Personality

kestrelfoot is a sweet and kind-hearted cat, wanting to please and soothe those around her whenever possible. she has decent loyalty to her clan, though she is not overly moralistic about her loyalty, but no one would doubt where her heart lies. she cares deeply about her family, both current and any future family she may have. she can be somewhat passive and easy to persuade, often not likely to stand up to someone who treats her poorly and accepting whatever might come her way. she is unlikely to question the morality of those around her, simply wanting to see the best in them. kestrelfoot is very spiritual and even somewhat ritualistic in her beliefs, often found in some sort of prayer towards starclan, though it is clear she is most often praying to the souls of her lost family members and clanmates. she believes deeply in starclan's power, knowing that they are watching over her when she needs them most, and always believes that she has their strength and guidance in her steps. she often carries a sadness about her, but usually does her best to keep it to herself. all in all, while kestrelfoot is rather quiet and melancholic, she can always be a source of kindness and will always be there for others when they need an open heart and a listening ear.

kestrelfoot is a cat of average size, though her fluffy fur certainly makes her seem a little larger than the average cat. she is rather pretty and takes good care of her fur, primarily due to how hot she can get in greenleaf and how heavy her fur can get whenever she might get wet. her fur is an almost diluted tortishell pattern, primarily with the darker black sections looking almost brown from a fair amount of time spent outside in the sun from the natural bleaching in the light, though the ginger sections are clear as ever. kestrelfoot's eyes are amber, often filled with an inquisitive glint to them, though a slight sadness has remained in them for a long time since the loss of her sister and best friend, dipperpaw.

History

kestrelkit was born to the young lightningclan couple of sorrelheart and blackfur alongside her littermates, sootkit and dipperkit. as kits, kestrelkit and dipperkit were practically inseparable, constantly playing together and easily teaming up against their brother, sootkit. the kits were doted on by their parents, who clearly loved the trio dearly, and even while in the nursery, continued to talk about the future kits they were going to have. it was clear the couple wanted a big, loving family.

the trio of kits became apprentices soon enough, with kestrelpaw being assigned to wrentail as her mentor. kestrelpaw and dipperpaw continued to constantly be by one another's sides, always asking their mentors if they could train together. their mentors were more than happy to help the pair if it made them more eager to become stronger warriors for lightningclan. not long into their apprenticehood, their parents had another litter of kits: a pair they named cherrykit and rook-kit.

then, the earthquake hit. kestrelpaw and dipperpaw had been together, trying to flee to safety. as the two ran, dipperpaw tripped. kestrelpaw tried to catch her sister before she could fall, but missed by mere hairs, watching her sister get swallowed up by the earth. kestrelpaw was devastated, almost wanting to throw herself in after her best friend, but her brother, sootpaw, found her and managed to continue to push her along. when everyone managed to get to safety, they found sorrelheart caring over rook-kit, telling the siblings that blackfur had been carrying cherrykit when he fell, swalowing up both father and daughter. kestrelpaw's mentor, wrentail, was also among the fallen.

the remaining family members: sorrelheart, sootpaw, kestrelpaw, and rook-kit, joined galeclan. kestrelpaw was assigned a new mentor: dipperpaw's old mentor, and wrentail's sibling, minkstep. returning to training was difficult for both of them at first, both mourning the loss of someone close to them, but they had been assigned to one another as they had already done training together before the earthquake, and it seemed the most appropriate pairing. after what felt like ages for the two sorrowful cats, kestrelpaw still managed to complete her training, and was assigned to become a tunneller in the new galeclan by the name of kestrelfoot.

it did not seem long after getting her full name that kestrelfoot was given an apprentice: a young tom by the name of murkpaw. she found training to be a constant struggle with murkpaw, given that her apprentice wasn't the brightest. he was often eating whatever he could get into his mouth, whether it be dirt, bugs, sticks, or even bone rather than any actual fresh-kill, which meant hunting training was hard enough. teaching the young tom to tunnel was also difficult, given the fact that he often wanted to eat the dirt, which was a safety hazard in case the tunnels collapsed in. battle training was also hard enough, as murkpaw often thought he was too smart for it. kestrelfoot constantly felt herself tested in her patience when it came to her apprentice, often wondering if she was fit to even be a mentor.

at the same time, she also found herself surrounded by two toms who had begun to catch her eye: playful and charming swiftfox, who often reminded her of the good times that she used to have with her sister; and kind and dignified alderstone, who made her feel more calm and comfortable than she had in a long time.
