Pictures belong to: Karolina Demczuk
Description:
At an initial glance, Odessa is a large she-cat with a lot of fur to cover her body. Her fluffy appearance is graced with a chocolate tabby pattern with splashes of white on her chest, face, and paws. Her tipped ears and the patch that goes down her back are almost black compared to the blend of grays and browns on the rest of her. Her almond shaped hues are a pale yellow color in contrast with her mottled frame. While a pink nose is planted perfectly between them. The mixture of colors and shades actually makes the she-cat a unique sight to see...you know before her mouth sours the first impression.
As for the she-cat's body type, she stands a smidge taller than the average she-cat of her age. Her lanky legs disguised underneath the ton of fur on her. And while she may appear portly due to the fluff, she is a fairly thin feline underneath. Years of having to find her own food have taken a toll on her overall shape but not enough that she appears fragile and sick.
Description Summary:
A chocolate tabby she-cat with splashes of white fur and pale yellow eyes.
Personality:
Odessa is a conceited she-cat, to be frank. She thinks very highly of herself and whomever she holds closest, while others are regarded like dirt or a means to an end. If she shows an ounce of kindness to someone outside of her inner circle, it's typically because there is something to be gained. With a manipulative way of speaking, the she-cat will use whatever methods to get other cats to bend to her will. Most typically when she shows this sort of interest, she sees something in the cat that could help further her plans to be among the top cats of the valley. This she-cat has an intense desire for power and a reputation that will follow her. So if she must use other cats as pawns to get her to that point, she will do it without a second thought. She thinks more about what she wants versus what might happen to the others felines she involves in her plans. Ruthlessly selffish, this she-cat is out for herself and herself alone.
While vain and cold-hearted, Odessa is also quite the cunning she-cat. She is constantly thinking ahead and takes notice of the small things going on around her. Her powers of observation come in handy when she plots her next moves towards domination. Afterall, she knows you can't get far if you do not pay attention. The last thing she needs is to make a foolish move in a fight or step wrong when trying to hunt down her next meal. So to try and prevent making a rash decision, she tries to think things out before she acts. This being stated, however, the she-cat has major issues when anyone outsmarts her. She thinks so highly of her own intelligence that she cannot believe it when others are more astute than herself. This pompousness actually causes Odessa to become a little enraged when someone bests her. She begins to stew on how she was bested and how she missed anything with her observations. The rage from being shown up will slowly build up inside of the she-cat until all sense of rationality is blinded. She becomes extremely unpredictable at that point and will do anything to recover her reputation, even if it means lashing out at those she calls allies. This rage will burn inside her until she has either eliminated the "threat" or proven she is the better of the two.
With so many bad traits to sour one's view of this she-cat, she does have a strong sense of kindness towards kits. She knows that kits keep the bloodlines going and without them all cats would be doomed. So she cannot bring herself to be mean to such youngsters. She might try to mold them to be more like herself but she would never lay a claw on one to further her plans. She even hopes to mother many litters of her own one day, as odd a thought as that is for a she-cat of her nature. But she does harbor a motherly compassion deep under that deceitful persona of hers. And with this maternal side comes a highly protective trait as well. As far as she's concerned, no one is allowed to put a paw on a kit in her prescence or harm them in any way. Consider her the mama bear of the woods.
History:
Odessa, as hard as it would be to believe, once roamed the lands of Treeclan. Born to faithful Treeclan parents Kestrelfeather and Gorgefall, she was the first and only she-cat of three kits. Lynxkit, as they so named her, was a kit that was rough around the edges from the get go. She didn't want to partake in the usual day-to-day of the nursery life. In fact, she spent most of her time at the entrance studying the cats in camp. Over the days in the nursery, she did develop a nice relationship with her brother Lionkit. The two would sit and talk to one another about what she had seen out in the camp. Especially right before bed, when everyone in the nursery was asleep. He would intently listen to all her thoughts on how camp worked or what drama there was. While he understood her, her mother did not. She would force the she-cat back into the nursery and urge her to play with her siblings. Unlike her brothers, Lynxkit was very rough and more often than not would hurt Cougarkit, the youngest. This aggressive behavior would get her yelled at and many questioned if this part of her persona would continue into training.
At 6 moons, Lynxkit was dutifully named Lynxpaw. She was given to a senior warrior named Harefoot to be mentored by. Harefoot was a trusted warrior of their leader and he was expected to keep a close eye on her while trying to ease her violence. The first things that her mentor took notice of during their training was Lynxpaw's extraordinary skills in observation. The young she-cat could quickly pick up on things that the old tom could not. And paired with her intelligence, she could piece things together to take on each obstacle the tom gave her. He was amazed at how cunning the young she-cat was but this fascination would fall flat. During their hunts, she wouldn't just catch her prey. She would make sure without a doubt the prey was dead, making her hunts a little bloodier than normal. If they did fighting training, Harefoot or another warrior would have to step in. The times she was paired against other apprentices, she would injure them in the end. She did not seem to understand when it was appropriate to stop. Even cries of pain from her sparring partners would not stop her. So she was limited to training with older cats, if she was permitted to take part at all. Many times Harefoot would blatantly avoid anything that may allow her ruthless side to take light. He would make her walk the borders, every once in awhile allowing her to hunt. She would have to turn to her brother, Lionpaw to get in any fighting training. Her brother was the only apprentice she knew better than to injure. So this lack of training from her mentor, became quite evident to Lynxpaw. The old tom wouldn't let her spar with others, wouldn't let her hunt half the time. It was like he didn't want her to do anything. Like he'd given up on her at only 10 moons. This enraged the young she-cat. How dare the old tom think he could control her! With a violence not commonly seen from one so young, the she-cat lashed out at her mentor one day on patrol. Not expecting the attack, the tom was caught off-guard. She managed to put many deep scratches into her mentor's side before another cat barreled into her. She yelled at them both. Screamed about them trying to make her someone else. About trying to control her. Then without hesitation, the she-cat retreated into the territory of another clan. She had chosen her fate as a now deemed rogue. If the clans couldn't see her potential, she would one day rise up and show them. Show them that she was stronger than them.
For many moons, Lynxpaw roughed it on her own in the unclaimed territories around the clans. She took on an abandoned fox den as her home around 23 moons and it was here that she changed her name. She was no longer a clan cat therefore she had to chance her given name. Odessa. The name rolled off her tongue and brought a certain sense of dread at the sound. She had every intentions of making sure the cats of the valley knew her name. She has spent her time since then plotting, studying the clan borders and the cats she spotted along them. She even reconnected with Lionheart, getting any gossip about Treeclan from him. One day, she hopes to piece everything together and rise to the top. She wanted the clan to know they were low cat on the totem pole.
