shadow of soaring (eagle) (she/her) | tribe of forgotten waters
Her paws itched, tired of having nothing to do. There had been no formal request to go hunting, but Shadow of Soaring Eagle knew that she could no longer stay put. The tabby she-cat got to her feet, stretching her limbs each and every way. She gave one final yawn, sharp teeth ready to clench down on a juicy piece of prey that could never see her coming. As the slight-bodied cat looked about her, she spotted one of her own littermates.
"Song," she called, her voice dull and muted as it often was, "Join me in hunting?" she asked. It was clear from Eagle's tone of voice that she was likely going hunting whether Song agreed or not, so it was only a matter of choice for the black and white fellow Prey-Hunter to decide what she would do with her own day.
Eagle had admitted to herself in the past that she held some jealousy towards her sister. When they were both To-Be's, Eagle had been training to become a Cave-Guard, wanting more than anything to prove that her slight size meant nothing and that she could still be strong enough to protect those around her. After many failed attempts, she had to try her hand at the Prey-Hunter trial, only to pass with flying colours. She had since fallen in love with her new position, realizing that being a Prey-Hunter meant that she could feel the warm blood of a creature rinse between her claws more often than any Cave-Guard might. But her jealous did not stem from Song spending her training knowing what she would do, but with who her mentor had been: Moth That Flutters in Moonlight, a cat who would later become Lead Prey-Hunter. Song was not the only cat to gain the tutelage of a leader of the Tribe, with their brother Rooster also being trained by Snake Sunning on Rocks, who remained Lead Cave-Guard to this day. Eagle longed for the privilege to be trained by a leader of the Tribe, but her training fell short and hard, and in the time since, she had decided instead to channel that energy into taking her own steps to become a leader herself.
But as long as Leaf remained, Eagle would simply have to prove herself a capable member and provide for her Tribe. Perhaps she could take the time to teach Song to help speak on her sister's behalf, so that if the time were to come for Eagle to take her own stance, she would have a chorus behind her to sing her praises.
