kotik (he/him) | loner
Kotik had travelled a long way over the last few seasons. He'd seen so many things, met so many creatures, made so many friends and memories. He wouldn't give up anything he'd learned over the last year for anything, except maybe finding the one thing he'd been searching for all that time.
He'd very much grown to like the valley, and hoped that once he found what he was looking for, he'd be able to return here. He'd never experienced cats like the ones who lived here, in hierarchial groups with deep-set traditions and rules. He liked learning about them, even if he couldn't always keep it all straight, but watching the Clan cats was fascinating to him. Not only that, but some of those cats had touched his heart in special ways, cats he knew he never wanted to forget, let alone leave behind. Yet, he knew he would have to if he wanted to find what he was looking for. He kept putting off the day he would leave, though, as though something was keeping him here, as though something was pulling at him to stay. He wondered if it was someone who was pulling at him to stay.
The white and tabby-patched cat was climbing the mountains. He had looked up at them longingly, and heard that there were even more cats who lived up there, and he wanted to meet them. But more than anything, he wanted to know what it felt like to stand up there and look down over the valley. He wondered if the wind would bristle against his fur with the cold he used to feel back home in the coldest season. A season that was so cold, it could kill a cat if they weren't careful.
Kotik missed home.
He hated admitting it, because he'd grown so fond of this place, too. But he missed the streets, the cats he'd grown up beside, the comfort of his mother and his sister on cold and hungry nights. This place was better. It had prey, it had company, it had beautiful sights. But home was beautiful, too, and Kotik missed it. He missed the excited sounds of lyudi who travelled along, and the odd one who would lean down and pet him. While he never wanted to live with a lyudi, he admitted there were some good ones, ones that were nice and would give him and his sister little treats and make sure that they wouldn't starve. Same went for the cats of the streets - no one went hungry if someone could do something about it. It was hard to imagine dividing territory and refusing to let other cats hunt on specific lands instead of just making sure every cat was fed, happy and healthy.
Yellow eyes flickered as Kotik reached a rather high point. He wasn't sure if could even get any higher, though he made sure to look up every now and so - one of the Clan cats had warned him about the predators of the mountains, including large birds that could scoop a cat up and away. He shuddered at the very thought. But when Kotik looked out over the valley, he couldn't believe what he saw.
The horizon was beautiful before him, but then there was even more. There was so much to explore, so much world to see. He could look down and spot the lake where he'd met Koisplash, the large expanse of open land where he'd met Ravenpaw and Tigerstride, and the great crack that seemed to run the length of the valley. It was so much more daunting up high than it was up close. But even the crack held a strange beauty to it in a sense of macabre.
He wondered how much more beauty was out there, what else he might see on his journey. All he knew was he wasn't looking forward to this leg of the journey ending. Kotik wished he could stay. He wished he could make this home, after he said goodbye to his home so long ago.
