Sitting in the main cave, Snake's tail tip twitched. He’d only sat down for a second when he stood again and began to move. He’d just caught the eye of a cave guard and found himself moving away. They might not have been someone about to get his attention, but for the time being, he waved his tail to indicate a patrol that he saw leaving. The movement almost panicked and suddenly he didn’t feel capable at all. He stopped. Hesitated. Then calmed down and turned back.
It wasn’t a long conversation. A quick fix of an issue between tribemates. But Snake still didn’t feel like it was him making the choices to help. He felt like he was running on empty. He felt like the front of him was making all the decisions and that he’d just fallen back into his own thoughts.
I need a break, he realized. It caused his fur to bristle up and he had to shake it out again. Then he stalked toward the edge of the cave, behind a stalagmite, and pressed himself against the floor. His nose ended up over his paws after not too long. He found himself with his nose under his paws after not too long. It made him feel a bit better. Eventually, he uncurled and shuffled out into view again, looking as presentable as could possibly be managed, given the circumstances. At least this time he spotted someone who offered some relief to his tense shoulders. He couldn’t help smiling a bit as he saw Moon walking by, not having noticed him yet.
“Moon?” he called softly, Then waved his tail to indicate that he’d like her to come over. Hopefully. That was at least the idea. A break and maybe a good friend and conversation partner.
