And who says I'm inconsiderate? They just don't know how nice a guy I can really be. Inwardly gloating at his own almost victory (he just needed to get the final piece into place, then he'd be all set to crown himself the matchmaker king), the silver and black tabby padded through LightningClan's camp, on the lookout for a particular russet-furred warrior with black stripes and more responsibility than Rapidwind could've ever handled.
It's not technically code-breaking, it should TECHNICALLY be neutral ground, at least that was the excuse he'd used on Roselight when she'd nearly shredded his ears off earlier... Alright so he'd technically snuck up on her, but still! Who'd wanna shred a good-lookin' mug like this one?
I know who's mug I'D like to shred... He thought with a mutinous growl - before his task at hand caught up with him, and he looked into the warriors' den, calling out in a raspy mew.
"Blazehawk! You there pal? I got somethin' to tell ya!"

The tip of Rapidwind's tail curled over like a question mark, his whiskers twitching as he struggled to hold back his smugness.
And then you'll go running off like LightningClan's fearless, noble deputy. Don't worry, you'll definitely thank me for this later.

He could feel his lungs screaming for air, his legs cramping and burning, but he kept running...there was something he was trying to reach, though he didn't know what. He could see nothing through the blackness, but somehow he knew someone else was there. As he ran, he began to hear a deep, rumbling mew, too far away for him to make out the words but...the voice was familiar, though he couldn't place it. He ran harder despite the exhaustion that followed hot on his heels, desperate to find the cat who was the source of that eerily familiar voice. Finally, he broke through a barrier of blinding white and there was a blurry figure before him. He could just barely make out hulking, broad shoulders and a bright russet pelt, marked with thick, stark black striping. For a moment, he was certain he was looking upon his blurred reflection. Then the cat opened his eyes, and he recoiled from the blur: they were not green, but a deep, slate grey. "Hello, Blazehawk," that cat mewed in the eerily familiar voice, and something in Blazehawk's chest yearned for him in a way he couldn't begin to explain. That's my - A loud, raspy mew broke through his dream like claws slicing through a leaf and Blazehawk jerked awake, long, hooked claws sinking into the moss of his nest. He'd been so close! So close to discovering the identity of the cat who'd haunted his dreams for seasons now. But no matter how hard he tried to cast back into his memory, he couldn't find that small jewel of information, that precise moment when he recognized that mystery tom. It was lost now, in the dark fog of sleep. Blazehawk let out a soft growl, shredding the moss with his claws, before he forced himself to his paws and padded out of the warriors' den to confront the tom who'd awoken him. "What is it, Rapidwind?" he snapped, sharper than he'd meant to, and he immediately looked upon his sibling with apologetic green eyes. "Sorry. I don't mean to be cross, it's just...ah, never mind. I'll tell you later. What're you needing to tell me?" and you thought the world would end if you just looked the other way thanks brooklyn from atf

Whoops. Rapidwind looked a bit taken aback, and eyes gleaming an apology. I must've interrupted an important dream! Ah well...now's not a time to be sleeping anyway!
"Sorry," blurted Rapidwind, feigning as though he were a bit out of breath. "You know that red kit you were tellin' me about the other day? I saw the fuzzball near StarClan's Claws - he was actin' kinda weird, like something was wrong." Rapidwind layered on the concern and uneasiness, flicking an ear back in the direction of the camp entrance, yellow eyes gleaming, though his brow furrowed in slight worry.
Now for the Pièce de résistance.
"I told him I'd go find you, but he didn't even respond, just kinda looked at his paws." Rapidwind gave a slight shrug of his silver and black shoulders, tail twitching as looked into the deputy's eyes.
"I don't know the little fuzzball, but I figured I'd better let you know anyway. He might not even still be there but eh..."

Rapidwind trailed off, seeming to lose interest as his head bobbed while he licked the fur just below his throat, wrapping his tail around his paws. Now what are you gonna do, Blazehawk? Run off to talk to a poor miserable kitten? Knowing his brother, that'd be EXACTLY what he'd do!

Blazehawk felt almost sick with the sudden rush of anxiety that flooded him, so strong that he couldn't explain it: Russetkit was from an entirely different Clan, and the deputy had no business feeling so...deeply concerned for the kit. Still, he did, and if he was at StarClan's Claws acting so strangely, Blazehawk wanted to know why. "He didn't say anything at all?" he mewed carefully, examining his brother's expression. For Russetkit to be quiet was an unnerving thing in itself. Though his outward demeanor seemed cool and mildly curious, the frantic twitch of the tip of his tail was the only sign that he was as disturbed as he felt. He blinked slowly, mulling the situation over in his head, but really his mind was made up the moment the words had come out of Rapidwind's mouth. He'd go to StarClan's Claws and he'd go there quickly. But he couldn't reveal how deep his concern was...it was bordering on disloyal to care so much about a cat from another Clan. And besides, he was somewhat hoping that if Roselight came looking for her cousin again, they would cross paths...but that, of course, was something he'd never admit to. He feigned a weary sigh. "I suppose he'll need escorting back to his camp," he mewed, pretending to find the idea tiring; turning around, he threw his parting words over his shoulder. "Might as well go get him. Thanks, Rapidwind." Blazehawk's gait was slow and leisurely as he left the camp, but once he was out of sight of his sibling, he broke into a sprint fast enough to make any LightningClan cat proud, his paws soon meeting the sandy bank of the stream that ran from LightningClan territory to RainClan. He only hoped that whatever was bothering Russetkit wasn't serious. and you thought the world would end if you just looked the other way thanks brooklyn from atf

Like a mouse walking right into a lion's paws, Rapidwind had succeeded in his mission.
Caught, killed and carried back for dinner, he gloated, covering up a smile as he gave a slight dip of his head in response to Blazehawk.
"No problem - and Blazehawk!" He mewed in his signature raspy voice, once more putting on a tone of concern, this time it was a little more heartfelt.
"Good luck, and be careful. You might not be the only cat headed for StarClan's Claws." This time he didn't mean Roselight.

It would be a complete and total disaster if the LightningClan deputy got caught meeting with a RainClan she-cat, and Rapidwind would do anything to make sure that didn't happen. You shouldn't worry so much, Blazehawk's one of the brightest cats you know, and Roselight's no mouse-brain either, they'd be able to keep from getting caught. Letting the fur around his neck lie flat again, Rapidwind watched as the deputy left, the silver warrior able to read the signs all over his friend's body that the deputy was deeply worried about Russetkit.
Rapidwind purred with amusement, out of ear-shot.
Russetkit's probably having a nice nap right about now. Either way, let's hope this goes as smooth as a kitten's paw, for all our sakes.
