"Silentsong"
The brown warrior called out weakly in his sleep, the death of the she-cat medicine cat he loved with all his heart broke him, he shattered into tiny little pieces. However the cough that racked his entire body forced his slowly thinning frame to trash in an unnatural manner. It was pitiful and no cat should feel such pain.

The cough and body destroying sickness was green-cough, made worse by the broken heart he carried. He barely rose his head up enough to suckle from the moss that Rookfrost brought to him, his mouth had grown so dry he hated the thought of eating herbs or prey for that matter.

His eyes closed again, this time a cough echoed within his lung but his body didn't trash to much. Its seemed a certain presence filled the area, a warm touch to the cold around the brown warrior. His eyes barely drifted open and there before him was the outline of the beautiful she-cat that stole his heart, Silentsong. He opened his dried mouth to talk to her, but she hushed him with her mist like tail. "Don't move to much, when Rookfrost comes back please ask for deathberries, join me in StarClan" She said calmly it warm him, her voice even if it was just a figment of his rattled and sick brain he pictured her so clearly.

Again he shut his eyes tight, wincing as another cough attacked his body, there under the musky scent of the herbs was a new one, slightly more fresh. "Rookfrost? If that's you please..give me some death berries. Don't ask questions." Crookegaze meowed surprised in himself that he had mustered the strength to form a complete statement, however it didn't last long as he winced when another body shaking cough covered his body, blood warm on his tongue, the sickness taking it's toll faster then expected.

Would a 'proper' Medicine Cat have rebuked the fevered, miserable death-whispers of the ailing brown tom? Would morals have prevented a more faithful cat from taking the next, proper coures of action? Oh but this wasn't a question of morals; it was a question of mercy. Rookfrost did not have many things, very few traits the rest of society would deem appropriate or moral, but this peculiar, deadly scientist amongst warriors and hunters and figureheads, did possess the ability to show mercy.

"Rookfrost? If that's you please..give me some death berries. Don't ask questions."

He had originally left his den to get more borage to add Crookedgaze's horrendous fever, the greencough having fully settled in and forcing the warrior to be issolated into a back section of Rookfrost's den. When those whispered words had at last reached the dark, tufted ears of the phantom-like tom, his pale gray eyes had filled with a metallic gleam of understanding, a machine understanding a command that it had not yet been aware it was free to perform. Under normal circumstances, Rookfrost, for the sake of remaining inconspicuous, would've carried on wasting herbs and treating Crookedgaze, though he knew in that empty space where his heart was, that the older tom would never recover. He was suffering from some sort of emotional calamity, the kind that came from a broken heart.

Rookfrost would never understand it.
If I were to cut open your chest, would I find your heart intact? Yes I think I would. Then what is it that's causing you pain? How memories and emotions and the behaviors of other cats could effect one another so severely was a different kind of science he did not have an interest in. He wasn't going to touch philosophy and the emotional with a 10 foot branch. The stately shadow passed by the coughing Crookedgaze, blood leaking from his dried out mouth, body a mass of strength-sapping trembles. Even if the warrior had not asked for death berries, Rookfrost would have been left to watch him die within the next few hours regardless; Crookedgaze was not long for this world. Working in silence, the LightningClan medicine cat carefully plucked a small clump of death berries he kept high up on a shallow shelf he'd dug into the den wall (and out of any curious mouths of kits or apprentices), and brought them near the ailing warrior.

He took the time to methodically crush up the berries, knowing his charge would not have the strength to chew them himself. Smearing them onto a leaf, Rookfrost nudged the mixture directly near Crookedgaze's mouth. In case the tom could no longer see him, the Medicine Cat spoke to him like a black-furred angel of death.
"Eat, and the pain will end."

Once Crookedgaze had been taken over by the final sleep, the obsidian healer would leave to wash his paws of the death berries and the deed.

The crushed berries were placed before him, without asking question are giving a last wish, Crookedgaze lapped up the crushed berries, closing his eyes he melted away. Death berries had an act to sooth the consumer, warm their bodies before shutting down their heart.

Crookedgaze just laid there a moment longer, no more coughing but now shallow breathing. There in the den he saw Rookfrost but beside the black medicine cat was the she-cat he loved, she nuzzled him kindly before licking his forehead. Without thinking the tom rose out of his nest and followed after, but in fact he body wasn't moving. He spirit had rose out of it's nest and followed the other spirit of Silentsong, together they climbed the higher and higher, drifting into silverpelt, their worries lost to their mortal selves, no longer affecting them in Silverpelt, a happy ending to a warrior's life, being lead to StarClan behind his love, so there they could chase rabbits without another care in the world.
