Smokefur sauntered in from outside the camp, shaking to rid her self of the light coat of snow that had dusted her pelt. Breathing a sigh of relief to be back at camp and to help her calm the anxious feelings that were bubbling inside of her, the warm mist floated up as it dissipated into the cold air around them all. She closed her eyes and tried to steady herself, her anxiousness was causing the world to spin around her and she needed it to steady before she could even think about attempting her next feat. Moving up to the den of her leader she called the name of her sibling from another litter, "Ravenstar?" Her voice was strong and confident, but not harsh and didn't match at all what she was feeling. "May I enter, I have some things to say." She scrunched her eyes closed again as she awaited a response, this was crazy. There was no way she would get away with this, however she was doing her best to convince herself that she just might. She had already started not long ago by giving instructions to certain warriors, she was in to deep to stop now.

Ravenstar had been sleeping, something she encouraged her warriors and apprentices to do when they had spare time to conserve energy, when her ears twitched at the sound of a voice and her amber eyes blinked open, peering out over the edge of her nest. She stood and arched her back in a stretch before sitting back down, swiping her tongue over her fur, ruffled from sleep. Her tail lashed once in annoyance that she would not have time to groom it properly before addressing whoever had called to her. She had still been half asleep, but she knew someone was waiting outside of her den to see her. With a short sigh, she straightened herself, curling her tail around her paws, all the better to keep them warm, and yawned before finally speaking, “Come in, then.” She licked her paw a few times and swiped it over her ear.

Smokefur took another deep breath whilst closing her eyes; she stood there for another moment collecting herself before she finally revealed her brilliant blue oculars. The worry that had plagued her gaze before was replaced with ice cold determination, it was a ruse but she knew she had to look the part for Ravenstar to take her seriously. Stepping into the den she wasted no time before launching into the first order on her short list of topics to cover. "Ravenstar I've been having these horrid nightmares, they have been occurring for the past few nights." She said falling quiet as she took in the surroundings of the den, nothing spectacular. Nest. Leader. Medcat. Quaint. She turned her gaze to meet her leaders as she delivered the next line hoping her determination will add much needed force to her words, "I have no idea if these dreams are omens, or even from Starclan at all. They are just..." She paused trying to find the right word but as nothing could ever get to the level she needs she stops at, "Horrifying."

Her ears perked slightly as her medicine cat stepped into her den. She hadn’t spoken much, if at all, with Smokefur since leaf-bare started, besides when some cat fell ill anyway. Whitecough was already much too common and Narrowback… Narrowback had already contracted greencough and gone to join StarClan from it. Ravenstar was sure she had only been the first of what would turn out to be many victims of this unforgiving leaf-bare. She could only hope that its early coming would mean it would leave early as well.

She tilted her head in the slightest as Smokefur began to speak, wondering if she had word from StarClan… maybe about when leaf-bare would let up on them, or how better to survive it at least. No such words came from the medicine cat’s mouth however… in fact if one were to take her apparent nightmares as omens it seemed to indicated the exact opposite of the good news she had been hoping for. Her plumed tail twitched and she shifted in her nest slightly, her pale amber gaze trained on her younger sibling, “Surely if they were from StarClan… you would know, would you not?” Ravenstar certainly hoped these were just normal dreams… but when a medicine cat came to you speaking about their dreams… well… you tended to listen in case they meant something important.

Smoke stayed silent for a moment, she was rather distraught with the answer she was about to present to her leader. "No. I have no idea if the nightmares are from Starclan or not. It stresses me out." She confessed her look changing from that of determined to one of a flustered she cat. "Even if they were, I have no idea what I would take away from them." She added taking a few seconds to close her eyes, slow her breathing, and compose herself. "I will keep you informed if they turn out to be more then just dreams, but know they have left me exhausted..." She said honestly waiting a moment before launching into the next topic she had prepared for Ravenstar. "Moving on, I think we need to talk about these patrols you have been sending into other territories Ravenstar." Smoke said trying to keep a straight face; she was close to shaking in fear as she spoke to her leader so candidly. With what she had been planning to do next it was a surprise she wasn’t mewling like a kit.

Ravenstar’s ears twitched as Smokefur admitted she wasn’t sure if the dreams… the nightmares, were from StarClan or not. Surely they weren’t then? What sort of medicine cat wouldn’t know a dream from StarClan when it came to them? She didn’t really want to doubt her little sister’s abilities, but…. Her ears twitched again, unsure what to think about it. When the medicine cat said the dreams, and the stress that came with them, were leaving her exhausted, Ravenstar’s tail twitched slightly, her gaze narrowing a bit. She was clearly unsympathetic about it. Every cat was exhausted every day this leaf-bare with little to show for their efforts. But she said nothing on that note as Smokefur continued.

Her ears perked forward slightly, alert, and her eyes narrowed further, “What about them? And I only send them to TreeClan anyway. The other Clan’s territories are too far to be worth the trip and the effort and energy, and RainClan… since their flood I’m sure prey is even scarcer in their territory, perhaps besides their slimy, odorous fish.” She wrinkled her nose at the thought. RainClan cats smelled the WORST because of their diet… surely every other Clan agreed on that point! The others didn’t smell that great either, but they were at least bearable in comparison to RainClan. And besides all that even… there was the river in the way of most of RainClan’s territory. It simply wasn’t worth earning the wrath of RainClan AND TreeClan for what sort of measly prey options RainClan’s territory that her Clan could reach before getting to the river might provide. TreeClan alone they could more than handle and the prey there was closer to what they normally ate. Not to mention they could travel as far into TreeClan territory as they wanted without running into an obstacle like the river.

Smokefur showed no emotion as her leader spoke, she heard Ravenstars’ justifications and met them with a cold expressionless stare. “I don’t care about whose' borders we cross, the fact that we are crossing the borders at all is a problem.” She said in a calm as a matter of fact tone. “Ravenstar these patrols need to stop, we are not above the warrior code and stealing prey and crossing borders is clearly breaking it!” She said raising her voice slightly as she went on, “On top of that, how can we dare risk battling other clans during such a harsh season! We would surely be dooming our warriors!” She finished her little bit and sat down, apparently she had stood in her little rant, and laid her tail across her front paws as she delivered a few licks to her chest fur trying to lay down some of the fur that was starting to prick up and maintain her dignity.
