Description: Insidious: an average sized feline that’s finely coated in pure, utter darkness with not a trace of lighter pigmentation throughout the coat’s entirety. Amongst the center of her facial features lie a pair of piercing, pale blue irises that dilute the night sky like cold venom. Insidious is slender; agile. Brute force and exceptional muscle have never been in her favour; instead, being a she-cat for perfected calculations and technical approaches. Her four limbs are long and skinny, having the potential for utmost stealth, elegance and balance. Insidious has a rather small head with large, rounded ears. Due to this inherited genetic, Insidious has outstanding hearing abilities. Having very sensitive paws, each step is incredibly light and airy; nearly soundless. One feature that often won’t go un-noticed to the naked eye is a light red scar that begins directly behind her right ear, flowing down her neck to end at the base of her right shoulder blade. The creature that inflicted this wound still remains thickly apparent in her intellect, a horrid story behind it she refrains from sharing.
Description Summary: An average sized, thin furred, pure black she-cat with pale blue eyes.
Personality: Insidious is the quiet observer. She’s never been a she-cat with particular interest toward constant verbal communication, more likely to express herself physically. Always keen and alert of her surroundings; Insidious rarely misses any source of action. Easily fascinated; Insidious has a never ending spark of curiousity. The more dangerous and thrilling a situation seems, the more likely you are to spot Insidious hidden in an enclosure of foliage or amongst high treetop branches merely analyzing the situation with a careful eye. Although, the very second realization kicks in toward the fact her cover has been blown, she’ll be out of sight without a trace of warning. Despite this causing her to appear frightful, it’s all for the sake of an illusion. Mirroring the image that she has fled causes her to slip one’s mind, this is where it becomes an advantage, locating a newer, better hiding spot to observe from where becoming noticed is less likely to occur. Insidious is far more devious and manipulative than she appears by first impression. Shrouded in a deep cloak of mystery, her motives are often quite difficult to pinpoint. Being a rather charming individual amongst the rare cases where she is involved in a confrontation... Insidious thrives in creating a lasting imprint within another’s mind.
History:
Mother: Danala.
Father: Marrock.
Brother: Amoux.
Insidious didn’t have the perfect, ideal kithood that many hope for, although, there wasn’t exactly anything too horribly traumatic about it, either. Danala didn’t have a successful birthing. Being weak before the process had even begun; many of Insidious’ siblings – except for one – didn’t survive. It was tragic for Danala and Marrock, though, they refrained from allowing the depression to affect the care and health they needed to provide for the two survivors of the litter. Danala never did regain her lost strength; she began relying on Marrock to provide food, shelter and water for her so she could continue living, therefore, continue providing the necessary milk for Insidious and Amoux.
This process, although seemingly futile at first, did remain successful until both Insidious and Amoux were able to properly walk, no longer needing to live off of Danala’s milk. This was great news and an overall wondrous success at first. But, the lifting mood abruptly returned to gloom one early morning to discover Marrock had ditched Danala, Insidious and Amoux so he no longer had to carry the families needs’ upon his shoulders.
Danala was devastated, only increasing her weakening. Insidious and Amoux made a decision that required huge amounts of effort and determination: they were going to provide food, shelter and water for Danala in Marrock’s place, therefore, labelling themselves as her new ‘caretakers’. At first, their efforts were little rewarded. Marrock – too busy providing for Danala at the time to even bother teaching his offspring, and Danala – too weak to provide for herself... it was put into the paws of Insidious and Amoux to teach themselves the necessary tactics of survival. Having one another for assistance helped gather knowledge more quickly, the two siblings accustoming themselves to a near unbreakable bond.
After 16 moons of consistent learning, providing and working all for the sake of Danala... a routine was established. One day, Amoux would go out to gather the supplies for Danala while Insidious remained at the den to provide company for the sickly mother. The next, Insidious would take Amoux’s shift while he took her own. On one particular bright, sun splashed afternoon Insidious had the gathering shift. The black she-cat was on her way back to the den with the day’s meal until a terror filled shriek erupted violently through the air. Protective instincts immediately settled in like a ton of rocks in Insidious’ stomach. The captured mouse fell lifelessly from the lethal grip of her jaws, limbs springing forward with an exploding rush of adrenaline. Reaching the clearing where her families den was present, a moment passed simply frozen in her placement analyzing the area for the presence of an intruder. Once none were detected, it became increasingly apparent whatever it was, had already entered the den.
An air piercing hiss oozed from Insidious’ vocal chords, rushing forward at full speed into the inner depths of her den. In the far corner Danala was huddled closely to the secured wall, Amoux angrily towering above their mother in protection from the red, black and white carnivore threateningly swiping its paws near Amoux’s face.
A fox! Insidious remained stunned in her placement, completely horrified; wide eyed of the situation unfolding before her. Clearly, her presence momentarily distracted brother Amoux whom dared to surface his gaze toward Insidious for even the briefest of seconds. As quickly as the brother’s actions had occurred, it was enough to cause him a blood dripping injury across the jaw. Unleashing a painful shriek, Amoux slinked backward instinctively to cover his wounded mouth. That was the very sight Insidious needed to snap her back to reality... no longer frozen, she sprung forward to land herself upon the mammal’s back in hopes of distracting the creature. Insidious continuously raked her claws through the fox’s fur until red liquid began seeping upwardly from the forming injuries. No longer messing around, the fox vigorously shook his body with such force that Insidious’ grip wasn’t enough to remain where she was. Flinging backward, Insidious collided with the den wall only to slap upon the ground below with a harsh stumble. It seemed no reaction time was given because the angered fox was standing above her by the time she was able to open her eyes, his parted jaws angled for the scruff of her neck.
Pulled upward; four limbs helplessly dangling in the air, the arising pressure in her neck built until blood began to fill the fox’s mouth. It seemed this was it for Insidious... she was dieing. Pale blue eyes fleetingly vanished behind her eyelids, only to once again find herself painfully impacting the ground. Her black figure, now thickly coated in her own blood, lingered on the ground, ears pulled upward to hear the alarming hisses of Amoux as he battled the fox to save Insidious’ life. Beginning to rise in hopes of providing assistance for her brother; Insidious found herself on the wrong side of the fox as his back limbs kicked backward only to collide with her shoulder blade, small claws upon the fox’s hind paws swiftly slashing upwardly, only pulling away upon reaching the back of her right ear. The newly inflicted wound began to sting in a matter of seconds, small hisses erupting from Insidious’ small maw as she attempted to endure the pain. Managing a glance behind forced shut eyelids, the sight before her caused Insidious’ vision to blur. Amoux was dangling lifelessly from the fox’s powerful jaw set with a snapped neck, his blood lapping at the floor below. Insidious stumbled backward out of disbelief, ears flattening against her blood coated skull.
“Run, Insidious, now!” The voice of Danala echoed through the air, barely audible due to the sounding bells cluttering in Insidious’ head. The last image she allowed herself to see was the fox nearing Danala’s immobile body before she pivoted on her heels and fled, ears remaining flat in a futile attempt of blocking out her mother’s shrieks.
