I know the road is long, but where you are is home.
Wherever you stay, I'll find the way.
Wherever you stay, I'll find the way.
It was very odd, sleeping out in the open the way they had. This occurrence hadn’t been something he had ever experienced back in Treeclan, nor when he joined Lightningclan. While it was quite strange at first, even he had to admit that being able to roll over onto your back and look directly up at the stars, the pelts of your family pressed around you, it was an amazing feeling. It was far more peaceful than he had thought, and he enjoyed every moment of it.
But, by the time he had thought he was enjoying the experience, he was suddenly opening his eyes, nudged awake by someone. He couldn’t tell if it had been Windspirit who woke him, or maybe one of his daughters by his side, but someone had brought him back to consciousness. He hadn’t even realized he fell asleep. Maybe even in his dream he had imagined himself laying under the stars in the meadows of Galeclan, with his mate and all four of his kids, and even his mother and older sister, all by his side.
That was another thing he had to get used to, was actually having his whole family with him. He had made the extremely hard decision to leave his family behind in Treeclan to join his mate and his new family in Lightningclan. The thought of never seeing them again had always terrified him. And, in some ways, that fear had come true. He had lost multiple of his siblings during the earthquake, only his mother Robinwhisker and his sister Dawnpool remaining in their tree-bound family. And when the time came for the clans to leave for their new homes, both of them had chosen to come to Galeclan to be with the rest of the family. The Bengal tom would never in his whole life be able to express in words the joy he felt when his mother and sister got to meet Windspirit and their children for the first time. It was like everything had come together the way it was meant to be. Though they had lost many of their own in the change, those who remained were finally together.
In his waking, he heard Owlstar’s voice call to the clan, the tom getting to his feet in a hurry. With his whole family around him, save for perhaps his sons who were always off getting into some sort of trouble, Leopardheart listened intently to the meeting held by his Leader. By the end of it, yellow eyes peered over at his mate by his side, a smile crossing his face. “I think I am going to join one of the hunting patrols, if that is alright with you?” He purred as he nuzzled his face into Windspirit’s neck, his tail curling around her’s.
With his sister Dawnpool by his side, the Bengal tom parted from his family and the pair approached the inky form of Batear who stood a short distance away, putting patrols together. The two siblings glanced between each other as it came to a close. They shared a few words before they separated, Dawnpool approaching the group slowly forming at Batear’s side while he moved off to form another.
He glanced at the others around him, hoping to see some familiar faces. The Oriental she-cat hadn’t really assigned “leaders” of the other patrols, nor did he intend to step forward to be one unless asked, but he still felt it to be good to give his opinion on the course of action they took.
“Maybe we should head down towards the Rock Pile? I’m sure there’s lots of mice and birds hiding in there.”
