It was strange, that after going most of her life not fully believing in the power of StarClan, that eventually there would come a day when all of that would change in a single night. For Cloverstar, it had been when she'd received her nine lives. She didn't think any cat could leave that experience still believing that StarClan was powerless, and now she nurtured a grudging respect for her warrior ancestors that had never existed within her before. And it was that respect that drove her into immediate action as soon as Shadowchaser relayed the events of his dream to her.
Truly, it was lucky she had been in camp when he'd rushed toward her from his den - she'd been about to leave on a patrol to mark the TreeClan border. Now she glanced swiftly around NightClan's makeshift camp, her mind whirring as she struggled for a moment to weigh the consequences of the decisions she'd be forced to make. A large chunk of her Clanmates were currently out on patrol, more than usual, since they were not only patrolling borders and hunting, but also gathering resources to make their makeshift camp more comfortable as they waited for the cave to empty out. Someone would need to go and fetch them before disaster struck, and get them all here before they could leave for the mountains.
Her mind still working, she strode to the center of camp and rose her voice in a commanding yowl, "NightClan - gather around me!" She didn't waste time on the words of tradition - time was of the essence. We need more time! They were furthest away from the mountains and safety. How could she create more time for them? "Shadowchaser has brought news from StarClan - a disaster is coming, and it will bring destruction upon our valley. We must evacuate our territory immediately, and find shelter in the mountains." She glanced at the medicine cat, recalling their agreement of the safest place to go. "We will seek out the Tribe - they should be far enough away from the valley to avoid - "
NightClan had started murmuring in anxiety, and now a few of them were crying out.
"What is this destruction? What's going to happen?!"
"What if the message wasn't interpreted correctly? Knowing StarClan, it could mean anything!"
"What if the mountains aren't safe either?!"
Cloverstar hissed, lashing her tail impatiently. Why couldn't they just listen to her without question? She opened her mouth to snap out a command to silence them, when a voice flooded her head: Take a deep breath, and listen. NightClan is not questioning your authority - they are afraid. Be honest. Soothe their fears.
She shut her mouth, though her ears were still flattened with annoyance. These voices in her head bothered her - they bothered her a lot. But she couldn't ignore them when they were talking sense. "NightClan," she said again, after taking a deep breath, "you need to trust me. StarClan has been very clear: We will die if we stay in this valley. But they also told us we can survive, and we will. We survived the flooding of our camp, and we will survive this destruction of the valley." Her Clan was quieter now, though some still exchanged anxious whispers, and she saw many fluffed up pelts. She tried to look among them for the cat who might be the quickest in fetching the rest of their Clanmates, but she found her gaze slipping past every potential candidate. It would be a waste of time to send any of them, even if they were the fastest cat alive. They needed to leave now.
"We will leave immediately. All apprentices, please report to Shadowchaser to help carry herbs. Their mentors will also assist and accompany Shadowchaser. I want every elder and queen to have a warrior by their side at all times, and the rest of the warriors will protect the rest of the group and look out for danger. Dapplefire will lead everyone to the mountains at the back of our territory. You will continue skirting the mountains into RainClan territory. If, at any point, you find a path into the mountains that's closer than the usual path to the Tribe, then take it. I want everyone in the mountains as soon as possible." Was she missing anything? Her eyes found her daughters instantly, and for just a moment she felt a trace of something softer within her. Their mentors were already hovering near them, and her gaze locked with Crowstalker, giving him a tiny nod. She trusted him to get all three of her daughters to safety. He was her most loyal supporter. "I will leave now and find the rest of our Clanmates on patrol, and together we will cut across StarClan's Claws to head for the mountain path to the Tribe."
A few cats stared at her, wide-eyed, and she didn't understand their expressions until one of them spoke up. "I will come with you, Cloverstar."
She was about to open her mouth to deny the help as a couple more warriors chimed in, when Darkstar's voice hissed in her head, Don't refuse. It would be a mistake to damage their pride, and they will not slow you down. She lashed her tail once, but nodded curtly. "Very well. NightClan, let's move!"
TLDR; Because NightClan is nocturnal, many cats were out on patrols when Shadowchaser had his dream, so the Clan is split. Dapplefire will be leading most of the Clan to the mountains behind their territory, where they will skirt the mountains until they find a safe place to start climbing. This group contains all of the apprentices, their mentors, the elders, Shadowchaser, Dapplefire, and several warriors. Everyone else is scattered throughout NightClan territory patrolling, hunting, or gathering resources and Cloverstar is going to find these groups and take them together across StarClan’s Claws toward the mountains. Cloverstar is leaving now, so if your character wants to go rogue I guess she’d be none the wiser lmfao.
The earthquake will hit the following day, so they will most likely still be traveling or climbing the mountains by the time it occurs.
