It was a relatively early leaf-fall morning and was bedecked for the forthcoming season, donning the most vibrant hues. The season has swept into the mountains and woodlands afar with a humble boldness that invites the eye to see more than they otherwise might. The browns come as a gratifying quilt to the earth, yet the rest are the hues of stone, bark, and warm-colored foliage. It is as if nature is calling out to the spring, and the trees can't help but become flowers, towering blossoms of flamed foliage to dance into the cerulean abysm before tumbling as giant confetti to the terrain. Leaf-fall arrived with regal ease, content to come with slow grace. Though the first leaves have fallen to the soil so rich with rain, most remain verdant, fluttering in the strengthening wind. And so, though expected for that garland of reds and golds. Though inside the tribe's cave homeland were a few kits named Rush, Forest, and Dragonfly, disregarding their elongated names. The three kits wrestled and tumbled, supervised by their parents, Viper and Wolf. Dragonfly was careful of her siblings, considering their slender figures built for hunting prey. It wasn't as though their fun had lasted long, as the to-bes came meandering over in a confident strut.

The kits' parents had wandered off for a moment, assuming their kits remained close; they wouldn't go far. Dragonfly froze where she was, claws unsheathing out of frustration, toes flexing. The two cats were familiar to Dragonfly as Ebony and Leopard. The two had distinct personalities, but the pair of bullies had an energy that radiated off from one another. Ebony loomed over the smaller felines, followed by Leopard, who repeated after the she-cat. In haste, Ebony leaned in toward Forest's facade, "You two will never, ever be cave-guards like you wished, isn't that unfortunate. How sad." It wasn't long before Leopard chimed in, "I don't believe you'll make good prey-hunters either, as you're supposedly destined to be." A snicker escaped the to-bes, and Dragonfly was already losing her mind, attempting to keep her claws to herself. She'd detest getting in too much trouble, as she wasn't typically an aggressor. "What do you want?" The chocolate-colored she-kit mumbled, a soft grumble reverberating in her throat, "Please, go away." She scoffed, taking a step in front of her siblings, who avoided confrontation.

"I suggest you leave us be Ebony, Leopard; otherwise, we all get in trouble!" She claimed, hoping the minor threat would shoo the pair. Ebony quickly stepped up to the cocoa damsel, where Dragonfly didn't budge, nose-to-nose. "Or what, Dragonfly?" Dragonfly huffed, unsure of where to go next. She felt depleted from regularly protecting her siblings, though it wasn't their fault, and she never dared to blame them. She ultimately accused the to-bes' immaturity and discouraging words. She loathed hearing Rush and Forest being degraded and often humiliated. In the depths of her mind, she hoped her parents would return any moment, "I am not afraid of you two."

TRooster was restless. Snake and the rest of the Cave-Guards were helping out with another to-be's Right of Passage. He tried not to be envious about it; obviously his time would come, but wouldn't it be great if he could take the trial now? Prove to everyone just how strong and capable he really was. His littermates were still out learning how to hunt and fight, even Rock, who Rooster couldn't help but worry about...

The young tom paced by the entrance of the cave, feeling the solidity of the worn stone floor beneath his paw-pads, energy trapped under his skin like a lightning bolt. I know what I can do! I can practice my fighting skills! That was the best way to pass the time, and besides, Rooster couldn't resist comparing himself to his fellow Cave-Guard To-Bes; it wasn't a competition between him and them - they were all trying to do the same thing, right? - but he had to know where he stood when it came to strength and strategy.

"I am not afraid of you two."

Rooster whirled around, ensnared by the bold, unwavering statement from nearby. He immediately spotted Leopard and Ebony, the confused crinkle of his brow lasting only a few split seconds before understanding dawned, white-hot. They're bullies. He'd made it clear the moment he'd been born that no one got away with teasing his brother, Rock, for his twisted leg. It only just now occurred to Rooster that his brotherly protection should have extended to more than just his own siblings.

With flexing paws and squared posture, Rooster marched over, jade eyes glinting at their sneers. The diminutive form of two kittens, their eyes owlish and round, made his heart clench tight. This isn't right. No one can say who becomes a Cave-Guard or Prey-Hunter except for Skyteller. These two whispering foul words like a couple of snakes...it made his blood boil! He stood right behind Dragonfly, glaring at them over the top of her fluffy chocolate-hued head. "She asked you nicely to go away, and you're still here? Jeez, sounds like you two need to learn some manners! You're Cave-Guards, not crows. But if you need to be shooed away..." Rooster grinned, lowering into an offensive stance. "I'd be glad to knock some sense back into you featherbrains!"

This interaction wasn't the first time these two mouse-brains bombarded her siblings, leaving distaste over her tongue every time she encountered their stringent wrath. She found them rather bleak in their maturity since they were older and more experienced. She envisioned the better of the two as felines she could look up to, but there wasn't a slight possibility after the innumerable ridicules her siblings suffered. Leopard and Ebony must've either harbored insecurities or strangely relished the opportunity to bully her siblings, "Frankly, it doesn't matter where they stand! They are a part of the tribe, and that's special alone!" She scowled, a huff escaping her nostrils as she glared at the opposer, Ebony. Dragonfly desired to use her claws, but it would get her in trouble, and her tribemates respected Dragonfly in her youth. The mademoiselle heard another voice erupt from behind her, glimpsing over her shoulder; she recognized him quickly. She was familiar with the tom as Rooster, approximately the same age as Ebony and Leopard. Either way, she knew he was a few moons older than her, and she admired his dedication. The weight on Dragonfly's shoulders was alleviated to an extent.

It was better than facing the tormentors on her own, a soft smile tugging at the edges of her maw when she glanced back at the tomcat. Dragonfly wanted to thank him but knew it should postpone until after they'd dealt with Ebony and Leopard. Ebony raised an eyebrow, gaze flickering toward the assured bachelor, lowering into a defensive stance. "Okay then, show me what you got, Rooster." Dragonfly's ears flattened amongst her crania upon those words. No claws, no claws, She silently prayed in her mind. Stepping out of their way, she faced Leopard, swallowing thickly as she lowered her stance. "At least it's a fair spar this time." She flashed a brief glimpse at Rooster before shifting her crania toward her opponent, "If we win, this shall be the last time you bully them!" She meowed, scrutinizing the other feline. She somewhat doubted that the barbarity from the pair would never cease, but she couldn't endeavor to stop it for all. She was sick of watching her siblings through it, which wasn't encouraging. Tribemates are supposed to sustain one another, not yank one another down. Leopard's eyes rolled, "Yeah, we will see about that, Dragonfly."
