'And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand'

Fallowpaw
A small chocolate and cream swirled tom limped heavily through camp. Trying to take all of his weight onto his right side he gasped every time his forepaw dragged against the ground. With large silvery blue eyes wide he lurched toward the camp stream. Sitting in front of the cool water he gingerly dipped his swollen foot into the stream. Wincing as the cold water rushed around it he sighed softly. He thought trodding on a thorn was bad enough but this was so much worse. Two night ago the apprentice had picked up a large thorn in his left fore-paw. It was securely lodged but in his naivety he had taken it's treatment upon himself. Yanking at the sharp edged thorn had hurt his tongue and it had only made it hurt worse. He had tried soaking his paw and then removing it but that came to no success either. Feeling embarrassed and a little stubborn the fluffy furred apprentice refused to go to the medicine cat for help. He had fiddled and pulled at the thorn so often the past day and a half that his paw pad, usually a nice brown color, was turning almost black from bruising. Blood seeped from the wound off and on as he tried unsuccessfully to use his paw. The edges around the accursed thorn were torn and sore looking. He really shouldn't have messed with it but he really thought a silly thorn was nothing to bother a medicine cat over. The apprentice felt a little woozy as he lifted his paw from the water. His round eyes casting about the camp he noticed Swanfeather's den seeming to call to him. He shook his head stubbornly. No way she would box his ears! Another pulse of pain made him shudder and he gave up.[/size]
Turning his little kitten body toward the medicine den Fallowpaw huffed. He wasn't looking forward to the medicine cat's rebuke that was certain. As he hobbled through the camp his tail drifted down to drag in the dust. His ears drooping ever so slowly as he made the perilous journey towards his doom. As if a stone had been attached to the tip of both of them they did not tip backwards but rather sideways. Making him look like a shamed kitten as he milled about in front of Swanfeather's den. He turned to go in, then backed as rapidly away as his injured paw would allow. His little head swinging side to side in uncertainty. His paw pad throbbed and at last he pushed his way inside. Remaining standing with his left paw tucked behind his right he looked downright silly his head bent as if he was already in trouble. Baby blue eyes squeezed shut as he quietly called for Swanfeather. "S. .swanfeather. .I uhh I ne..need you help." Fallowpaw mewed softly his sweet kitten voice laced with guilt.
