought about it. We are like water, in a sense. We follow our path, our leader, believing what we want about the sky and beyond. His thoughts turned bitter. At least water doesn't have a mentor.

Tideripple
I'm immature but I'll stay this way forever Until the day I die
-------------------------------
Tideripple yawn, extending his paws from his nap, his eyes drifted up to see the outline of cat. His chops slapped a few times as he tried to rid the dryness from his tongue. Slowly he rose to sit on his haunches, the cat before him eyes's narrowed. "Shouldn't you be with Redpaw? He left about an hour ago said you two were training" The cat spoke quickly to Tideripple who's eyes grew wide in shock, his totally forgot! Without giving thanks he bolted out of camp, his streamline body carried him quickly as he ran toward the sandbar.
A ping of guilt filled his belly as he hurried toward his apprentice, he felt very bad for forgetting about him, but he couldn't help it. He had been hunting the night before, he always felt more content fishing in the moonlight, however he wasn't able to really excuse it. Tideripple had been trying, ever since he gave that stone to Brighteyes he wanted to be a better warrior, put more effort into things while still retaining his fun loving nature.
Diving into the water Tideripple swam quickly and emerged on the sandbar, behind a few reeds. Composing himself he crossed the threshold into the sand bar to see a rather upset Redpaw. Clearing his throat he headed over to his appretince and flicked his tail over Redpaw's back.
"Sorry I am late, I didn't realize I over slept. Now lets start battle training." Tideripple said smoothly, taking a few steps back and and headed to a softer part of the sandbar.

"You arrived, then?" He snorted, glaring at his mentor. "I've already heard horror stories of how lazy you supposedly are." He knew he should hold his tongue; but years had not yet taught him to follow his head rather than his heart. He had a lot of learning to do.
"You slept in late? Too bad." He sighed, and stopped watching his mentor. "So. Where do we start?"
He had been waiting too long, his fur getting colder. His attitude this morning had been bad already; a late mentor did not improve things, not at all.
He already dreaded trying to actually learn from this cat. Here goes nothing.
Words: Even lazier. Note: I did PM you, maybe it didn't get through or something... oh well.

Tideripple
I'm immature but I'll stay this way forever Until the day I die
------------------------------- The reaction Redpaw gave him was uncalled for, he was late big deal! Tideripple was a warrior and he was an apprentice not to mention his own! Anger flowed in Tideripple's own blood as he looked at Redpaw, he wasn't happy and his eyes narrowed darkly.
"I spent to many moons try to prove I wasn't worthless" Tideripple thought to himself but how Redpaw was treating him was uncalled for and he was going to put a stop to it right now.
"Redpaw, I will not take your language. One mistake I have made but you will not talk to me like that" Tideripple growled, coming to stand over Redpaw, his slightly taller build expressed nicely, after all Tideripple was a 30 moon year old warrior, easily capable of taking out Redpaw with one or two swipes of his paw.
"For your language and outright disrespectful remark about me you will be punished. One thing I learned long and hard was to hold my tongue. Never let it get the better of me, I never knew my father and I was ridiculed for it. Call my lazy all you want Redpaw but I am still your mentor and you will still respect me" Tideripple growled eyes narrowed as he turned sharply on his heels and headed about two tail lengths away from Redpaw, before turning to face his apprentice.
"Since you have a hard time waiting and being patient. You will stand there on all fours and just stand. " Tideripple said curtly, as he sat on his rump and watch Redpaw.

Word Count: -lazy Note I might have saw it but didn't click on it and then when I clean out my PMs I clicked it too || With the post, I think that Tide was really hurt since he was picked on when he was younger so Red acting like that will bring out the more cruel side of him

"Would you be patient after waiting here so long?" He eyed up the warrior, judging whether his mentor was actually going to attack him or not. I can run. I can swim. I can survive against him. He thought carefully. I won't let him fight me. I'll run to Brighteyes.
He got up and paced away, sitting and looking into the water once again. "Brighteyes said there was something good in you. She said I just needed to try and understand you. But after three hours of standing here in the cold while my pelt is soaking, I don't think I can try and understand. I know how much you don't want to teach me, no matter how much I want to learn." His voice wasn't angry, or violent. He made no attempt to hide the hurt he felt. "No, I won't stand here for four hours. If you want me to respect you, then...just teach me!" His voice raised a little. "Nothing more." He turned around to face Tideripple.
Word Count: Something ish. Notes: I'll arrange it as if this is after my thread with Brighteyes, so then it makes sense.

Tideripple
I'm immature but I'll stay this way forever Until the day I die
------------------------------- Tideripple's eyes narrowed to dangerous slits. Anger pulsed in his body, all the hurt from his clanmates came down to his moment. Redpaw his own apprentice didn't even try to respect him, it was okay for his Clan to dislike him, he grew up with that for most of his life, however with Redpaw it was chance to redeem himself and as he stood there, listening to Redpaw rant he knew that his chance was slipping away.
Eye narrowed he moved from his distance from Redpaw to stand over his apprentice once again. His time his claws were barely sheathed, he itched to attack something, nearly begging for a loner to come crashing in that way he'd have a reason to attack something. Drawing in a deep breath Tideripple looked at Redpaw, doing his best to hide the hurt.
"You have a choice now Redpaw. Rethink your attitude toward me now. Forgive me for being late and get over your stupid apprentice aged ego. I will happily teach you, that is why I accepted being our mentor however you do not get away with disrespecting me like that. Tideripple said, this time pushing all anger out of his voice, he was calm nearly robotic in his words.
"If you can get past other cat's judgment of me and see the world through your own eyes instead of someone else's then I will teach you." Tideripple added, relaxing his shoulders, thinking back to the days he came to Fernstar, his uncle and mentor complaining about how other cats treated him, call him worthless and a waste of fur. Those days he wanted to leave more than ever but he stayed he wanted to redeem his mother, take back the mistakes she made, the biggest one being him.
"Redpaw, you don't have to like me. I don't expect you to but you do have to respect me. Once you check your ego and bring it back to a normal size then well I'll teach you. Is that a deal?" Tideripple said a long sigh fallowed not long after, he hated fighting within the clan and he didn't want to start off his relationship with Redpaw like this.

He gritted his teeth, and nodded without a word. Well, isn't this going to be a breeze? He thought bitterly, but bit his tongue to stop himself saying anything. He'd already ruined it with Brighteyes, and wasn't keen to repeat the experiance.
"I'm sorry." He spoke after a long pause. "I know what it's like to be judge by the clan." Like about your own father abandoning you, then learning after he's dead that he never knew.

I'm immature but I'll stay this way forever Until the day I die
------------------------------- The apology that left Redpaw's mouth relaxed Tideripple, his anger was pushed away rather quickly, however the little added tidbit stuck a thorn in Tideripple's heart, Redpaw knew the hurt of being made fun of within in the clan. His eyes drifted downward as he took a more relaxed but still respectful posture around Redpaw.
"I know your dad left you, I never knew my either. He died saving my mom when she was pregnant with me. Still no one cares to think about him like a hero, after all he was a loner and my mother a deserter at a young age." Tideripple spoke flatly, his voice heavy with emotion but he wasn't going to let it get the better of him.
"Now on to your training. I figured we start off with battle training, but maybe you could use something to get you working for the clan early. Lets work on your land hunting. Now I'm not the best either but everyone knows how to hunt a mouse or two. " Tideripple spoke his usual fun nature come back, a little on the defensive side but still returning.

"Often the bravest go unnoticed." He didn't let any pity into his voice; it was the one thing he hated, and to inflict it on another...
His mind wondered before he anchored it in place. Perhaps this won't be as bad as they told me it would... The hope flared in him, and he concentrated eagerly.
"Nettlepaw always said I'm clumsy at that." He admitted. "She said I'd wake the whole forest up before I caught something. I suppose that's why Mother got so angry at me for 'not listening to her' whenever she tried to show me how to hunt." He shrugged. "I just thought I was too young. Guess I just need to work on it. With your help, of course. " He dipped his head, not showing any rebelliousness (?) or bitterness. Just an almost... almost... respect for this warrior...almost.
Perhaps things were going to be alright, after all.Brighteyes was...right?

I'm immature but I'll stay this way forever Until the day I die
------------------------------- A small pain filled Tideripple's face, but he pushed the pity aside. He didn't like it and he wasn't going to give it to Redpaw, he could almost see the hatred of pity come from the tom before him. Nodding now in understanding, Tideripple sunk into a hunter's crouch, now it was slightly a little more front heavy compared to other clan's forms but he didn't worry, it worked well enough for him.
"Watch and copy me. He spoke simply, stalking forward, careful in the placement of his paws as he stalked a low growing bush. His tail tucked under his body, to keep it out of sight. When he was a good distance from the bush he sprang, swatting at the small branches as if it was a mouse, or maybe even a water vole. None the less he was sure to 'kill' the bush as if it was prey.
Hunt that leaf over there" Tideripple added, after he composed himself, a leaf floating in the slight breeze not to far away.

Redpaw nodded, and set his mind to the leaf.
He crouched, approaching it with light steps. He slid sideways and tracked it as it was driven by the wind back to the puddles. Then, at a moment of rest, he leapt and drove his claws into the leaf, tearing it to shreds and releasing the shreds into the wind. He tried to copy his mentors landing, but slipped slightly and skidded to a stop.
He leapt back to his mentor, gripping the last piece of leaf in his jaws and presenting it proudly, before sitting again with his ears perked for the next instruction.

I'm immature but I'll stay this way forever Until the day I die
------------------------------- Tideripple watched Redpaw and nodded in praise. He rose up and headed over to his apprentice using his paw to correct is form just a little, instructing the younger tom.
"You did pretty well for your first time, now I think you need to put more weight on your hind-legs. When you jump up power from the back and strength to the front. The more control you have the less sliding you do" Tideripple commented respectfully as he took a few steps back and found another leaf, making a claw mark he pushed the leaf toward Redpaw again.
"This time hunt that leaf if you do well this time we can practice on real moving prey." Tidripple meowed before move back to sit a good two fox lengths away.
