The first of many cool, crisp autumn mornings was putting Lionstep in a good mood. Though Greenleaf and Newleaf were seasons worthy of celebration and usually meant good things for TreeClan, it was actually the changing colors of the trees, the cooler breezes that ruffled his pelt, the brisk morning air that the TreeClan deputy favored. Though the crunchy leaves provided a tougher time for apprentices when it came to hunting, and arguably so for the big-pawed, golden warrior, he enjoyed the challenge.

His purpose for heading so deep into TreeClan territory was not a hunting trip - at least not now, he'd already gone twice after he'd seen to the dawn patrol - it was in search of a particularly...enthusiastic? TreeClan warrior. Battle-ready, loyal to the core and always searching for ways to prove TreeClan's strength, Bloodtalon - though with a grim name - was a valuable member to his Clan, and Lionstep respected his...warmongering personality to a degree. Wishing to enlist the tom's services for a little something he'd been working on, the golden tom had been following Bloodtalon's scent for a short while now, approaching the Open Woods.

I'd bet my mother's left foot he's searching for a fight with LightningClan, Lionstep glanced around the cause of many a Lightning/Tree feud, and lifted his head, mouth open to scent the air. Yes! Bloodtalon was definitely around here somewhere. In case, against Lionstep's assumptions, Bloodtalon was actually out hunting rather than swaggering along the border like a walking battle-flag, the deputy didn't dare call out for him. Instead, he kept his eyes and ears open, sitting still and taking in the sights and sounds of the forest, trusting his instincts to find what his eyes could not.
