MOUSEPETAL
She broke through one invisible border from one landmark to the next with effortless movements as she traveled the terrain. From the comfort of one space as if it were a world of its own and hopping straight into another as the terrain and grounds changed the further she led from Mistclan camp. It was not unusual for her to disappear for the better half of the day after her duties were done. With the seasons changing by the day she had the opportunity to watch as the clan transformed themselves once more to accommodate the change. It never ceased to amaze her the way two separate clans could work together when forced under circumstances no one clan could face alone. It made her proud to be part of Mistclan. Even prouder to know that even as seasons change and bonds formed further; kits being born and legacies being passed on. Their clan would survive.
What Mousepetal had not foreseen in the aftermath of the earthquake was the bringing together of herself and Badgerscar. She'd watched others slowly fall in love and kits being born through it all but never once had thought perhaps she could have that future too. She hadn't seen herself having much of a future beyond being a warrior in all actuality; just doing her duty day by day and relishing in the achievements of others. But Starclan had a different path and Mousepetal could swear perhaps Starlingcry was smirking down at her in amusement as if to tell the younger feline 'I told you so'. not that Mousepetal was complaining. When she and Badgerscar made it official their bonds the slight warrior found that perhaps her world had been open to another door entirely that she was not used to. Like a kit seeing the world anew; and she was thrumming with excitement to be able to explore whatever came next with her new mate. Jeez, such a single word holding so much power. It scared her as much as it thrilled her to say it aloud; even if it tasted odd on her tongue for the first few times she'd said it aloud to anyone else besides Badgerscar.
Her nimble paws landed with grace to the marshy ground; feeling the mud squish between the pads of her toes before she was turned her attention behind her with a grin and a teasing glint to her green eyes. "Come on now, I know you're a large brute but that doesn't mean you can lag behind to stare at my tail all day!" she called at the large behemoth who's figure she could see plodding along behind her.
It amused her to watch Badgerscar navigate mushy areas because with the thickness of his fur and his weight he was always bound to sink and get his paws dirty. Maybe that's why she enjoyed leading him to places with water and mud or if it rained she'd be the first to drag his butt out into it. She'd come to realize that the longer they spent time together with the promise of forever that he brought out a more playful side to her like a kit. A kit she never had the chance of being thanks to her parents. But with Badgerscar he allowed her to navigate herself without judgement. Even if she ended up dragging him along for the mischief. She was happy; happier than she had been in quiet some time.
turning herself back around she leapt up onto one of the large willow tree roots that sank it's long tendrils into the depths of the water. Her claws came to sink into the wood beneath her paws for grip as she loomed over the edge to peer down at the small fish gathered among the tree roots underneath the shadow of the tree. She grinned as she watched keenly at the tiny fish minding their own business. For someone who did not grow up with water she did enjoy being around it even if she couldn't fish to save her life and swim just as tolerably as someone who hadn't grown up in the waters like Rainclan cats had. She was merely enjoying watching the wildlife; it's behavior as unique as the changing of seasons that brought or took them away.
"Badgerscar look! There's tadpoles!" the grey and white molly chirped excitedly as she crouched; perched with tail lashing in excitement as she saw dozens of dark blobs in the water. "One day you'll grow up nice and fat; I'll be one of those who'll snap you right up for my dinner." she grinned down at them, her voice a little coo as if talking to a kit despite the menacing message of certain doom
"This is Mouse speaking." And this is Mouse thinking.
